  8. I think McCain jsut used a word he does not fully understand.

How does Iran pose an "existential" threat to Israel? It either is a real threat or no threat at all.

This is not a fucking philosophy class.

And Gryphen uses the "F" word at 1:05 of the debate. He is demonstrating remarkable restraint.

    ReplyDelete
  9. yeah...he brought up the Holocaust ???WHAT ????

    "Serious threat""

( well, maybe we should not sing Bad songs about bombing them....)

( fran- the joke is that McCain has not even been there in over 20 monthes..)

  34. Oops Obama done screwed up.

The dust-up between Russia and Georgia was not all Russia's fault.

Georgia instigated it to give McCain the opportunity to talk tough and look Presidential.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Easy John....Easy...don't start the Cold War again....easy boy

    ReplyDelete
  36. And now McCain takes his opportunity to act all indignant that Obama did not condemn Russia right off the bat.

    That was a set up.

    ReplyDelete
  37. gryphen, it seems that way doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  41. Obama did fine...BUT MCCain needs to answer some questions about HIS man being in Georgia stirring up trouble...

now and he is screwing up the whole thing- and trying to Fearmonger about Ukraine....

McCain would LOVE the Cold war to come back...

    ReplyDelete
  42. lol bradda.....

it's like they gave McCain a list of foreign names he should prattle off

    ReplyDelete
  43. No Obama NOT nucear energy.

Energy is brought up....thank you...over 23 years MCCain voted against Alternative Energy- Obama points this out and McCain LAUGHS ?????WHAT ????

    ReplyDelete
  45. There's really no real direction with this debate, they're asked issues then start rambling all over the place answering charges against one another...get it together Jim L.!

    ReplyDelete
  46. He sneers and said " NO ONE cares about wind and solar" DID he say that ???wow arrogant old shit....

    ReplyDelete
  47. Which channel are you all watching? After the pre-debate talking heads, I turned to CNN for the debate so I could see the audience reaction gizmo at the bottom of the screen.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Obama let McCain have the last word.

    DON'T DO THAT!

    ReplyDelete
  49. You let the president shit on your torture bill you liar!! Liar!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh the John & Joe Lieberman love story re the 9-11 commission. The one the repugs fought to not have?

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's a safer nation? Tell that the victims of that bridge that collapsed or the victims of Katrina who had so little federal assistance with all the national guard over in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tell that to my grandmother who had to remove her shoes in the airport...

    ReplyDelete
  53. gryphen, that pissed me off too!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Did McCain just bring up torture?

The man who voted to allow waterboarding is getting on his high horse about torture?

    Un-fucking-believable!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Obama just lost Australia when he claimed America is the 'greatest nation on Earth"... But then we are assured Sen Obama doesn't understand :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. 2 Minutes::

    oh shit...

WHAT IS THE CHANCE OF ANOTHER 911

( oh yeah....this will be way more than 2 Minutes )
omg..he is such a fucking liar- HE DID NOT HELP START THE 911 Commisssion - he had NOTHING to do with it- I watched ALL those hearings ....LIARS...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Is it over?

But I was not done yet!

    Damn my stamina!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I think Kermit the Frog would have outclassed McCain. And I forgive Obama his chauvinism.

    ReplyDelete
  75. cart, Fozzie would have owned McCain tonight!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. McCain did not do as poorly as I expected. But Obama clearly kicked his wrinkled old ass.

    ReplyDelete
  77. All Obama had to do tonight was kept it cool and show he knows his shit. This was his one "weakness", foriegn policy, and he held his own. The next debates will be brutal......NIGHT all.....twas fun.....see you next time!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I don't think I got a lot of new information tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I STILL THINK MCCAIN WAS USING MORSE CODE WITH HIS CRAZY EYE BLINKING

THE WE ARE WINNING & THE SURGE IS WORKING LINES ARE A REAL GLIMPSE INTO HOW OUT OF TOUCH MCCAIN IS

    ReplyDelete
  80. The lesson of Iraq is that you can't have a failed strategy that will then cause you to lose a conflict??? Freaking profound. Too bad he just realized this.

McCain came off as a snotty grumpy old man....I could not take another WWII or Reagon story....

