Take Me Away....

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
It's Friday, it has been a long long week with sizzling heat. For some reason my 1966 Cutless has been on my mind all day. You have heard me talk of it before, the cherry red beauty with the creamy Vanilla Leatherette interior and the bitchin sound system. But because it is soooooo hot any car would meet my Fantasy needs. All I want is to go sit in a long sleek car with AC and roll up the windows and listen to music from long ago. I want to drive to a unfamiliar 7-11 and order the biggest Big Gulp they have ....hmm, or maybe I need a Slurpie. And when night begins to fall and the sun is setting I would drive faster, turn up the volume and put down the windows and let it just blow Everything away....

*** Free Ride for whoever comes up with the BEST song to go with this photo....***

Enigma4ever, as soon as i saw the photo this popped into my head...

Crazy bout a mercury

Well if I had money
Tell you what Id do
Id go downtown and buy a mercury or two
Crazy bout a mercury
Lord Im crazy bout a mercury
Im gonna buy me a mercury
And cruise it up and down the road

Well the girl I love
I stole her from a friend
He got lucky, stole her back again
She heard he had a mercury
Lord shes crazy bout a mercury
Im gonna buy me a mercury
And cruise it up and down the road

Well hey now mama
You look so fine
Ridin round in your mercury 49
Crazy bout a mercury
Lord Im crazy bout a mercury
Im gonna buy me a mercury
And cruise it up and down the road

Well my baby went out
She didnt stay long
Bought herself a mercury, come a cruisin home
Shes crazy bout a mercury
Yeah shes crazy bout a mercury
And cruise it up and down the road

Well if I had money
I tell you what Id do
Id go downtown and buy me a mercury or two
Crazy bout a mercury
Im gonna buy me a mercury
And cruise it up and down the road

... and doing a google on the song that popped into my head & seeing your penchant for paintings garnered these links.

Aballofight....the Mercury song is amazing, and that indeed may be a 49....

DK: hmm, good choice...

Larry: and Old car and Cartunes, not a bad idea....not at all.

& then rereading the post I figured this may be even more appropriate :)

No particular place to go - Chuck Berry - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IZgWZWAc3U

Ridin' along in my automobile
My baby beside me at the wheel
I stole a kiss at the turn of a mile
My curiosity runnin' wild

Cruisin' and playin' the radio
With no particular place to go.

Ridin' along in my automobile
I'm anxious to tell her the way I feel,
So I told her softly and sincere,
And she leaned and whispered in my ear
Cuddlin' more and drivin' slow,
With no particular place to go.

No particular place to go,
So we parked way out on the Kokomo
The night was young and the moon was bold
So we both decided to take a stroll
Can you imagine the way I felt?
I couldn't unfasten her safety belt!

Ridin' along in my calaboose
Still tryin' to get her belt aloose
All the way home I held a grudge,
For the safety belt that
wouldn't budge
Cruisin' and playin' the radio
With no particular place to go.

It's gotta be "Little Deuce Coup" by the Beach Boys. I had one of those and it was a gem. Think cool thoughts.

Okay, since returning from the *Big Screen* where I saw "Sicko" yesterday eve, I can't get the Stones "Street Fightin' Man" outta my head.

But it's not so much for cruisin', it's more revoltin' than that.

(I think ablalloflight got here the firstest with the mostest and has set the bar for the rest of us very high.)

While all this heat is on, is there any chance that the White House could melt and sweep George and Dick away in the flood?

Lake Shore Drive
by Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah

Lyrics for: Lake Shore Drive

There's a road I'd like to tell you about, lives in my hometown.
Lake Shore Drive the road is called and it'll take you up or down.
From rats on up to riches, fifteen minutes you can fly.
Pretty blue lights along the way help you right on by.
And the blue lights shining with a heavenly grace, help you right on by.

And there ain't no road just like it, anywhere I've found.
Running south on Lake Shore Drive heading into town.
And just slipping on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound.

And it starts up north in Hollywood, water on the driving side.
Concrete mountains rearing up throwing shadows just about five.
Sometimes you can smell the green if your mind is feeling fine.
There ain't no finer place to be than running Lake Shore Drive.
And there's no peace of mind or place you'll see, like riding on Lake Shore Drive.

And there ain't no road just like it anywhere I've found.
Running south on Lake Shore Drive heading into town.
And just slipping on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound.

It's Friday night and you're looking clean, too early to start the rounds.
A ten minute drive from the Gold Coast back, make sure you're pleasure bound.
Then it's four o'clock in the morning and all the people have gone away.
Just you and your mind and Lake Shore Drive, and tomorrow is another day.
And the sunshine's fine in the morning time, tomorrow is another day.

And there ain't no road just like it anywhere I've found.
Running south on Lake Shore Drive heading into town.
And just snaking on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound.

Okay...here I am Sat. Youtubing...and the dog is chasing flies...
so I have looked at this list...and listened to it...

(1) The Mercury song is great- great lyrics- and I thought it was an older Blues Song- but when I looked it up on YouTube- it is too well, Country for me....darn...cuz I love the words....( I thought it was an old Derrik and the Dominos or Eric Clapton....but I can't find that version- the older bluesy version...maybe I dreamt it).

(2) ZZtop- not quite right...but very very good...( also reminds me of an old boyfriend from past- so might have some sticky issues with it...sorry)

(3)Now I have to say FallenMonk is definently on to something...and I do love Little Feat- and they are a part of my youth ;-) and Boy the Let it Roll Video is smoking....I will try to add to the Link above...if Blogger lets me...( I am still having trouble posting YouTubes- for some unknown reason).

(4) Now I could not find Diva's song...but I have to say Chuck Berry is now a contender..cuzz well the car and the music kind of are very in sync...

oh, and yes, this is a very good way to spend a Saturday...

Gone - Pearl Jam

No more upset mornings
No more trying evenings
This American Dream I am disbelieving
When the gas in my tank feels like money in the bank
Gonna blow it all this time, take me one last ride
For the lights of this city, they only look good when I'm speeding
I wanna leave em all behind me cause this time I'm gone
Long gone,
This time I'm letting go of it all
So long,
This time I'm gone

In the far off distance
As my taillights fade
No one thinks to witness but they will someday
Feel like a question is forming
And the answer's far
I will be what I could be
Once I get out of this town

For the lights of this city
They have lost all feeling
Gonna leave em all behind me cause this time I'm gone
Long gone,
This time I'm letting go of it all
So long,
Long gone, I'm letting go of it all
Yeah, This time I'm gone

If nothing is everything
If nothing is everything I'll have it all
If nothing is everything then I will have it all
