Monday 12.22.08: Still Frigging Cold here by the Lake....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is 6-6's cat Mr 20 Pounds of Snooky Love, sprawled in front of the nice warm TV in the TV room....with my little yellow dog...and they are watching Miami CSI...their favorite show ( they are overwhelmed by excitement and hence the snoring)......Okay, so it is still Freezing Ass Cold here by Lake Erie, as it is through much of the Midwest and the NorthEast.....I wanted to go Christmas Shopping yesterday....but I was locked out of my car...funny thing, I had this great New De-Icer I could have used on my frozen car locks...but guess where it is ? Yes, that would be correct- IN THE CAR....ahhh, very smart....So I walked the dog last night....not knowing it was now below Zero and with wind, negative 18, poor dog wrapped in an old sweater looking like Hobo Puppy as she took the Quickest piddle in the world, and me feeling like I am tap dancing on popsicles, because of the sheer ice under the snow....and I sneezed....it made a hideous noise like Someone had dropped their keys....Too Damn Cold...
I need to be Somewhere where I can wear surf shorts and flipflops....even to Christmas Shop....
So today's music is one of my favorite Christmas songs ( I posted the Greg Lake Version earlier this month)....But I am torn WHICH is the Better Version...both are very yummy...very....Stay warm...share the coco...I am off to work...I will be back later...in time for the Daily Show....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
U2 , Bono's version of "Father Christmas" ( my favorite Greg Lake Song)

Greg Lake's Vintage Version....

(its kind of ironic....the Greg Lake Version was made the year we left Vietnam..and it clearly has a Anti War ..Peace on Earth Messege....really touching....and I love that the refrain is "have a Brave New Year".....that says it all..you can read more here about why Greg Lake wrote the song....very moving.....

Bodhi likes to lay on the bed with the electric blanket. Last night we watched Shrek #3 (not so good) but Bodhi took interest in the little donkey/dragons turning his head this way then that way.

It is cold here as well. but hey it is Alaska!

I hope you can get warmed up soon.

Maybe you should watch Bill O'Reilly. That always gets you steamed! LOL!

Doh! De-icer in the car! If push comes to shove, you might want to try running an extension cord & run a hair dryer on the frozen lock for a while.

I had to do that for my Mom's outside back door once, it faced the prevailing winds & was frozen shut... could not get that door to open either from outside or inside.

That's funny your critters all huddled by the warm TV.

So the TV can warm up the pets, and the pets can warm up the humans. Their body temps are higher than ours.

But they shouldn't sleep on top of an elec blanket. Read the instructions! Nothing that weighs more than a couple pounds should be on top of an elec blanket. Any more weight can cause crimps in the wiring, hot spots & eventually a fire. So they can sleep UNDER the blanket, like a human .... or do what I used to do: turn the blanket on high & let it warm up the whole bed for about 1/2 hr before you want to go to sleep. Keep pets out of the room during this time. Then you & animals crawl in bed as you turn off the blanket. Ahhhh, it feels great & their body heat will keep the already warm blanket warm for hours.

I'd been wondering how fast a dog would have to pee outside when it's that cold. I guess the answer is pretty damn fast or it would be instant icicle!

actually I don't have a electric blanket...so no worries..( would not mind having one for me.....but the wiring in this house is so damn questionable- I think I will pass for now...)

About my little doggie- I dressed her in an old sweater that I shrunk....she hates it...it is so embarrassing- she wears it with her little tail down...and when it is this Cold she does what we call "Yoga Peeing" she won't squat- she litterally stands on her front legs and pees ....and it is done with great speed...very speedy...and then she turns around and hustles us to home....( I will try to get a photo of her in the sweater....I think she looks cute...)

You need to put in a video of a roaring fire! It won't make any difference to the cat but it will *look* warm!

We having our few days a year of cold weather. It was only in the 30s yesterday. Just a few days ago it was in the high 70s. It will get back up there in 60s/70s this week probably. The rose bush is blooming.

Very Happy Holidays to you and yours!

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- The daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has given birth to a son, a magazine reported Monday.

Bristol Palin, 18, gave birth to Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Saturday, People magazine reported online. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces. Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother, told the magazine that ''the baby is fine and Bristol is doing well.''

The governor's office said it would not release information because it considers the baby's birth a private, family matter. Palin family members, hospital employees and spokespeople for the governor's former running mate, John McCain, either would not confirm the birth or did not return messages from The Associated Press.

The father is Levi Johnston, a former hockey player at Alaska's Wasilla High School.

Palin announced on Sept. 1, the first day of the Republican National Convention, that her unwed daughter was pregnant. The campaign issued a statement saying Bristol ''and the young man'' would get married.

Levi Johnston's mother eventually disclosed that her 18-year-old son was the father. The following week, the young man attended the convention in St. Paul, Minn., when Palin accepted the vice presidential nomination.

The announcement that the unmarried Bristol Palin, 17 at the time, was pregnant immediately drew concerns that it could damage Palin's credibility as a religious conservative. But many observers noted the pregnancy served to humanize the Palins and showcase the candidate's rejection of abortion.

Sherry Johnston, Levi's mother, said in October that Bristol and her son were considering a summer wedding.

Levi Johnston told The Associated Press that month that he and Bristol loved each other and wanted to get married. Johnston, who dropped out of high school to take a job on the North Slope oil fields as an apprentice electrician, said he was a little shocked to learn that Bristol was pregnant but quickly warmed to the idea of being a father.

He said the two had planned to get married even before Bristol became pregnant.

Johnston, an avid hunter, hinted at the time that they were expecting a boy. He said he was already looking forward to taking the boy hunting and fishing.

Johnston's mother was arrested on felony drug charges this month after state troopers served a search warrant at her Wasilla home. According to authorities, she sent text messages to two police informants in which she discusses making drug transactions involving OxyContin, a strong prescription painkiller.

Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, have five children ranging in age from Trig, 7 months, to Track, 19. In between are Willow, 14; Piper, 7; and Bristol.

(This version CORRECTS the day of birth to Saturday, instead of Sunday, per the magazine.)
