Angels in Arizona.....

Christin Gilmour decided that the Funerals needed peaceful protection when she heard that the Westboro Church had planned to protest Christina Green's funeral and the others funerals. Even though a law was passed this week to protect the Funeral of the youngest victim, the Westboro Baptist Church had still planned their hate filled vigils for the other funerals. So she organized people to stand and protect the Funeral Processions and the Grievers from this Hateful group. So they made Angel Wings and others came wearing white. Here is more about her efforts and this article tells of the support she received from far and wide....

(( For those that aren't aware, the Westboro Baptists Church last action was at the Funeral at Elizabeth Edwards and for that event People organized loud singing groups of Christmas Carolers to combat the Protesters.))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friends in Arizona posted and blogged and tweeted this week, showing us that the long lines of people that waited to go to the Memorial. They spoke of the long lines of quiet people standing together, being kind to each other, sharing drinks and
tending to each other as they waited many hours. The event held over 20,000 and more than 14,000 had to go to overflow seating at the football stadium. Knowing how many people waited for hours to pay their respects and honor those hurt and killed says that Arizona is not all full of the rhetoric of Jan Brewer and the Tea party. I wish the MSM had shown these long lines of people and even interviewed them so we would know how those living there felt about all that they had experienced in their state. I wish those lines of people had had a Voice.
Goddess bless these good people but I am in dire need of an explanation . Why is that church, those horrible hatefilled group of people, allowed to do this? Why hasn't our guberment stepped in to stop all hate filled Christian groups that continue to difile and disgrace their faith with this type of display? Do they think this is God telling them to do this? How can a 9 year old innocent earn hate from these people? What are we, Amerika, going to do about this?
Dragonscrone....
I don't understand the hate that goes into the Westboro Church crowd...I first encountered protesters at funerals in the 90s...taking care of AIDS patients in Seattle .....they would show up ( I am not sure they were Westboro.,..) but either way I am not sure who they pray to or how they think their religion allows them to harrass people that are grieving...mourning should be protected....I have a hard time understand how people spewing hateful intimidating chants is considering "protected 1st amendment speech"....but that is just me...
( I also was horrified to read they showed up at Elizabeth Edwards funeral...that seems so pointless and cruel...but atleast Christmas Carolers drowned them out..hopefully as more and more events they get blocked it will thwart their enthusiasm...)
I was floored to hear the Westboro "church" planned to disrupt these funerals.
What kind of a total disconnect from reality are they on-- it disturbed me & was awful enough they disrupted military funerals....
families grieving w the ultimate loss....
I always though it was a matter of time before some marine lost it w Fred Phelps & his ill timed displays of hate.
I'm glad a quick legislative action banned the worst of it, but I wish they would get a clue.
I seriously doubt they gain any recruits, and other legal actions have protected the Phelps hate group's actions as "free speech".
The angles idea was creative.
The angels idea is wonderful and the number of people showing their respects for those killed in Arizona is also very touching. The Westboro Baptist "Church" is a horrible organization, I don't understand their motivations at all. Do they really think they are doing God's work? Unfortunately Fran is right, it is protected free speech for them to do this stuff. Sickening though it is. I guess if they were being violent or inciting violence that could be stopped but they can't stop them from just gathering in groups to protest something.
