BHUTTO MURDERED ...12.27.07

(Originally posted at 12 noon 12.27.07,moved to top of page Thursday eve,as a tribute Click Title Lennon's Imagine)
******************
Bhutto was killed after giving a speech at a rally ( elections were scheduled for January). She was shot in head, neck and chest. The act was susposedly carried out by a suicide attacker, standing close to her.( This of course raises questions about her Security and was it an inside job). I waited most of the morning to see what Bush would say, but after surfing the stations, all I saw was a piece of a pissed off little speech from Bush about "muslim extremists",( that was on FOX news, yet the one on MSNBC said murderous, I wonder if there were 2 different scripts- really odd, on neither station did they show the entire three paragraph statement). I found that very odd as NO ONE has claimed responsibility. I also found it odd the whole speech was not aired, atleast on MSNBC. It is 12:44pm and now some unknown suited man is speaking in front of the Western White House Banner ( which I don't acknowledge this banner as MY White House.) I also found it odd that there has been no Public Statement from Mushareff, not that I have seen or been able to find on the internet.

Yet we are told that Bush Spoke to Musharref for TEN whole minutes. Her Death has been poorly reported, she was shot with a some sort of gun, by a man on a scooter as she stood in her SUV, leaving and she waved goodbye after her rally. She was shot in the neck, head and chest. And then the Scooter Murderer suposedly detonated himself. I do encourage you to watch the film footage on CNN 's website, it clearly shows how pisspoor her security was. More will be posted and updated during the day, and I will add details in Comments.

There also was suposedly an attack on the other Election Candidate this am as well( see Crooks& Liars).

This situation is very serious, and needs to watched and carefully monitored. Mr.Bush should be very careful of touting his "support" for Musharref, as his role or grief has yet to be determined.Little has been said by him since the Emergency Rules were lifted in recent weeks, and since he lifted her House Arrest. What this will do to the Elections in 8 days is also questionable.

As much negative press as this woman has received, this can be said, she did return to her Country to fight for Democracy, and she died attempting to bring democracy back to her country. For the millions of Pakistanis she represented Change and Hope, especially for the Impoverished, Women and Students. And once again this country is in a precarious situation with it's fragile "democracy" very much in danger.

Crooks& Liars and FDL have updates....And there are two wonderful HuffPost tributes you must read, Ariana Huffington's and also Harry Shearer, they both wrote of her as the Woman. Anderson Cooper and Keith Olbermann did amazing shows on her murder and her life tonight. Even Wolf Blitzer did a story on the Email about her death, that is on the CNN site, and he did the email about her being worried about the email to Seigal about the Problems with Musharref.Anoher Source that should be viewed is Booman Tribune by Larry Johnson, he really does an amazing job bringing up some Critical Issues about Musharref's Leadership in relation to this Murder.

As of today December28th,( go to Huff Post) there are Xrays of her susposed Skull fracture, and van photos, they are not in line with the New Fracture Story,There are TWO huge fractures, very high up on the skull, and also do look at the amount of blood in the Van photos.I know it is morbid to look at XRAYS and bloody photos, but it is no worse than a CSI show, we all need to know the truth. And to be honest , this part is now more concerning than the actual killing, for if Mushareff would order such deception over his competitors Death, then it has entered a new Criminal realm.

It is also to be noted that she has three Books that you can read ( I have only read two), but there are all good. And she had signed a Book Deal in September to write another autobiographical one ( that is interesting - we never knew that).
Her books are "Daughter of the East", "Pakistan the Gathering Storm" (1983), and also in 1978 she wrote "Foriegn Policy in Perspective". ( and as a footnote Mushareff has written a book, called "In the Line of Fire", which has gotten scathing reviews).
I encourage everyone to read her words and watch her videos on Youtube, it is important that we remember she was striving to bring Democracy back to her Country, for her Children and all the Children and Women there. For a Muslim Woman she was remarkable in all that she accomplished and all that she endured so much Peril and Pain in her life, and so much Promise she brought to Everyday People of Pakistan.May her Spirit Prevail.

**Photo above was taken before a rally earlier in the Fall upon her return **

1:29 PM Susposedly riots have started throughout the country....also it came out on MSNBC that Arlen Spector was supposed to meet with her this afternoon.

