Friday Morning News Round Up....
And there is this news about how the Statue of Liberty 's Crown is going to reopen-finally. The Statue of Liberty has been basically closed and shut off from the public since 911, but it's a part of our Culture and should be open to the public...it is a 354 step Climb that is beautiful....Ken Salazar the New Interior Secretary will visit there today.....( I hope this is a sign that Our National Parks will be something to Enjoy and share again...)

Jay Rockefeller is concerned that Russell Tice's Allegations on the Extent of the Illegal Spying on Citizens might be true. ( Raw story is doing a good Job following this situation.) NOW the question is How Do We Get an Investigation and get these Orders and laws Changed- or as we speak are we still being spied on ?

And for a chuckle, I know you all have wondered about Sarah Pee's Clothes ? Where did the $180,000 wardrobe end up ? Apparently sitting in Trash bags at the RNC headquarters...

A New Pill may work for MS, looks very promising.

Obama is reversing Another Bush Law, this one on Federally funded abortions... And he did this on the anniversary of Roe V.Wade....Timely and poignant....And more about the Gag order issue ,and how Obama eased the rules today.

( In the Comments there is some controversy about the accuracy of this article, it looks like it pertains to Foreign Abortions, but I will research when I get back later to clear up confusion..)

Last but not least, It's Birthday time for us APPLE folks, yup MacIntosh turns 25 this week....and if you remember the 80's Macs....well....you know it was always a great computer... And maybe you remember their First Orwellian Really Creepy TV ad....Luckily I remember the much Cooler Steve Jobs' Ad where he looks like a college kid with a new toy...

And finally some Bush GoodBye Jokes and Humor....

Small correction - I just read that Obama will NOT be reversing the law about federal funding for clinics that also offer abortion (yet)

Exerpt:
A source with knowledge of the situation says the fact that Obama will not issue this executive order today (on the same day of the huge March for Life rally in DC) sends a strong signal to religious leaders across the political spectrum that President Obama wants to set a different tone in Washington.

He will reverse it (of that I am sure) - but I think it's smart that he chose not to do it on the anniversary - it at least helps lessen the emotional outburst a little bit by those who oppose him.

Thanks Lady Rose..
Hmmmm, Fox and CBS are at odds on this story...I also saw it on MSNBC this am....soooo when I get home tonight I will update this story and try to find the truth....Maybe Federal Funding abroad is the first step...although MSNBC reported it in the States....

( either way Boehner and the repugs will have gas over it...but as long as this first week he does something for women that is good..)

I know, I've been so happy all week that I haven't even blogged because there's nothing bad happening! ;-)

Great links and I liked all the good-bye Bush jokes. Jon Stewart had a good (semi-serious) one that is listed there - I saw him the night he said it:

"But it's nice to know that there is one person untroubled by the Bush presidency [on screen: Bush saying he gave the presidency his 'all' for eight years and he didn't 'sell his soul for the sake of popularity']. You didn't need to! You sold ours." --Jon Stewart

Luckily now President Obama is here to get our soul back!

He did it late this afternoon... just been busy all day...lol But it did get done.

Love the dancing vid. It feels so good to give ourselves permission to have fun again!

now about Obama reversing the federal abortion funds, I read somewhere that Obama signs it the day AFTER the anniv of Roe v Wade, so that it wouldn't conflict with that whole deal. I didn't realize that when GWBush reversed Clinton, it was a reversal of Clinton reversing Reagan. Whew! No surprise a lot of this crap was ushered in by Reagan. So now it is back to what it was before Reagan brought the religious right into our lives.

Maui:::
great Jon Quote...and kind sad...but true....and yeah...our Soul is on the return....( Bush is a souless wonder...and never had one)...

The station dance vid is great. Obama is doing great stuff, however I want Gitmo detainees released/tried sooner, and that place shut down for good. Use it for Bush & CHeney & Rummy & Gonzales.

I want congress to give back their COLA pay raise. Over $2 million bucks for pay raises, in the midst of a depression--plus perks & benefits. If they can;t manage on $165,200 a year, they should step down.

$4100 x 535 members of congress is a lot of coin.

Either enact a pay freeze, or publicly ask them to give it back just before their 2010 election year.

OK I had to list a few things I am thinking about, but otherwise quite , very, really pleased with how Obama has shown his genuine leadership.
His team is sharp & quick & have shown they don't and should not trust the Bush regime.

So... lots of rays of hope & a huge sigh of relief
that we are on a whole new path.

ahhh, not bad for the first 3 days...about the pay raise...I am confused- ALL of Obama's Employees that make over 100,000 are frozen....technicaly that should include ALL Employees right ???

about Gitmo- Read the draft document- very interesting- all about Geneva Coventions etc...and the fact that Black Prisons are closed- CIA shuttled 6 away in the last 24 hours before inaug- it's thought they were removed to other Black prisons...if Obama shuts them ALL ....this presents an interesting situation and cancels ALL harsh Interrogations- that means he is taking drastic action...the Miliary Leaders that are behind him ALL worked with Human Rights Watch to write the draft document....I think it is going to get very interesting...and I never expected such swift action within 3 days...and ALL of it will be closed within year means that NO MORE shuffle the detainess...

( Personally I wish Rendition issues had been addressed in the order, but even though it is not in the Draft, maybe it is in the Final E.O.....)

Have Hope Fran....He has only just started...and taking a stand on ALL the Prisons and Torture and rewriting Habeus Corpus and Geneva Conventions in the order....good start...I also think legally whatever he does with Gitmo has to set a precedent to repair the Justice in this, I also suspect that he NEEDS his CIA and JD people in place..esp Holder...

( and yeah, I thought we needed the Dance Video..something to make us smile.....)

about the video....

LONDON - Saatchi & Saatchi's latest ad for T-Mobile will be on air less than 48 hours after being filmed this morning at London's Liverpool Street station, where 350 dancers performed routines as commuters passed through the concourse.

'Dance', created by Saatchi & Saatchi London, was produced using hidden TV cameras within the station, which captured the spontaneous reactions of commuters as they watched the dance troupe perform.

I understood the pay freeze to be just for the top cabinet members, the Congressional COLA raise is an automated thing-- unless Congress does a yay or nay vote, which they did not do. I hope I am wrong, but I understood it was a done deal??

I am very happy Lady LIberty is open again. Very symbolic of our own liberties.
I would like to scrap the color coded terrorism chart & announcements @ the airports as well.
I'll not soon forget being in the Chicago airport & the recorded terrorism color code of the day was being announced, and all I could hear was the flushing of toilets.
'Nuff said.

I think Micahael Moore's 9-11 film had a guy saying the color code would never be blue or green... that it would stay in a fear mode, because that was the whole point - live in fear.
He was right... it never did.
