SATURDAY NIGHT MUSIC 9.2.06

The Late Show - Steve Martin, Earl Scruggs

Okay folks....It's raining here in Cleveland and misty by the lake. I am making Pumpkin Bread and Soup for dinner and watching football. My son and I are attempting to share a computer ( his is sick again), so I can't blog until much later...So I am a wee bit frustated. So I will put on some Bluegrass tonight....and later Blues. This is an amazing clip from a performance on David Letterman.

So True or False:
Steve Martin has won a grammy for his Banjo Skills ?

Also to lift your Spirits Mel has a Limerick Contest going on, head over sit on her porch and have a laugh...

Have a good Saturday Night Folks...

New Post up at Midnight...

Truly great pickin. I bought a Lester and Earl album not long ago, but it annoyed my wife who said she wouldn't listen to it because Earl Scruggs is a big Republican and supporter of Dubya. I don't know if that's really so, but she says it is, so it must be true. I have always liked Flatt n Scruggs.

well, i don't know 'bout a banjo grammy, but i just love an artist who steps outside his celebrated medium & shows another talent, one that you didn't pay your ticket money for. and banjo is not easy to learn! my self-taught sister says it was even harder than competitive chess (which she's pretty good at, too). D.K.

Have a great restful evening, Enigma. The soup and bread sound delicious. Thanks for the music.

i'm also a big fan of flatt and scruggs, and of banjo pickin' in general (one of the many reasons i consider steve martin the last of the truly talented comedians...he does so much more than make nasty remarks to the audience, which seems to be the breadth of most young comics today).

now that you get me in the mood, enigma, i think i'll search around for some bob wills and texas playboys for my blog.

SKIPPY: Hey there..yup..it was just the right music to have on...Rain falling and a bit of the picking.....made the whole night go better...heading your way next...

SAPPHO: long time so see,....so great to see you....and don't worry about adding me...I know you will when you can...stop in anytime..

PROF:Hey, thanks for coming by- I will try to throw the Pumpkin Bread reciep your way...I also added a Dip post tonight- thought of you....

DK: geez competitive chess and banj0- I don't know which is harder...hmm...for me , ol Butter-Fingers-Grace...it would have to be the Banjo...my man I watch his fingers and his hands and I am mesmerized...on all levels...I love this song.. I find myslef humming it at odd moments...The Grammy Issue remains a mystery.

Newsguy: I don't blame your wife , but I think these guys were actually some of the Old School that supported the Dixie Chicks during the whole Fiasco a few years ago- I think Earl is actually okay...( Blue Grass Folk are alot more forgiving and open minded than regular old Country....I can say that I got Kentucky Kin that are musically talented- me I am musically challenged....Can't play a damn thing..but sure love to listen...)

Have a Good Night Folks.....
