WHEN COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE TASERED WHILE RESTRAINED WITH 50,000 VOLTS, WE HAVE A PROBLEM...GO TO CROOKS AND LIARS....TODAY.

Our Country is in Trouble, A College Student was attempting to ask Senator Kerry about Impeachment and the Voting Fiasco in 2004, he was tackled and wrestled to the ground and TASERED WHILE BEING RESTRAINED BY UP TO EIGHT"OFFICERS". ( I am not sure if they were Campus Police or Gainesville Police). Please note when you watch the video- that the Students were cheering because Kerry had agreed to ANSWER THE QUESTIONS, THEY WERE NOT CHEERING THE POLICE...

He was arrested and restrained, and TASERED AFTER HE WAS ON THE GROUND AND RESTRAINED, he yells help, and he says to please let me go,and THEN they Taser him. He was charged with Felony Charges- for VIOLENCE??? He had to spend the night in jail after being tasered and tortured with 50,000 volts, and now faces Felony Charges ? What is Wrong with this Country? Are University Police there allowed to Restrain Students and then Taser them- this is Torture.

FOOTNOTE: Tasers are very dangerous, there are many Deathes a year from them , because they disrupt heart rythyms, as well as many states are banning them for this reason. If Someone has heart condition, abnormality or damage, they KILL. And as another interesting aside Bernie Kerrick and Rudy had a Company that invested ALOT of money in Taser being sold to Police Departments around the Country......and the information has been pulled off the Internet. ( after there were 70 taser related deathes in 2004).

I am not sure what we as Parents do next....BUT this is Serious....and definently about Intimidating the Youth of the Country and to remind them we are in a Police State.

MORE HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES: TODAY ON CROOKS&LIARS THERE IS A CRITICAL POST UP BY LOGAN MURPHY ABOUT GOLD STAR FATHER CARLOS THAT WAS BEATEN AT THE DC MARCH BY THE "GATHERING EAGLES", THIS WAS NOT COVERED AT ALL BY MSM , EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE NOTIFIED. PLEASE DO READ THIS STORY, THIS IS PART OF LIVING IN A POLICE STATE. CRITICAL ISSUE. WE NEED TO ORGANIZE A BLOGGERS COALITION TO BETTER COVER SUCH HORRORS AND OFFER SOME SORT OF MEDIA COVERAGE TO SUCH PEOPLE WHEN THEY GET HURT, AND MAYBE EVEN BETTER PROTECT THEM.

You forgot to add, "...and charged with 'inciting a riot'".

Unfortunately, those are not all trolls. I recognize several of them as regulars. They are the radical middle that showed up after the 06 elections. The comments on there are absolutely disgusting. If this is what the so-called left in this country think, we have lost.

There are very few people left that have compassion. I fear we are a dying breed in this country.

Seriously? When did that happen? CNN reported earlier that he was just charged with resisting arrest.

enigma4ever said...

They just reported on MSNBC - he faces FELONY charges, and 'For use of Violence" was also added....WTF? I really don't know WHAT to do folks...I am stymied....Holy Hell...

navyswan said...

I didn't see any "riot" on the video. What the hell is this country coming to?

enigma4ever said...

I DON'T KNOW ....I JUST DON'T KNOW... so sorry navy swan.....

( I am still trying to stop the trolls over at C&L- who are these people???)

Every time another one of these events happens, I am reminded that America is probably too far gone to save. It is a horribly sinking feeling. However, this does make me want to get out there and participate in some good ole civil disobedience.

Oh, btw, hello. I didn't mean to take over your thread, being a first time commenter and all. Nice site.

I included this in part of the whole story today. I have heard ot covered off and on today. They are facing him with a Felony but the Dean is speaking out against the cops and what they did.
They definitely went way over. I heard a Student speaking for the student body that did a fantastic job of eloquating the Bush style heavy handednest and attempt to still dissent. It bothered me because Kerry wanted to answer his concerns.
Knowing this is Bush style crap and the dissention is going to grow as Bush worsens his warmongering I really had to dwell on what Anon said yesterday. It really sucks pardon me but I included that too and would love to talk to you about it here or on E or anything. This is friggen unbelievable and will get worse sadly!

Hi Patriot....The problem is that it really was about QUESTIONS.....so We the People can't even ask Questions? At a Public Forum? of a Senator? This is what it has come to? Horrifying....Parents should be horrified, and as far as I know it is now after 6pm...and Still NO Justice Officials have said anything or issued a Statement..And I would LOVE to hear What the Student has to say and also WHAT his parents have to say....And yes, Frigging Unbelievable- you said it...

It seems that the Bush administration has really done a lot of damage to freedom of speech and dissent in our country. It terrifies me.

