My Absolute Favorite Moment of 2008.....Our History, Our President....

Thousands showed up at the Whitehouse on Penn Ave on November 4th Night after the Election....Sheer Joy....Reclaiming the White House For We the People....They Danced...they hugged...they sang...They rejoiced...They Cheered...As People were around the world and around the Country......People went to the Streets in Cities and Small Towns....Change had Come.
"A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

About Election Night 2008......
I rushed home from work on Election Night November 4th at 10:30 PM,expecting an All Nighter...and worried and wondering... and turned on the TV and 6-6 yelled to me "Ohio Went Blue", he was in his room watching CNN, ...I said Really ? REALLY ? WOW....and then I ran into the little TV room and turned the TV on to MSNBC and within minutes- I saw this Very Footage that I have posted below....and listened to Keith make THE Announcement that Obama was indeed OUR Next President.....It was the most Amazing Moment....It is 8 minutes of Footage of WE THE PEOPLE celebrating ..it is poignant..powerful...and moving.....I can not watch it even now without crying....It was and is the END of the Bush Regime....Finally.....Hope Means Power and Change Has Come.....

After Keith....the Victory Speech at Grant Park..

6-6 pointed out that the DNC Convention Night in August was pretty Amazing too..

I was so grateful to have Shared this WHOLE Election year with everyone...so many came and joined in as I blogged ALL of it, every single Debate ( and yes, even the Repug ones) and every press conference and many many Rallies and speechs....it was an amazing year...in so many ways...Unforgettable....Thank you to all of you for your hard work, your passion, your enthusiasm...for Fighting for Our Country.....and for being here and for Making History.

The Next Day Blue Gal made this Video showing People Around the World Celebrating.....it was beautiful..it showed the Joy and the spontaneous sharing of The Moment....

And Linked to the title is Johnny Nash " I Can See Clearly Now".....Never doubt the Power of Hope Folks....Believing is a powerful thing....any Community Organizer will tell you.....

What was your Favorite Moment that you will never forget of 2008 ??

Certainly the election & the whole, grueling primary process, made the end results even sweeter.
Right when McCain picked Palin, I thought for sure, this was his way of quitting- his farewell tour. The only thing he had going for himself was experience, and by picking a totally inexperienced VP, I assumed he wanted out.
Obama kept up with the slow & steady-- weathering a deluge of nasty accusations, and incidents (what is it with him & ministers??) He kept on the high road, and maintained a brilliant campaign strategy- courting red states, as well as blue.

Knowing Bush is on his way out was one thing, but getting in a new & improved regime was another.
The election was tight- but electoral vote wise it was a landslide, as many states flipped over to Blue.

Obama STILL has issues with Ministers as Warren spwes his discrimination against women and the gay community.

I still think Obama should appoint a committee to Vet a decent Minister.... and not have Warren,a s he is a big blemish on the ceremony.
I'm tired of excuses of why it is acceptable to discriminate against LGBT citizens, and make excuses and exceptions.

It has been suggested rather than BOOOO Warren, that people consider turning their back to him for his invocation stage time.

Yet, I still send e mails to the Obama camp asking them to make the change-- it is not too late.

But yes, this is a huge shift to a whole different philosophy, and I join you in looking forward to sweeping changes.

It was funny on election night-- I too was expecting an all nighter, so I was stunned when they called it so early. Wow!!!!!

E4E, you have been a tireless inspiration and have invested many long hours working to defeat the PNAC/NeoCon regime. As well, I've been railing about this stuff since 1998.

I fear, however, that so much damage has been done that it will be many years before this mess is fixed. Unfortunately, we cannot clone Waxman, Kucinich, et al. so that something in the genuine public interest would be done post haste. I fear that many of the other 535 idiots in Congress may prove a stumbling block to any real reform, however. These people are all complicit and pretty much cover each others asses - so it's gonna be a hard row to hoe. The infighting, obstructionism, pointless distractions, lousy media, ill-informed public, etc. have all contributed to this current state of affairs. And when you factor in the invisible hands behind the curtain... well, you get the idea. And don't be too upset when it hits hard that Obama has feet of clay.

Nevertheless, breathe a sigh of relief and have a great 2009.

Thanks for running that video! It was a very sweet night! 2008 was such a year of change for me personally that I think that might eclipse even the election in my memories....

I had 2 big events in 2008, first was my dad, he passed in March. Then the election. So this will be a year I will never forget.

I know PEBO is human and not perfect, but I still have HOPE that things will be better.

I came late to the blogging world but feel it is important. I enjoy yours almost daily. I too cry everytime I see the vids and hear his speeches. thanks for sharing these moments.

I also think, we can't let Bush & Co just ride off in the sunset.. we have to hold them accountable.

Annette:::
first off...I am so sorry about your dad....blogging is a way to keep us all connected...so it is never to late to come along...it has been quite a ride all these years...I read my first blog in 2003...and have been Enigma4ever since then....most people started blogging or reading blogs for a reason...something or someone inspired them...( hmm, I guess that means I should thank Bush for all of the wonderful bloggers that entered the fray because of him ???)

But yes, for sure Buscho ALL of them must be held accountable....there must be justice and we must get OUR Constitution back....

Blueberry:::
ahhh, yes Change is on the way...and we do get to be a part of it...honestly Obama and his team will need all of us in some way...thank you for being here and your wonderful blog...

Bluegal:::
It was an amazing night...and yes, I know you have had alot of Changes already .....but thank you for plugging away at your blog and C&L....

DrKnow:::
I know there is much still to come...About Obama , and his team I will wait and see what happens...but already the team he has picked to work on problems has made a difference....I don't know about feet of clay- I worry more about Broken Wheels on the Big Old DC bus causing Change to mired in the Process...and there are still too many bitter angry Repugs there to muck things up as well....but time will tell....to be honest I am just glad that we all survived the 8 years of Hellish Bush Regime......Thank you for being here and being wise and funny at all hours....

Fran:::
if 6-6 and I get there yes, we will be there with backs turn Warren speaks....( 6-6 thought that En Masse Vomiting would be a statement....but realized that would be messy)....anyways....I don't know what to think or say or do about Warren, mostly because I am so stymied by it....and yes, sad....I think on some levels that I am too stunned to be angry...too confused....if that makes any sense....Warren is not just scary on the Gay side of things, it is also about Women and AIDS....he is a warped soul....dangerous in his pious pompous way, and WHY he would be chosen.....I have no idea....

thank you for being here for and through thick and thin...and for all of your blogging...

DCUP::
thank you for all of your blogging and perceptions and wisdom and humor....it has been wonderful to meet you this year....may the new year be good to you and your family.....

Thanks for all your great live blogging and posting all year, Enigma.

Definitely the high point this year was Election Night when they called it for Obama. I too was amazed it happened so early. I think we were all afraid that "They" would try to do something to prevent it from happening and there would be some state that was hanging in the balance until 4 a.m. What a relief when it turned out the polls actually were right for a change!

Happy 2009 to you and yours!

Some of my favorite moments have been your debate blogs. Even if I couldn't participate live, it was great to re-live them afterwards.

About the election: I have many moments where I can't believe it happened & many nightmares where the outcome was different. I guess itt won't seem totally real to me until Obama is sworn in. The sound you'll hear in DC at the moment he puts his hand on that bible will be a collective sigh of relief from around the country!
