"FROM NEWSWEEK:::::
"NEWSWEEK has also learned that Palin's shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported. While publicly supporting Palin,McCain's top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous
profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy threesuits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family—clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost.An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

A Palin aide said: "Governor Palin was not directing staffers to put anything on their personal credit cards, and anything that staffers put on their credit cards has been reimbursed, like an expense. Nasty and false accusations following a defeat say more about the person who made them than they do about Governor Palin."

McCain himself rarely spoke to Palin during the campaign, and aides kept him in the dark about the details of her spending on clothes because they were sure he would be offended. Palin asked to speak along with McCain at his Arizona concession
speech Tuesday night, but campaign strategist Steve Schmidt vetoed the request."

"The vetting process was truncated" ... yup cut down to a brief meeting and a phone call ... good enough for government work.

Remember Bush had the same problem realizing that Africa is a continent, not a country?

But wow, to not know what countries might be in NAFTA, is so very, um, palinesque. What did she think "NORTH AMERICAN Free Trade Agreement" would include? Russia?

I think it is criminal to have withheld this information from the voting public.

There's a seven-part series on newsweek.com, being published every day starting yesterday. Their reporters were granted year-long access to the McCain & Obama campaigns on the condition that none of findings appear until after Election Day. The first part (yesterday) covers the early Obama campaign. He is even better when you know more of these little details. Today is supposed to be McCain. Can't wait til they reach the Palin part.

But I still think stuff like this should've been made public. What's the purpose of hiding crucial info from the voters? Hmmmm ... I can only think of one reason to suppress truth & it ain't pretty, even when dressed by Neiman-marcus.

Suffice it to say Palin was not ready for prime time.
I can't go into too much reminiscing about how bad Palin was, because it is a moot point for now.

Maybe we should be thanking her for her part in the failure of the campaign?

On second thought, the hate mongering she was coached/allowed to do was atrocious, and she agreed to do it. So she either thought it was a good strategy (the palling around with terrorists schpeal),
or did not have the personal integrity to find that crossed the lines of being ethical.
In either case, it contributed to her campaign demise.

Let's not forget Charles Gibson did one of the rare interviews w Palin.... he asked the Bush Doctrine question.

To his credit, he asked viewers what kinds of questions to ask Palin & got a solid response that they did NOT want *fluff & softball* type interviews.
We did not want a beauty queen retrospective &
stories of Todd's snowmobile championship.

We certainly did not want time dedicated to such topics as flag lapel pins.

Leave out the fluff and softball items, and Palin came up empty. Turns out even more empty than we thought!

It is amazing to me that she was THIS bad, and the MEdia kept it hidden...none of us should ever doubt how dangerous it is to have Propaganda controlling what we see , hear and learn...

I can't wait to read the whole newsweek article.

I hope she gets taxed for all that stuff she bought too.

"when the Republican Party audits its books."?
I did not know they had the capability.
No doubt she damaged the campaign as soon as she opened her mouth. However I think they would of been defeated whoever was chosen as running mate.
Peace.
