Friday Night Music and Thoughts.....12.28.07
*****************************************
There is some music and thoughts below.....I am so sorry that this has been such a painful week. There is posts below on Bhutto's Murder and also on the path to Healing.....Be good to yourselves this weekend.
This is Our Tree, put up with great care in my son's Room. Harry the Cat has been Climbing in The Tree. It is surrounded by my son's Nutcracker Collection, and the snowflakes that we made. And most of the ornaments we made, and they are not Cat Toys much to poor Harry's Dismay. The odd thing is that Xena , our other cat, who is almost 13 , has never gone near the tree, it has never interested her. The ornaments are all handmade by me and my son, from clay, paint, beads, juice lids, alot of glue and the occassional duct tape, and alot of sparkles.I have moved them all over the country, and repaired them over and over. They have survived floods, storms, and earthquakes, leaky UHauls and questionable storage. 6-6 is a teenager, but he still loves it when I put the tree up. Alas The Tree is coming down tonight, before Harry brings it down, but I wanted to share it with you...before it is Too Late...
I did link the Carole King "Too Late" song because it has been in my head all day....
namaste.

Lovely tree, such a shame to have to take it down. Cats sure do like the ornaments. Hope they were not drinking the water or eating tinsel. The snowflake windows added the perfect touch! Now, about Nutcracker ... hmmm, well, I like the wooden toys, but I STILL want the 3-hrs of my life back I endured watching the play performed live by the ballet nieces.
oooh, perfect Carol King for today, you know the part, "there's something wrong here, there can be no denying". Yes, indeed!
DK, oh it is a Fake tree, so no water..and harry is most interested in CLIMBING UP INTO THE TREE....he made it half way up one night before we looked up and saw him sitting IN the tree peering out like the world's biggest ornament.....( actually he looked very scared....he was tangled in the lights...which he likes ti chew on....just like that damn cat in VACATION...which I thought was SOoooo fictional.....)
And yes, the " Something Wrong here" is indeed the line that is trapped in my head ...and my heart...
My son has collected the Nutcrackers- mostly broken ones that are on sale after Christmas- and ALL have been repaired and re-glued....and painted....( he also used to collect Humpty Dumptys....he is funny about things like that....)
I don't wish to offend, especially after what happened to Benazir.... but, ultimately I don't think it would have made any difference had she won insofar as the ultimate disraveling of Pakistan. It's been too late for Pakistan for awhile now.
I'll spell this out better later.
Sorry Jolly, I don't agree....because nothing is spelled out, not when millions of people are trying to achieve change....if that was the case...we would not be a country...Ghandi would have had not effect in India...Mandela would still sit in Prison.....
Pakistan may be a stormy Country with a Precarious path.....but she was willing to come back and fight...and she did understand that timing was critical.....she was courageous, because she looked at the risks and came back anyway....because she valued her people more than the risk...that is what True Courage is.....
Half of fighting for Democracy is about HOPE....always....and Bhutto knew that...the other half is about BELIEVING...believing in the Future...Bhutto as a mother wanted a Better Future for her children....and all of the Children of her Country.....
Sorry enigma I have to agree with JooyRoger. Her death only brings the ineviteable explosion of Pakistan one step closer. It will not be avoided and will supply the excuse for Bush to have to intervene. watch 2008 unfold. As I keep saying, Bush has yet to do his greatest damage and this is all still just taking shape. You are a good one, Namaste!
Patriot: I am so tired of this, please stop doming here with the Doomsday Dialogue, if you want to do it over on your blog- fine.Don't you see you are helping Bush and his FearMongering Agenda ? But not here, don't you get IT? don't you see that I KNOW we are in Dark Times, all I try to do here is spread some Light, some Hope, Because it is NOT ALL DARK......have you read MLK or Mandela ? Ghandi? All of them taught that HOPE can keep even the smallest Flame Alive and enough to make Change Happen......
So I am asking you to stop it and think about What I wrote above and all of my posts here.....Because this is a Place of Hope, NOT FEAR EVER.....
namaste.
To Patriot and Jolly- try to look at the POST above- and not leave fear Messeges on a post about my Christmas tree....that my son and I put up....Something NICE....
Merry Christmas would have worked.....or gee "nice tree"....
New Years Eve...
So I took the tree down after Harry kept climbing into the tree and getting caught....and then he proceeded to CHEW on the Lights....just like the cat in that Vacation movie...OMG....so I took it down...and NOW he has been crying because it is gone.....the world's biggest most dangerous cat toy...
sigh...
this is the earliest I have ever ever taken The Tree down....One year I even left it up until Valentines Day...( and yes, I put Hearts on it...)
Hi E4E~ It was a beautiful X mas tree, too bad the kitty loved it a little too much. But you have to think in the kitty's mind it was like WOW!!! This is the best Xmas ever! My own personal tree & shiny things to chew on.... pure Bliss! (never mind the realities of gravity, or dynamics of electricity)
Funny you mention leaving the tree up-- we switched to a faux tree a few years ago... & then the family would always vote on leaving the tree up for another week....pleeeeease. I love sitting in the dark w just the tree lights on. Sorry you had to pack it in early, but sanity is a good way to start the New Year!
Ahhh Fran, I know you are right....sigh...and we do love the furry fellow...and I know in a week I will be able to laugh about it...
Well E, you made the kitty VERY happy.
The reason why we changed to a fake tree?
A few years ago, we thought we had found the best xmas tree farm ever (we live in the xmas tree capitol, in the pacific NW)... they had Clydesdale horses that pulled an open trailer, you could ride t to the outskirts & walk about the live trees to choose one to cut down. Afterwards, you threw teh tree on the cart & caught a ride back to teh main area, where they had a large stone fire pit to warm up at and the had kids dressed like elves serving complimentary hot cocoa. Perfect!
Until the next day, when I discovered while traipsing about looking for the right tree, I was walking in poison oak! In winter, they just look like bare sticks (no leaves on them). I am highly allergic & my eyes were sealed shut & I would up having to get cortisone shots & take steroids.
So much for the perfect tree thing! Other years it was raining or something, we kept pushing back when we'd get the fresh tree, & then wrangling to get it to fit in the base, keeping it watered, cleaning up after it.... all that jazz.
At least you got to enjoy it for a while, but take heart in knowing kitty enjoyed it even more!
