So it is still Hotter than Hades by the Great Lakes , the Land of Perpetual Summer. There is nowhere to drive and cool off. I wish there were. I don't drive much these days, due to the recovering eyeball and due to the gas prices. I try to walk most places anyways, my son and I have a thing about it. So all weekend on the news they kept saying that the Price of Fuel had "dropped" . Now I am no fool, but it has not dropped here, so I am so curious.....

WHAT are you paying where you are ? spill the beans below.

( And if you like this poll , I am posting another Burning Poll Question tomorrow...)

2:30Pm Monday Update:
Okay...I am back from my walk....Little Yellow Dog kept trying to lie down...it is too damn hot....91 friggin' degrees ( according to neighbor's thermometer, and 89 per the weather channel)..and the humdity is ??? 50%??? really...it feels like Saran Wrap when you try to walk in it...and they say the air quality is Moderate ? Moderate WHAT ? It is really strange- I don't remember the air quality and the Heat even effecting people like this in the Summer, I mean people were dropping like flies in Chicago...and 2 died from the Marathon...what the??? Something strange..

Okay enough griping..
GAS Prices ( in a middleclass working somewhat urban neighborhood, Sunoco)
2.94 Regular
3.04 Super
3.14 Super Duper

Okay so It seems they have shifted the Costs to the Upper End Fancy Fuels....

Okay next ???

$2.96 for mid-grade as of yesterday in utah. we MAY hit 80 today. strange, we froze for our marathon over the weekend. birds are migrating, but I don't miss the cockroaches (or waterbugs as they are euphemistically called here). sorry about your humidity; that's really bad.

88 here and well, with the hummidity +. Supposed to drop tomorrow and the next few days though. Means head-aches as the atmosphere changes. Ugh.....never had those problems in SF! ; )

2.74, although last week it was 2.56.

While near Detroit, it hovered around 3.04.

Weird ass price gouging, eh? Sure makes it easier not to drive.

I remember when it was .25 a gallon, I made $100.00 week and always had money in my pocket. Since '98, no more! ; (

Cheers to ya!

You are too funny! I feel guity saying it is 62 in western Ma right now. Gas at last check was $2.79. Tomorrow it will be in the mid 50s. Fall is finally here. I saw that 35 year old Chicago cop died during the marathon but they found out he had a heart condition.
That does not take away from the excessive heat. I did a story on it about a month ago on kos particularly and had a great response from around the world because the entire world is either burning, drowning, or blowing away.

Here is the link to the story on the marathon. I am just starting to get to the news. 300 suffer at Marathon

Patriot:Yeah...I watch Chicago news here ...and they had foortage of people dropping to the ground...piles of them off on the side and the Red Cross tent full and people getting IV's...very strange...( used to run half marathons- long time ago...never seen anything like it...)

CM: ahhh those were the days...so long ago..sigh...thanks for the update.....

DK: sooo you are cheaper....hmmm...and your marathon was colder too...strange..

Hi, E4E,
Gas yesterday in Atlanta was $2.69/G for reg. Didn't bother looking at the prices on other grades because I refuse to run them - nor do I buy the garbage additives they try to sell you with the talking pumps that accost you with annoying ads.

It's also 86 degrees, 57% humidity here. Hot as heck when you're trying to replace a roof 50 feet in the air. Hopefully it will drop into the 70's by next week and not rain till I'm done.

The politicians, judges, and lawyers are still fat f#%$ing crooks, and the population OTP is as dumb and gullible as ever.

Ciao!

hey, even cheaper gas ... I just drove by Costco today & their mid-grade is down to 2.82! And yes, very strange weather. I saw the CNN weather idiot call it a "horse trough" with the low trough-part over the western US (bringing cold temps down from alaska), and the high trough-lip(?) of warmer air over the mid-west & east. I guess that means we have horse slobber on us out here. Horse Trough! Is that a meteorological term?

$2.76 low/ $3.14 high

Saw an article that biodiesel is equal or better, cost wise.

But you & your son have got it right---- walking or biking- burning NO fossil fuel is even better still.

His college buddies have heavy discussions about *car cultures*- and I will admit, I am a part of it.
I'd switch to a highest fuel efficiency vehicle in a heartbeat if I had the $$. Personal transportation devices of some sort or another, are here to stay, the frustrating thing is better technology & mileage capability already exists in the here & now. Even the guy at the Toyota dealership said they have no inspiration to make a vehicle that runs better than 60 mpg, because no one else is & they can barely keep the Prius & Hybrid vehicles in stock. How about the planet we live on as inspiration to do better?

But they look beyond to vehicles that are either people powered, or that do not use fossil fuels.
they are the next generation dealing with this peak oil mess- they are also the ones asked to go fight this oil war, and that little nagging global warming problem we keep hearing about. How about Solar powered vehicles w battery electric back up?

I'm really proud that these kids, young adults are not kicking back on their laurels and saying yea, well, deal with all that later. There is hope that at least some of them are awake and aware and standing up saying the status quo ain't good enough. Thinking about the planet & state of affairs will very soon be theirs to manage, under their watch.

We are long overdue for a swing of the pendulum into making things better.

Geez, I haven't bought gas in so long I don't even know what the cost is anymore. I think its still upwards of $3.00 per gallon, although I think the low end gas is down between $2.50 and $2.90 something. Depends on where you go. I'll double check tomorrow when I go out. I try to walk or make concentrated trips as much as possible. I gas up maybe once a month now - even less if the weather is favorable.

Thankfully its beginning to cool down here - at night. I hate hot nights. And I have to say that this weather is royally messing me up. In the summer I know the heat will be there for so long and I can still get things done, but in the fall my body prepares for invigorating temps...and with the summer like heat I have been inexplicably fatigued.

Yuck!

DR. Know has the price around here. I saw it for 2.67 at QT but most other stations are 2.69 or a little more.
Too hot for the middle of October for sure and you guys in the Mid west are suffering even more.

enigma4ever said...

Hey All...I got here late..Baseball game is on...the Indians are winning.

Monk: Hmm , you and DrKnow have some of the lower prices. It is too hot for everyone.

Anok: good for you for hoofing and biking...and I agree this heat is messing us all up...yikes..

Fran: Hey there, welcome back..hope you are resting and being nursed back to health...thanks for your input...so I wonder do I count as the fossil fuel....and thanks for sharing about the good news about the Next Generation..thank heavens they are on the right path...

DK: okay I am lol...what the hell is a horse trough ??? I am not sure I want ANY of that...full of hay and spittle and drool and god knows what...I loved listening to all the weather people tonight attempting to give logical explanantions for this rotten nuke-lar-burnt-potato- heat....I am sitting here on the sofa like a baked couch potato....melted right here in front of the TV...dog and cats and I are fighting over the fan....

enigma4ever said...

DrKnow..so sorry I missed you..there..you still have better prices down there...but at this rate I think no one has a good deal..have to hear what the Westies say at this rate...you be careful on that roof...(and yes, the same asses are still asses.... sorry...I wish I could do something about that..)

Dr. Know said...

Enigma,
Well, some are getting a good deal. And I believe it is BP, Exxon, Standard Oil, etc.

As for the asses, they're all over. That is what lack of judicial accountability facilitates. It's rampant nationally. We are merely two drops in a very full bucket.

Chill out, dear one.

enigma4ever said...

Hey there DrKnow...so there is some justice out there dripping rather slow into that bucket ce non?

and rampant?hmm, is that the same as pervasive...I think it is ...sadly...

Hang in there friend...we will get this country back..somehow..some way....some day...
