"To stand at the edge of the sea, to sense the ebb and flow of the tides, to feelthe breath of a mist moving over a great salt marsh, to watch the flight of shore birds that have swept up and down the surf lines of the continents for untold thousands of year, to see the running of the old eels and the young shad to the sea, is to have knowledge of things that are as nearly eternal as any earthly life can be.”~Rachel Carson

At least we have on thing to thank the Obama team charged with the oil crisis in the Gulf for: they've said on the record that the nuclear option used successfully by the Russians is off the table here.

One small glimmer of hope.

Gulf Workers Illnesses....

Doctor thinks it could be related to the oil, Coast Guard and BP think it could be other factors

A doctor says 11 workers who have been out on the Gulf of Mexico cleaning up oil from BP's blown-out well have been treated for symptoms that could be related to the oil.

Dr. Damon Dietrich says he has seen patients come through his emergency room at West Jefferson Medical Center with respiratory problems, headaches and nausea.

All were treated and released. He says 11 people coming in with the same symptoms make him suspicious.

BP and U.S. Coast Guard officials have said dehydration, heat, food poisoning or other unrelated factors may have caused the workers' symptoms. The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals is investigating.

I saw a woman (she wasn't a doctor) on CNN last night tell Dr. Sanjay Gupta that workers who were exposed to the oil in the 1989 Exxon Valdez clean-up are still sick.

Everything from immune issues (talk about basic defenses), to hyper tension and respiratory disease. I am telling you, the workers in the Gulf exposed to oil and Corexit will present birth defects.

This is serious and to think the Obama administration can't force BP to stop using Corexit -- which is only making the oil spill worse, is appalling to me.

We need leadership. Something sorely in short supply with the Obama team.

This is unbearable to see. I have not wanted to see these pictures. But thank you for your dedication and amazing spirit.

I can't believe we missed your birthday and had I been reminded, would have made sure you got the tickets to Letterman.

Let me know when you will next be in New York. I am so sorry. Have been going through the saddest 5 months of my life with my marriage and stepson.

Love,
Lydia
