The Heatwave....
Just one more day of Redhot Heat.
I don't know when it will end.
Oh, how I wish it would rain.
I wish it would storm, that thunder would reap open the sky.
*^*^*^*^*^*^*
My son and I are in his Oasis of a room, the beautiful silky Teal walls, and the cat and dog draped about lounging in the hum of the AC (this is the only room with it).....We eat snacks on TV trays and watch old movies....There are not enough popsicles.
*^*^*^*^*^*^*
This is an Imogene Cunningham photo from 1907. She had a studio at some point in Seattle, her post cards were pretty common at Flea Markets. I used to have this on my frig for a long time. Looking at it makes me feel cooler...
Imogene was a wonderful photographer, and a rather gutsy lady, I can't help but wonder, did she climb in the Fountain after photographing the Heat of the Moment ?
I wonder.....
*^*^*^*^*^*
Anyone care to guess the location of the Fountain ?

It's hot & dry here in the SW, but I'm not wishing for rain as that would just make it hot & humid. We usually get summer monsoons coming up the Colorado River about this time of year, but so far only a little lightning (enough to ignite a giant wildfire).
I thank whoever invented air conditioning every day. But then again, maybe if it hadn't been invented, there wouldn't be so many people living in what would otherwise be an inhospitable environment, most of them in homes that don't even utilize solar or geo-thermal power. Whizzz -- that's their electric meters spinning around the dial!
Hope you get the rain you want & that your freezer holds many popsicles! That fountain? I don't know, but want to say Chicago or maybe Rome. Looks very inviting right now. ~~ D.K.
I too thought it was Rome...BUT I also know that I have not been to Rome...and it looks familiar so it had to be somewhere that I knew ......
( but the Fountains in Rome are still on my list and I can tell you that even if I am a 102 by the time I get there I will throw myself in those fountains....)
And dear Western Friend...I just pray that the Fires get under control out your way....and that your AC keeps going strong...
It's a scalding hot summer, for sure. People wilting. I get infant Pedialyte (generic) and put a few dollups in my water to keep from dehydration weirdness. We also keep cloths in the freezer to put on our necks and as a headband for a quick cool down in case of overheating. It helps. Maybe we should do a post and get everyone's ideas on how they stay comfortable in the heat.
Peacechick- great ideas...thanks...gonna go find those clothes now....and the pedialyte sounds like a Great idea......currently we are hooked on Blue raspberry Lemonade by Koolaid...
( I am really tempted to fill my neighbor's baby pool....really....I mean it is sitting right on my porch....hmmmm....I live in a side-by-side....and they aren't home.....oh where have my manners gone..)
If you fill the little pool, be sure to put some ice in it. We started adding ice to our dog's water last month. At first, I was concerned it would give them brainfreeze. But they love it! They now run over to the water dish as soon as they hear me plopping some ice cubes in it.
I like Peacechick's idea of freezing clothes. That's one I've never tried, but it sounds perfect. I'm gonna put a headband in there right now! ~~ D.K.
I'm with you and the Heat....we have no air, just ceiling fans.
Look at my March 8 or 9th post from this year.
You may be surprised....or not.
And yes, some people have too much rain, and others, like us, do not!
; (
I knew a 74 yr old who delivered papers with a bike like the one you are interested in. She rode for miles and miles and helped her appear much younger.
Despite any of that, I'd go for it if I were you. Looks like a classic!
Cheers!
Yikes, sorry, it was March 19
We're in the middle of winter, frosts every morning. The drought has broken and, ironically, it's rained nearly every day.
We humans are a sorry lot!
Hot here too - fire season in California.
The photo is amazing. I'm guessing Paris, or somewhere in France, because of the building behind. It looks familiar - is that because I've seen the photograph before, of have I been to that spot? Who knows.
Like the old song said "Its Too Hot To Sleep"
Trafalgar Square
and
MORE
I believe theres a fountain in Chicago also if I remember correctly.
Been a long time since I've been back home. Makes you want to take your shoes off and hang your feet into the cool water.
God Bless.
Hey there....
ANonP : nope...not C-town, but sure looks like some fountains there...I guess ANY fountain would do at this point for all of our hot toesies...take care...
Larry: definently toooooo hot ...
Diva: it is beautiful...and it's funny it looks HOT and yet cool and soothingly familiar....but I bet you have been there too...
Daniel: Brrrrr, I will stick my head in the frig and think about you down there ;-)
CM: I will head over to march 19th post....
DK: yup clothes in freezer and icecubes for the critters...they do love the ice and popsicles too.
oooops it is Trafalgar ....yup.London...
( and I have already stuck my ahem ...toes in there....yup....long story for another day...it was the 1980's and it was lovely and cool...)
Thanks for guessing...
it finally rained enough to take the heat and humidity away today. apparently, madam, you are sending your craptastic weather to me- and i would just as soon you keep it :) just an ac in our bedroom to be able to sleep at night. otherwise- fans. and ice water. for me and the cats.
yup...I do believe in sharing the craptastic weather....hehe..I do love that word....anyways....it is a bit cooler...and still humid, but not as stifling....but lots of ice and lots of water...but I know the heat isn't over....not by a long shot...
