We're gonna crush 'em tommorow. If we can get the Vote out. I dropped by the local Obama office today. In addition to calling Dems to show up at the polls tommorrow I also volunteered to give rides. Even in our little town some people have trouble getting to the polls. I'll be picking up one such needful person tommorrow. A 20yr old Private in the U.S. Army.
Thanks for posting all this Enigma. Looks like such a huge crowd!! I tried to catch up on your efforts to vote - were you able to do so and I just didn't catch that particular post? I'm rooting for you.
Here in very red GA, some statistics for you or any of your readers that might be interested:
Pundits as well as the Obama campaign have speculated that if 29-30% of the total vote in GA is African-American, Obama will be competitive in Georgia (the African-American vote has been approx. 20-22% in recent elections).
As of the end of early voting, 35% of the votes have been cast by African Americans. (we know this because in Georgia, when you vote in the general election, you fill out a space to indicate race, instead of political affiliation.) That's 5-6% over what we might need!
This makes me hopeful we can turn GA blue, but for some reason, McCain is still polling ahead in GA. So, we'll see. When my husband and I voted, it was about a 30 minute wait. We live in a very red area beyond the Atlanta suburbs. In our town, there are several Pentecostal churches, so that means they probably love you-know-who.
Thank you one and all for your beautiful thoughts...Keep Hopemongering folks - we are almost there.....
And yes, I voted -will blog about it this eve..great Early Voting Experience...beautiful...
( Jackie:: that Georgia Information is amazing,..I met Georgia Supporters today..bless them- they came and were outside supporting our line- they brought food and snacks and good spirits- it was something...I am blogging on them later...I have a photo of them ....wonderful..)
