beautiful video...made me think of a great documentary I saw recently, http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/my-life-as-a-turkey/full-episode/7378/.
Not terribly romantic in the day-to-day reality, but a fascinating story. After having raised chickens and pigeons myself, I have a hard time relating to birds in a misty-eyed way: they can be quite the barbarians.
BUT, the video, yes, it is lovely.
the video is lovely...as a child my mom accidentally got us pet geese...who had to go live at zoo...they can bite...lol..
and the living in the NW our neighbor had chickens....and she brought in a darlin little hen who the others nearly pecked to death....a little hen with a head injury..she came to live on our porch...and get nursed back to health...she lived in a rabbit cage on our front porch...with a londonfog raincoat covering her cage...and our Basset Abby would sit and protect her..one night Abby even tried to bring her inside..carried her in -in her mouth....
we loved that hen...so sweet...when she got better she went to live on the porch of my neighbor....in a cage with a raincoat...Henrietta
1. had not seen/heard bon jovi's cover of leonard cohen. very good, but I still like jeff buckley's cover better.
2. very moving vid from Fly Away Home (filmed when Jeff Daniels still had the best shoulders in the biz IMO). saw a couple vee's of geese flying overhead recently ... at a fork in the river, one vee went one way and the other went the other ... all were honking wildly, each trying to convince the other they were going the wrong way. a few from each vee left theirs to join the other. funny birds ... the forks meet back up on the other side of the gorge, but from the way they were arguing, you'd think it was an international crisis situation!
I love geese and Vees...my attic window has perfect view of them....they are magical...inspiring....just want to climb out the window and join them...lol....and yes, I have heard lines argue and honk at each other...so funny....
This video is so beautiful...moving..on so many levels...about flying high..about letting go, but staying connected....and letting your heart soar....even if earthbound...and Jeff Daniels I think is a fine actor....one that has not gotten near enough attention....
the best thing about my house here is the attic and the back porch...where I can watch birds for hours...I view them as my best of friends, neighbors...the back porch has brought all kinds of activity...racoons...a lovely skunk...and squirrels and birds....so many...all lovely....
