NOW IS THE TIME

Dear Dr.King,

We have to listen to your words and your wisdom. Now is the Time.
We have to treasure the lesson and hold it close.
We have to pray for strength. Now is the Time.
We have to faithfully guide a movement as it grows.

There's a Change A Comin'.

We have to honor our sick, our elderly, our poor.
We have to be their Voice. Now is the Time.
We have to face problems that Power is hellbent to Ignore.
We have to take care of Each Other. Now is the Time.

There's a Change A Comin'.

We have to roar into oppressive winds thick with Lies.
We have to speak Truth against thick Walls. Now is the Time.
We have to know that Real leaders don't rule with Spies.
We know that True Power trusts the people. Now is the Time.

There's a Change a Comin'.

We have to face the Powers that create webs of deciet, We must.
We have to work as one, together. Now is the Time.
We have to do it for our children, otherwise who will they trust.
We have to show them another way to peace. Now is the Time.

There's a Change a Comin'.

We have to Know that the Change is on the Way.
We have to help it gain momentum. Now is the Time.
We can't turn out backs on it for an hour or a day.
We are the momentum, we are the Change. Now is the Time.

There's a Change a Comin'.

Words of Wisdom Below by Dr.King

Yes, We must stand, and we must Speak.
There comes a time when Silence is Betrayal.

Injustice Anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere.
( letter from jail April 1963).

Our Lives begin to end the day we become Silent about Things that Matter.

  4. I love that final quote. I've used it as my email .sig for years now. True heroes in today's society are very hard to find anymore. People don't care. People are complacent. People are self-involved. I'm waiting for someone, anyone..to wake up.

  5. The only thing goin' through my head right now is Dylan's classic - "The Times they are a changing"

    Come gather 'round people
    Wherever you roam
    And admit that the waters
    Around you have grown
    And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
    If your time to you
    Is worth savin'
    Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come writers and critics
    Who prophesize with your pen
    And keep your eyes wide
    The chance won't come again
    And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
    And there's no tellin' who
    That it's namin'.
    For the loser now
    Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come senators, congressmen
    Please heed the call
    Don't stand in the doorway
    Don't block up the hall
    For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
    There's a battle outside
    And it is ragin'.
    It'll soon shake your windows
    And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come mothers and fathers
    Throughout the land
    And don't criticize
    What you can't understand
    Your sons and your daughters
    Are beyond your command
    Your old road is
    Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

    The line it is drawn
    The curse it is cast
    The slow one now
    Will later be fast
    As the present now
    Will later be past
    The order is
    Rapidly fadin'.
    And the first one now
    Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

  12. “I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a thing-oriented society to a person-oriented society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered.”

“The question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be… The nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists.”

Just checking in, friend. There are so many wonderful bloggers with great things going on- its encouraging and its just another way of the 'ripple'.
Another way is to walk the walk- consider supporting the day of action in March (Code Pink) and planning something, big or small in your own community. Don't underestimate the power of some creative ways to have conversations. Consider a dvd party, showing something relevant like "Hijacking Catastrophe" or "Beyond Treason". We can write letters, pick up the phone- all of these things are 'ripples' and often action helps us feel better, empowerd, and energied.
Hang in there Enigma. We've all been where you are at.

  14. Hey E4E, I hope I can uplift your heart after breaking it. Consider yourself blog rolled.

    Blog on!

  15. Micheal, yes we need more Change...I am merely a bleeding heart liberal- I don't know if I am so extreme...and
BlogenFreude...yup I am waiting to see if anyone Elected says a damn thing at this point...MSM came through with NO colors as expected.
Lilly- yes, Ripples are out there...and we All are Ripples...now how do we make a tidal wave...
JP- Delay - Folsum Prison Blues- oh, what a nice present...
Windspike- you can break my heart or roll me anytime...

  16. Hey Enigma: I'm more shocked that we haven't crossed paths more often since we have commented and/or visited many of the same bloggers before... but I guess it is all kismet, huh?

This entire past weekend I tried to update my blogroll, but for some ungodly reason, it just wouldn't work... grr... so I think I will dump this into Hubby's lap and see if he can get it to work... and I will add you to it my fellow female disgusted Ohioan blogger.

I swear, I spent almost 2 hrs this afternoon calling every Ohio office of Sens DeWine and Voinovich pleading with them to not be the wingnuts I already know they will be and vote for Alito, plus calling every Dem senator's office, begging them to filibuster Alito. I am so fed up too, Enigma... but I look at my tiny innocent 3 yr old daughter and know that I have to fight for her b/c nobody else is gonna do it. Hang tough sister... we gotta fight the good fight.

  18. Tina...I am sorry...but it was good of you to work so hard...but don't give up...and yes, there are some of these folks that should just be carted off ( Blackwell)

Hey Enigma- good question. A tidal wave? needs impetus, a force to take the ripples and push them into some kind of angry cohesion... usually someone of leadership takes this on- we just don't have many people nowadays that seem inspirational enough to do that.

    Except blogenfreude. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ah, yes the Honorable Blogenfreude....

But that Boot Woman kicks some serious Conscience ass as well.....

Hey there Mel..welcome ...and yes indeedy I am Back...

I hope we all keep talking...