Don't Worry, Giuliani is out in front and in charge calling for more troops to Afghanistan.

Funny thing is, while everyone is quick to blame 'teh terrorists' for Bhutto's death (aka Bin Laden and Al Qaeda) it likely came from Musharaff himself who is not particularly fond of stepping down from power.

If he didn't kill her by direct order then it was by lax security. Where was the CIA in all of this?

I get this sinking feeling that our operatives on the ground are playing some high stakes poker.

Bhutto's death is being played to Giuliani's advantage with more calls for more military and a re-committment to the 'global war on terror'. Now who does that benefit?

It's a tragic situation. Chris Mathews initially praised Bhutto for her democratic leadership. But shortly after, MSNBC had on General McCaffery who quicky condemned Bhutto for her 'corruption'.

So which is it? And does corruption preclude someone from being a democratic leader? If so, we have some big trouble in our own country.

Be interesting to see if Giuliani actually gets a Bhutto Bump or if people igonore him. One thing is clear with Rudy, once a Ghoul always a Ghoul.

I have noticed that the Media has been quick to interview by phone Repukes Candidates....I think that it is a time that Pakistani Scholars should be intereviewed.....I also find it very interesting that none of the Dem Candidates have been interviewed that I have heard.....I know Bush and Guilani will try to spin this as an Al Queda attack...I am not convinced that it was a "terrorist" attack, more than it was yet another attempt by Musharreff to hold his death grip on his military regime....and is any America Intel there? I would say there had to be as Arlen Spector was to meet with her this afternoon....

we will have to see what happens next...

Bush is an asshole! He keeps saying her killers will pay. to me they will just like Bin laden. I wrote about this too and what this will lead to because I made a prediction 6 months ago that will be true and this too will not be quelled.

jmsjoin said...

Sorry enigma, old brain injury I guess Ha!

enigma4ever said...

It's okay Patriot...I know I am not betmo;-)

I think she even in her heart knew what was to come, and she came back knowing that she might die for Democracy....and after her house arrest her relations with Musharref have been rather chilly....but it is very sad...and what it will do to stability in the region and Musharref's Military rule could easily slip into Marshall Law again....

D.K. Raed said...

Bush made his 1-minute stmnt today from a fortified airplane hangar at the ranch. I think he's scared. You've noticed Cheney is missing?

Patrick Kennedy is in Pakistan & was on his way to dinner with Bhutto when he got the news. In a phone interview with AP, he said, "the people are now setting fire to their own country".

Is it just me or does it seem odd that a suicide bomber would first shoot to kill his target & then blow himself (and others) up? Not their usual M.O. & pretty darn convenient.

And we are pushing the Jan 8 election go fwd without the opposition leader? what kind of an election will that be? in a few days, the violence may be so awful, guess who looks good in his uniform again?

Enigma, I don't mind admitting I've been more than little unraveled by this. I keep hearing those Beatles' words, "I heard the news today, oh boy".

enigma4ever said...

I too woke up to this and was very raveled about it too....and sad...and I guess one one level I knew that it would happen....but I hate that it will be portrayed as an "terra" thing...when we all know damn well that it was Mushi....who wants nothing to do with Democracy in that region.....he wants his military regime....

Keith is on- thank heavens....I will post more later...

enigma4ever said...

ooops DK...I meant to say I like you was UNraveled...this is not good news, no matter how you ponder it, it will be mis-used and spun like bad cotton candy by the Repug Candidates....and Bush too will USE it to bolster his "war on terra"....and no one discusses how much money has been wasted fluffing up Mushi's "military regime" ( which is what it is - NOT a REAL democracy....) and no one is actually discussing WHO or WHAT she was , and what she represented to the REAL people there....

Bush barely mentioned HER...or WHO she was ....

and did she really die because Bush has been busy befriending Mushi......

She came home KNOWING that she was going to die.....in her interview with Ann Curry it was clear that she knew.....but could any of the shows air that today ? no...only pieces of it....and Bush is a failure for not reaching out and trying to help her....he was too busy warmongering and fearmongering to do the RIGHT thing.....and his owardly arrogance has caused yet another person of courage to be killed....shame on him....

