And now for Something Completely Different.....Best 80's Band Competition......

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a contest I am having with 6-6...( okay let's be real...he's a teenager- expert on ALL music...so I am screwed...) But that being said....HERE is my nomination...yes...Duran Duran......yeah,..Almost None of the their songs is available to Embed ( boy that sounds funny...) Sooooooo Here is my Nomination- an Unreleased Version of "Reach up for the Sunrise"... I am betting 6-6 picks Foreigner.... So WHO do you think was the best 80's Band ??
( photo is Harry waiting for Keith to come on ( he likes to snuggle up with the TV and yes, this is my son's cat- the 7 pound wonder that we saved summer of 2007....and NOW he weighs 19 pounds...yup..well loved...)
Have a Good Night ...be back later...
  1. Oh you know you will lose to 6-6 and then that 19-lb sweetheart of a cat will sit on your chest and laugh, HAH!
    I can't play. For me, the 80's was kind of a wasteland of music that I tuned out. When U2 came along, I started listening again.
    We had friends who were listening to Foreigner & Journey & Toto, which I would try to drown out with Queen or The Cars as being the farthest forward I could reach after the 60-70's. until U2 ...
  4. I'm with DK-- I kind of draw a blank, but I cheated & did a Google search for 80's music to refresh what is left of my memory!
    Against the Wind - Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band - really liked the song- " Night Moves"
    Really liked his style, tight music & well delivered lyrics
    The Wall - Pink Floyd
    We don't need no thought control
    Celebration - Kool And The Gang
    Ceeeeeelebrate good times - come on!
    don't think that song will ever go away
    “Eye of the Tiger,” Survivor
    Kind of sounded like Jefferson Starship
    Synchronicity - The Police
    Great music
    Owner Of A Lonely Heart - Yes
    I really loved the band YES .
    What's Love Got To Do With It - Tina Turner
    Tina took her life back & went on to be a huge success.
    “Money for Nothing,” Dire Straits
    Get your kicks for free!
    With Or Without You - U2
    Sweet!
    Some of the tunes/bands listed in the late 80's were serious duds.
    Also in that genre was the We are the World- collaboration. Guess that won a bunch of awards, etc.
    Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
  5. Dire Straits - Mark Knopfler's guitar work mesmerizes me.
    The Rolling Stones.
    Ok - that one needs some explanation. Back in the late 90's, my (then) teenaged daughter who also "knew eveything" about music told me that I knew nothing about music, that I only liked "Lame 80's Bands like The Rolling Stones" and that I knew nothing about "New music like Greenday or Weezer or....
    Aerosmith"
    Slowly I turned
    Step by step
    INCH by INCH
    to my well-stocked vinyl record shelf... the "A" section... and pulled out my well-worn copy of Toys In The Attic.
    "HuMPH - well, that is OLD Aerosmith"
    Cue mom laughing... (She HATES it when I tell that story now...)
I hope we all keep talking...