    ReplyDelete
  86. Thank you all for being here....I am really grateful - for years I sat here alone and liveblogged- which I am sure has caused brain damage....( No one should liveblog alone- not these thing ;-)

You are all so wise and funny- thank you ...Many Hugs !!!!!

Now get out there and VOTE and Support Obama and in January -we will have a NEW Real Leader...

    ReplyDelete
  87. THEY HAD A ROOM FULL OF UNDECIDEDS VOTE POST DEBATE ON WHO WON-- IT WAS AN OVERWHELMING OBAMA

    ReplyDelete
  88. I just wish Obama hadn't kept saying "I agree with Sen. McCain."

It's as if Obama needs to dial back from this nice guy act as he did during the primaries with, "Sen. McCain is a genuine war hero," and, "I respect Sen. McCain's service to this country."

I don't know why Obama is afraid to go on the offensive and remain there.

    ReplyDelete
  89. wow...that 's cool fran- Where was that??

    ReplyDelete
  90. I wish Obama had directly challenged this view that the surge has been successful. If I had been in that debate, I would have directly stated the number of both soldiers and Iraqis that have died since the surge and in total and ask if explain to the families of these people how this is success...

    ReplyDelete
  91. that is - I'd ask if he could explain to the families of these people how this is success...

    ReplyDelete
  92. I THINK JOHN UP THERE STUTTERING AND STUMBLING ON TRYING TO PRONOUNCE FOREIGN NAMES WAS REMINISCENT OF BUSH, ONLY MCCAIN BUNGLED IT, WAS LIKE DUDE, GIVE IT UP.

I THINK IT LOOKS TACKY FOR MCCAIN TO USE THE SAME LINES OBAMA USED IN A DEBATE AGAINST OBAMA-- HE NEEDS TO COME UP WITH HIS OWN MATERIAL.

AS FOR HIM RAILING ON THE WE ARE WINNING BULLSHIT-- I REMEMBER JON STEWART SAYING THEY JUST NEEDED A BACKDROP OF A MILITARY CEMETARY.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'M MAKING THAT SARCASTIC REMARK BUT SERIOUSLY OF ALL TEH DEATH & DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ--STILL GOING ON TO THIS DAY... SUFFERING & HELL-- WINNING IS NOT THE WORD-- NOT TO MENTION OUR SOLDIERS & THE CARE THEY NEED AND THE HELLISH COST...... I MEAN REALLY

THERE WAS NOTHING TO WIN AND TO THIS DAY WE ARE STILL LOSING.

    ReplyDelete
  94. E TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION-- I WAS CHANNEL SURFING- SO IT WAS EITHER CBS,NBC, PBS DID NOT DO THE VIEWER VOTER THING.

    ANYWAY THANKS FOR HOSTING.
    IT WAS FUN.

    THE DEBATE THAT ALMOST WASN'T

    ReplyDelete
  95. thanks Fran....Loved having you as always...and yea...I too hate when he starts that We are Winning- Jaws of Defeat Victory crap....omg...how could anyone ever ever say that about Iraq....

Chris - I hear you ....it bothers me too..

To ALL that came...Kelly, Fran, Alien, Cart, Bradda, Newsguy, ( teacher ;-),troy, You all rock...thank you

    Anok::
hey- it was a good debate- I just rewatched it on cspan..yeah- Obama did a great job...and NOW thursday the Palin Meltdown...can't wait....good to see you...Hang in there...

    ReplyDelete
  99. O dear me, I CANNOT wait for the VP debates. Muwahahahahahahaa.

I do think Obama did well tonight - I think he started off a bit shaky, but ended on a high note. He kept the high road, didn't take the bait and get side tracked (well, not too much, anyway) and answered each question fully and with details.

He even said things that made my husband sit up and take notice. That's BIG.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Sorry I missed liveblogging with you tonight - we were watching the debate with some friends. I think Obama did well. I was surprised that McCain was as together as he seemed, given the crazy stuff he's been doing lately. I think some of the stuff he was doing will backfire (that condescending "You don't understand" bit). We shall see. Glad Time gave Obama a better review than McCain!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Maui::
good to see you..there were many Debate parties...good for you....really interesting debate...McCain did say somethings that were amazing- like NO spending except on Military and Vets...and Pakistan FAILED state???

anyways....thursday the Palin Debacle- mark your calendar ;-)