Maybe I'm naive. I think the best response to these assaults which we are increasingly experiencing is an IMMEDIATE, VAST, PERSISTENT, NONVIOLENT outpouring of MORE DISSENT.

We should be battering down the walls with well placed, well meaning dissent. We should do so with a vast number of voices, in a wide range of venues, about every worthy issue, repeatedly, over a very long period of time.

When one student, or one mother, is "silenced," fifteen more should take his or her place. When 15 are silence, 150 should take their place.

We must thoroughly insist on our right to speak. We need to insist frequently, with respect, and with the aim of resolving, not inflaming, conflicts. No knee-jerk reactionism. So we also need to differ with some restraint, avoid jumping on any soapbox until the truth of any given situation is tested and born out.

Then we need to use every means possible and avoid simply preaching to the choir. If newspapers won't publish your letter, staple your opinions on telephone poles near bus stops. In that spirit, anyway.

The loss of our freedom to disagree, to challenge, to ask, is a real indication of sliding towards things much more dangerous. Gradual, incremental loss of freedoms is easy to overlook, easy to adjust to. When we wake up and find ourselves living in fear it is too late.

I was totally shocked both at the action and the coverage. Sure the kid was being a pain in the posterior. The nice thing about the Constitution is that you get to be a pain as long as you are a peaceful aggravation.

It is a mark of just how sad an effect this administration has had on policy that the police thought they could get away with this.

Oh well, we are bringing Democracy to Iraq.

I think what you wrote is beautiful...and IS THE PLAN....What we should do...EVERY PARENT HAS TO LOOK IN THEIR HEART AND SEE WHAT IS THERE. CAN THEY LET THIS HAPPEN TO THEIR SON OR THEIR DAUGHTER...???
I am devastated that Anyone is Okay with this- or think the kid deserved it...And I agree , we should leave essays on coffee tables and at the Library...and we should put leaflets in the newspaper boxes...ANYTHING to make people examine WHO WE ARE AS A PEOPLE....Our Democracy is in Danger....

Jamie: He is a college Student- he is allowed to ask Questions..and yeah, maybe annoy - so what..plenty of great Journalists were total pains...it does not matter...we are FIGHTING FASCISM HERE IN IT'S RAWEST FORM...
and yeah, you are right, the Democracy that we "took" to Iraq got left there.....cuz it ain't here...lordy....We the People are in trouble...esp when I have spent hours over at Crooks and Liars and trying to teach Constitutional Law....

This is typical of Bush's America and its desire to strip Americans of their rights.

I too would like to hear John Kerry answer these questions.

NEWSGUY said...

I voted for Kerry and was crushed when Bush once again engineered an election.

That said, I think Kerry could have shown more cajones standing up to the campus cops and ordering them to lay off. After all it was HIS forum and he was essentially in charge. This entire incident was right in front of him, except for perhaps the tasering which happened in the back of the room. Perhaps Kerry did not see the tasering.

Still, early on, it seems to me that Kerry certainly could have forcefully ordered the cops to leave the kid alone. i think Kerry did not want to answer questions about the 2004 election; these are questions he has dodged ever since he let Bush steal Ohio.

The way I see it -- and I could be wrong -- is that Kerry's non-response was emblematic of the way Democratic politicians respond to horrible events these days. This event and Kerry's response was almost like an editorial cartoon come to life.

A couple of videos of the event over at
http://democraticnewsroom.blogspot.com, if you haven't yet seen the video.

And enigma has graciously left a lengthy and thoughtful comment over there, as well. Thanks, nurse.

Just watched the clip- Most disturbing- and the strange part was that Kerry was willing to answer his questions. The guy was a classic college student, ready to change the world, and not just spouting off out of thin air... he was referring to passages in a specific book, which Kerry said he'd read.
My College student son was told he could not make a speech on Campus, unless he is in a designated free speech zone. Believe me, this State University ain't "free" & he is a student.
I guess I should be glad he was not tasered.
If I were the parent of that student, I'd be taking that discussion to the courts & calling the ACLU.
Thankfully, they have it on film. Sure his questions were *charged*, but he was staying at the microphone, he was not presenting any physical danger or out of control stuff, no lunging forward
or threats. He was asking his questions passionately- the cops & the taser situation were entirely abusive- but Kerry was still trying to answer his questions through the whole nightmarish incident! That boy should wind up with free tuition and lunch money!

We have been a police state for some time know and it is only going to get worse I believe.

If two or three guards or police officers can't handle one person without resorting to that type of violence than they shouldn't be police officers or guards.

I never use to be afraid of being pulled over in traffic if I might have broken the law {speeding, no left turn, roll through stop sign} etc....

Now though I fear of being tasered or shot by a trigger happy cop.

And I come from a family where my uncle was a thirty year veteran of the Chicago Police Force.

That says a lot about where our country is now from what it use to be.

