(1) Center for Policy Analysis breaks down the House Bill.
It is worth looking over, even though the Senate Bill might be stronger, and has no Stupak Amendment.

(2) This report by the Commonwealth.org compares the Senate and the House Versions ( Both of these were found by Ray Beckerman).

(3) Delusional Ignorant Sarah Palin got her hate on early this am, Putting on her Twitter page to KILL the HCR Bill. ( And sadly she has 25,000 of her dumb RWNJ's as followers ).

Teddy blasting on HCR:

So they Voted whether to proceed...it was tense, voted at their desks...Senator Byrd arrived, pushed in his wheelchair....
and It was hard to hear the Responses...But we tweeted when we heard them...and finally it reached 60 YAYS and 39 Nays..
oddly Voinovich did not show and did not vote...really strange. I don't know WHY he did not show- but truely a coward.
His "letter" is posted in the comments, still unclear why this Historic Vote he would not vote. The News Coverage was pathetic, CNN and MSNBC both broke in with a little 2 Minute update- that was it. FOX covered "it", mostly be letting Repug Senators come on and whine....

BUT we should all know after many monthes of hard work and battle that we did get what Millions of UnderInsured and UnInsured Needed....a Path to Reform.....

So after Thanksgiving...the Debate and battle will begin anew...

SEN. VOINOVICH STATEMENT ON SEN. REID HEALTH CARE BILL

November 20, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator George V. Voinovich (R-OH) issued the following statement today on U.S. Senator Harry Reid’s (D-NV) health care proposal:

“Americans watching the health care debate in Washington should know that the actions of Congress will have far-reaching consequences on their lives and our entire economy.

“The two-thousand page, two-trillion dollar bill proposed by Sen. Reid cuts Medicare, raises taxes, increases premiums, hurts states and threatens the health choices that millions currently enjoy. This is not reform, and it is not what the American people are asking for. That is why I cannot support Sen. Reid’s health care bill and will not support the vote on the motion to proceed to the bill.

“At a time when Ohio's unemployment rate is at 10.5 percent, new health care legislation should first do no harm to the economy. Sen. Reid’s bill is full of budget gimmicks and will cost Americans $2.5 trillion over the next decade, ignoring the fact that we cannot even take care of our current obligations. The bill will also raise taxes on Americans by half a trillion dollars while cutting Medicare by nearly the same amount – hurting our nation’s seniors. And, CBO says this bill will increase federal health costs, not lower them like health care reform was supposed to achieve.

“Just this week, our national debt surpassed the $12 trillion mark. My colleagues know we face a fiscal train wreck, but are refusing to look at the health care debate from a financial viewpoint. As a nation, we already spend $2.2 trillion annually on health care. We must ask ourselves, ‘What is sustainable?’

“Paying for health care reform by placing additional financial burdens on American families and small businesses will only further impede our ability to compete in the global marketplace and, ultimately, our economic recovery.

“Additionally, I cannot support Sen. Reid’s proposal because I believe any health reform bill must protect all human life from conception to natural death and am adamantly against allowing federal funding for abortions.”

– END

I thought of you while watching the vote!

I knew it was all over when McConnell started sobbing and pleading for one ("just one") democrat to join him.

Senate OKs procedural vote on healthcare debate, 60-39

Democrats and their allies formally moved their healthcare bill to the Senate floor tonight, rebuffing Republicans and ensuring that lawmakers will get a long and acrimonious debate on the overhaul of the healthcare system.

All 58 Democrats and the two independents who usually vote with them backed cloture on a motion to proceed, a needed procedural step to bring the Democratic-backed healthcare bill to the floor and open formal debate. Thirty-nine Republicans opposed the motion.

Tonight's action means that the Senate can begin its debate after the Thanksgiving recess. But it doesn't ensure any outcome: Centrist Democrats said they voted to allow debate, though they insisted they would be proposing amendments, as will Republicans.
