Late Friday Night.....More Snow, More Wind, warm thoughts below...

Another cold snowy day.....20's....15 with wind chill....animals are all in hibernation mode...so is 6-6...me I am working extra shifts for Christmas money....but the little yellow dog is not wanting to go out at all...poor little thing....With the High Winds...Cable and Internet have been troublesome....so if I am off for 24 hours again , please know it might be the Internet.....it was out from thursday afternoon to tonight.....ugh...

People at work were collecting food to give to local food banks....I guess many of them are falling short this year...in another town in Ohio they are trading Food for Guns, for some reason my son said this bothers him, like maybe if people were not hungry to begin with they would not have guns ? I think he might be on to something....The Library is also collecting food, and they will erase your overdue fees if you give....I better get right over there for that...

In the Meantime there is some news below , about PTSD and also some Friday Funnies....

Charlie Brown- OutKast Style Christmas song...( I love OutKast, and their song "Hey Ya")

Need Something More Soothing....Alan Parsons Project "Time" ( Beautiful Montage...)

Absolutely!

food banks here are begging for donations and supplies -- they claim the wall st fall out (wall st did contribute a lot to shelters, kitchens etc.) has really taken them to a point of collapse themselves.

i went out and bought a ton of canned and boxed stuff to drop off. for xmas this year (the jewish xmas that is) - the family is getting cards showing donations to charities in their name -- for people and animals that really need a nice holiday.

Was at the beach last weekend with my daughter and we were able to catch the tide rushing out Saturday and back in Sunday morning. It was wild watching the ocean pull back and seeing how the underwater currents had shaped the sandy bottom of the beach we were walking on. All sorts of ripples in the sand, rifts, depressions, and channels. There was definitely as pattern and while it was happening far too slow for a soundtrack APP song "Time" would have worked.

How much snow did you get?

We are not doing Xmas this year in the traditional sense. The last baby bird is all grown up & $ will be spent to go visit Grandpa in Ohio, who has stage 3-4 aggressive cancer. The real gift is the time we have with each other.

Food banks here are hurting too.
We always donate as well, what we can.

I think a lot of people who would have donated to food banks in the past are so afraid for their own ability to feed themselves that their impulse for generosity is in danger of extinction.

No Xmas here either. The only cheer to be had is the in the month of January when the reigns of power are passed to a man with intelligence and a vision for the future that does not stop at the end of his nose. That's the xmas present I'm waiting for.

I can't donate to the food banks this year. I might be one of their clients soon.

It must be nice having snow on the ground. It's still over 80 degrees here, and my fans are still running. Isn't it supposed to be winter soon?

Sounds cold, while I'm chilly with drizzle and 50s here in s. TX. You'll laugh at that!

The food bank here is struggling, which is noticeable at our church's twice-monthly food pantry.

Our banks & grocery stores have bins set by the exit doors for collecting canned & pkg goods for the needy. I haven't detected any less quantity in the bins. Also I noticed today, a community center downtown has a big banner outside that free Thanksgiving Dinner will be provided all day for everyone. Cynical me wonders what the catch is, afterall this is mormon country.

Maybe we could influence the restaurants to give their helpings of toss out food to charities, of course we'd have to change the laws surrounding such things first. Then we could change the laws on other massive throw away(s) from many, if not all, of the major corporations, etc. The idea that nothing is free, to me, smacks of elitism. Imagine all the good that could come from such "conservatism"????

Enigma,
Hope you are busy working and haven't lost your internet connection again.

We've contributed to the food bank every month for many years now. Some months less and some months more. Even five dollars can make a big difference right now!

Hope you have a good week!

Just dropping by to say hi. We have no snow here in DC, but it's been cold enough for it.

I see you're prepping a couple of new blogs for January. See you there then.

HI E ~ Hope you are well.

Locally, they did set up an Official Food Rescue program- where they have restaurant food leftovers donated, the food bank comes & picks it up & volunteer crews come put it in ziplock bags & refrigerated or frozen.
Lots of food also comes from the hospital, as well.

They get a huge amount of food to people in need as a result.

Great program.

Happy Thanksgiving, Allie - miss your e-mails, and hope you're doing well.

Don't work too hard and get sick (the only good thing is you're a nurse so you'd have all the answers - smile). Diane

I've missed you. Mostly my fault. But I hope you've had a scrumptious Thanksgiving. Stay warm.

My big dog Cyrus is not not wanting to go outside either. His bladder is huge, but not that huge. I'm worried for him. But we see the house call vet once a month. He says we'll never know what Cyrus went through in his first nine years of shelter life. He is indeed a special needs dog. And I'm kind of a special needs person, so...
