Please see posts below, storm has really grown during the day. Compare the two Sattelite Images. ( it is almost a CAT3, only 2 MPH shy of CAT3, and even over by NOLA the winds high, and the Surge will reach how far across the Coast).It is definently Bigger than Katrina....Scroll down for more information.By 8PM it reached 110 MPH, which is CAT 3.

It will be a Cat 3 by the time it reaches shore late tonight...Millions have been and were told to stay in Houston...approximately 100,000 evacuated.I have more Hurricane info over on Hurricane Help Blog, it you need more info. or want to help. RED CROSS is already struggling coping with number of storms in a row. Winds are 105-109, once it hits Cat3 ( 111MPH) it will be huge...On Satellite it is bigger than Katrina, and the area that is at risk is bigger than ALL of New England, the Surge is expected to be that of Tsunami effect over 20 feet. Galveston, 50% have stayed ( that is 25-30,000 ). Refineries have evac'd. If you compare the Maps from Gustav that I posted on Sept1st, you can see how BIG this storm is.