The people better wake up soon because by the time they do they won't be able to leave the country to escape a police state regime.

No fly or train list name keeps you here if your on it. Just something to think about.

God Bless.

AnonyP: thank you for your thoughts..and I think we all know that this is not the America we thought it was and 6 years later here all are...and we need to decide WHAT next...to stay or leave..and if we stay we KNOW that we have to DO Somthing..fight back....to try to save what is left of this country...

Got Democracy: All of us with kids should be very concerned and definently trying to figure this out...and quickly..because this could get way worse before next years election.....but no I think he was a pretty normal kid..asking questions..
( and do go over to Newsguys' I explained all the research I found...)

NEWSGUY: I know that was the weird part- in the back ground you could hear Kerry droning on- which legally is VERY helpful- becuase one of his charges was that he disrupted the meeting - but he clearly didn't and he was at the microphone...they turned it off of course..But I thought the same thing you did about Kerry- but maybe he couldn't see the back...I am not sure..but once again...no balls..as usual...

Larry: you and me ...I would LOVE to hear the answers..do you think we ever will???

( They finally closed the Thread at C&L...so I am putting Bob Marley on..." Get Up, Stand up for YOUR rights..."...)what an awful day..

After hearing the whole story, although I don't think the kid should have been tasered, he was looking to get kicked out or arrested. I don't have that much sympathy for him anymore. And according to Kerry's statement, he didn't even realize the kid had been tazered and said he was more than willing to continue the discussion with the kid.

Also, the kid jumped in front of others who were to speak, so he could speak first. Nothing Kerry said to him to reassure him that he would have plenty of time to speak, was enough to shut the kid up with his ranting and raving. The kid didn't want to listen or converse, he wanted to get arrested. He deserved most of what he got.

Anne said...

he deserved to be tasered while handcuffed? that is scary thinking, and a good example of why i have lost most all hope for this country.
:::: deep sigh:::::

oh, and kerry is a coward for not getting involved. he really could have improved his wishy washy image, had he paid attention to what was happening.

enigma4ever said...

okay, I am still concerned about What the cops did, i think we have seen alot of spin the last 24 hours, and perhaps focus has been manipulated away from the issue, NO ONE should ever be thrown to the floor and tackled by a bunch of cops, and then tasered while restrained on the ground while handcuffed, I don't care if the student was annoying or not well liked, that does not in any way justify the Police Use of of Deadly Force. There was No reason or law that justifys them even to arrest him, and the charges are even bogus, he was asking questions. Did he protest his arrest- yes, would any of us also protest a bunch of cops ? I am a peaceful person, but with adrenaline pumping I think I would be upset....I also think Kerry should have taken some control of HIS meeting, and shown some leadership- I am not buying the "oh, I didn't know"....Once again we saw him at His Best Unassertive Self. But I think we should be VERY careful if anyone is going to start judging a College student - or saying Police are Justified to break laws and hurt people, or taser people that are restrained, or arresting people THEY view as annoying.

When living in a Police State it is important to try to remember we DO have a Constitution and and that We The People do still have Rights.....Justice is a fragile thing in this country at this point.

enigma4ever said...

I forgot to say that the officers did use deadly force and did assault him, by their own definition ( under Florida laws). They also violated Florida Laws, by Tasering someone that is already restrained. I know only 2 have been placed on Leave, but the Kid faces FELONY charges, even though it really is unclear WHAT laws he susposedly broke, and yet, they clearly broke laws.

So again, I am just asking that we all think this through carefully, it could have been one of our kids....

Tom Harper said...

I'm pretty sure it was the campus police. It sure must have taken a lot of courage for 4 - 8 cops to use a Taser against one person. And now the same cops are trying to have this student charged with violently resisting arrest, which is a felony.

Who Hijacked Our Country

enigma4ever said...

Yup...pretty insane..and did the Media cover today...no of course not..OJ and more Oj and Yes, MORE OJ....MSM is just a huge VOID in the Battle....

I don't care what the college guys political party or intentions where. This video made me sick. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the police have him on the ground, THEN taser him? This guy should have the police men's badges, a few million dollars, and get to taser the officers. Don't get me wrong, I very much respect police officers and the hard work they do. Everyday I lose more faith in the government that is becoming more of a police state.

Anonymous said...

I also forgot to say why did the men get "unpaid vacation"? If I did something like that to a cop, I would be in jail for a few years. This just shows that we have bad cops like we have bad senators, military personal, or any other part of government

enigma4ever said...

ANONY: the "officers" only 2 out of the 8 got PAID LEAVE WHILE THE MATTER IS INVESTIGATED...now I find it interesting that the Media has been busy humping the O story day and night now for over 30 hours and the TASER story has dropped to below the fold with disgusting haste....
