Prayer Flags and Hope

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
When I am really frustated I clean, I try to set things right put them in order.Whether it be Bad Buscho News or News in Iraq, I try to keep my home feeling safe, as a refuge from all that is Wrong right now. So the day Scooter's sentence was commuted, my house was sparkling. Today Valerie Plame's case was thrown out of Federal Court, so I cleaned and scrubbed. I wanted the world to feel Right again. It didn't. Then there was a huge storm, it rained buckets, "gullywashers" they call it here by the Lake. It felt cleaner, the air felt fresher, and my head was not pounding as much after the monsoon rains.
*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
I am always looking for Prayer Flags. One day I will go to Nepal and see The Prayer Flags, thousands of them wavering in the wind, carrying prayers to the Gods and Ancestors and Heaven. In the meantime, I make prayer flags out of old hankerchiefs and napkins and paint messeges on them in calligraphy ( Japanese), and hang them with care on little lines on my porch and in my yard. ( I have done this since son was very small). But what I have noticed is that I always am looking for the Flags, whether it be curtains waving in a window or laundry , sheets and towls waving in the breeze on a clothesline.

After the Rains today I went for a walk and realized that I was looking for The Prayer Flags, because I was looking for some Hope, even for a moment blowing in the wind.
Namaste.

I do the same thing - clean like there's no tomorrow. It's a good use for my anger and frustration and the bathtub doesn't mind my raging scrubbing. As for the prayer flags, We could make some out of lovely light, soft, gentle cloth. That might feel good, too. Raise the flag of hope!

Bad news? Bush gives the finger once again to us all? Stressed out with traffic, smog, bills and the neighbor's yappy dog? I do spiritual stuff, too. I take a walk, take out the trash, breathe deeply, meditate.

Or I just chuck all that and make a peanut butter sandwich.

Newsguy....hey taking out the garbage is VERY spritual...and so are peanut butter sandwichs...

Ball of Light: wow....you again knocked my socks off....how do you do this ? Joan of arc, and the haitian goddess- wow- she is amazing, and Eric Clapton playing one of my favorite songs...boy I don 't know how much more spoliing I can take....you are a wonder....

ok... no more spoiling...

i was beginning to think i've been a bit out of line and beyond the bounds of polite social discourse... impulsive - sometimes; excessively focused - maybe; wrong about the nature and rarity of an individual soul of such high-frequency and the beauty and hope and value you represent (at least to me, and, as i've read comments of others, here & elsewhere) - not a chance

WOW...Pinks video just totally blew me away...I am going to link it to the Title- thank you....

( ahem....someone should check their mail....)

aaah, Pinks video says it all (with real feeling): GWB has NEVER done any hard work!

E, at first I thought you were referring to the Pink Floyd video balloflight linked. I go way back with them, to 1970 where they blew everyone away in a high school gym in Anaheim. I remember that particular video from "The Wall" (where Bob Geldof cut off his eyebrows -- I know, amidst all the strange & terrifying images, I fixate on some minor detail). Oh please, this can't be the future with Bushco, please, noooo.

I would hang a million prayer flags from the highest peaks, a zillion if necessary, to avoid that future. ~~ D.K.

Ocean Shaman: I know he shall pass, I know...but I am not a patient woman....and he has caused so much pain....but like a Kidney Stone....he will pass, but painfully...

DK: yup.....Pink Floyd....that is amazing..I wonder if they even remember their gym playing days ? No I linked PINK" her video " Dear Mr. President" to the title....it is amazing..and poignant....when she sings about take a Walk with me, and "Hard Work"...she nails it...
