STEVE IRWIN'S SUDDEN DEATH

Down Under has lost an amazing man. The rest of the world shares their grief. A Naturalist, an Environmentalist, an Educator. He died in a rare Sting Ray attack on Sunday while filming a new show. He apparently swam over the ray, and was struck by a barb, and his heart was pierced. He did have time to pull out the barb but died almost immediately there after. His crew on his boat did perform CPR and attempt to revive him. And yes according to papers in New Zealand and Australia the crew did film the incident, they did shut down the cameras after he pulled out the barb. It is thought by the experts and witnesses of the incident that he did die almost instantly. He was 44, and married to Terri, his American Sweetheart from Oregon of 16 years, they have two small children. I will post links to his Crocodile Websites and foundations and organizations that will continue his fine work.( Some are hard to access tonight, but should be posted within 24 hours).

As a mom I have to say he made all Creatures more exciting and more interesting, and I do know that when my son was young we watched alot of Discovery and Animal Planet thanks this fine man.And thanks to him my son loves all creatures, snakes to skinks to gators. Steve Irwin died doing what he loved with the animals he loved. Namaste.

Please do go to the link above, Steve Irwin's other Croc sites are too jammed, his Wildlife Warriors site is very interesting, reflects all of his hard work on Conservation , Environmentalism and work in Australia as well as globally. You also can learn about how to become a Wildlife Warrior. The organization also helped build and maintain the Animal Hospital and Rescue as part of the Australia Zoo in Beewah.

We talked about him at dinner last night and indeed it is a sad thing to happen, but not truly suprising as he lived and worked right on the edge of death. I thank him for his bravery and courage. He taught us a lot.

My wife and I are heartbroken over this. We truly appreciated his unbridled enthusiasm for all living things.

Two of the links I need to post will be up tonight- they have been jammed all day- including the one to his foundation downunder. Crikey....

I will also be posting links to his Environmental Work- I am a bit peeved with CNN- all they can focus on is his Entainment skills . He was much more of a man than that-
and he literally saved millions of acres and habitat and animals with his work, and also educated millions, that outrides ANY "entertainment" factor. I was stunned when CNN did a segment on Steve's Humor today. They have totally gone FOX.

Also Discovery is planning some tributes and Foundations to be set up. Last night in the middle of the night on Animal Planet they ran just video and music of him ( 4am) it was beautiful- I hope they reair it.

Honoring someone that has died is such a beautiful thing...and it is odd to reflect, but last week when I wrote about animals I realized in the past 10 years I have been to more animal funerals than human...because they were part of our family...but my son needed to say Goodbye and remember his Family the way they deserved.....And honor they creatures in his life.

I saw on the CNN newsbar crawl today that Australia will give him a state funeral, if the family approves. so the Aussies will see he is properly honored, even if we're too busy with faux news. you are so right, he was true original & deserves proper recognition of ALL his contributions. D.K.

Yes...very sad. But he died as he lived and probably would have wanted it that way...only when much older. A very big loss.