To me it seemed like it was an Inside job-close enough to shoot her....at close range...and then he detonated himself...not normal "terra" M.O.

and Bush addressed ( aka washed his hands of it) in all of 1:42 minutes.....I guess he had brush to clear....

It is a damned crying shame, the assination of Bhutto. This photo you posted shows this light she had in her spirit. My son asked me this afternoon- what great peace/justice leader has not sacrificed their life for the cause? I mentally searched for an answer, and came up with Nelson Mandela.
Keeping sane for 20 years in dank, dark south african prisons during apartheid, when it was more common to die as a prisoner, was no small task.
I was just happy to have come up with a name.

It is a great tragedy, the killing of Bhutto (I am not buying the random suicide bomber story for one minute... this was planned), but already she has not died in vein. Pakistan is in an uproar, and the world is watching.

Benazir Bhutto is free, and her work for peace & justice will live on. Rest in peace, dear Sister.

Gryphen said...

I hate to be all "conspiracy theorist" here but I have little doubt that Bush knew it would happen and may even have had some hand in its execution.

Let's face it, Bush has who he wants running Pakistan right now. Democracy is only embraced when it delivers the results that he wants delivered.

enigma4ever said...

Gryphen: I too do not at all buy the Terra crap ....this woman , this brave courageous woman, a Mother died trying to desperately to bring Democracy back to her her Country....so sad...and yes, Bush dispayed NO compassion or remorse.....toad exploder that he is, he mostly was disturbed by having his time at the ranch interrupted....and it was obvious that he was miffed.

Fran: I am proud that you too were discussing this with your son...what bothered me more than anything when I too talked with 6-6 about this " oh, yeah, I guess I expected it- kind of was waiting for her to be killed..." this broke my heart....I am glad that you atleast remembered Mandela...we all need to remember him and Aparthied was ended by him and all that died in those prisons (Stephen Biko too)....so heartbreaking....

namaste friends....

The Whole World is Watching....

enigma4ever said...

MN ....ABC and CNN are really humping the Terra= Al Quada crap...I am so mad ,....I mean the CNN footage Clearly shows that there was practically NO Protection or Security to her entourage...are they that stupid that they can not see that? and Musharref should have supplied security to his Election Rallies- and the other people running...how Convenient that he "failed" , so much did he fail ( kind of another Brownie situation)....that NO MEDIA even mention it or question it...only Keith and the Blogs are covering the Security question, and the foriegn Middle East and Aisa papers...

Keep Watching and Blogging Friends....

Yeah, I caught that Bush had to "interrupt his vacation", his "downtime" today. Couldn't believe the callousness of the spokesperson who gave THAT particular info to the press.

And notice, in the MSM angle of covering the impact here in the US, it's mostly : "the stock market dropped sharply on news of Bhutto's death today" and "oil prices rose in reaction to Bhutto's assassination". WTH? THAT's the all-important fallout of her life, her death, the all-important meaning we dumbass americans need to understand? Sorry, I'm just so damn peeved tonight.

Keith did a good job tonight & also Anderson Cooper. Otherwise, I might've had to Elvis the TV.

enigma4ever said...

DK:

I actually so share your anger over this...me too....I am so tired of the media not being respectful - this amazing woman was so many things....and she needs to be remembered better than this....honored better than this...Greta on Fox did try to do a good job on this....I was so shocked- and stumbled over it by accident....and yes Anderson and Keith ( thank heavens...)

Also Go to Huff Post- and read Ariana's post and Harry Shearer- both wrote about her as a Woman...that really helped...

Michael Bains said...

... very odd as NO ONE has claimed responsibility.

Which kind of makes me think it may have actually been one of the jihadist groups, hoping to engender yet more political chaos whilst getting Bhutto out of the way.

Still, Musharraf's gang seem quite likely culpable. At least for "letting" it happen.

{sigh}

Happy New Year, eh...

Enigma, you are an amazing spirit. Thank you for your insightful coverage of Butto's murder. You're right, we need to remember her as a woman, a human being and someone who fought for democracy. I am so sick of our media gossip machine reporting hallf-truths and rumors, but I will read Harry Shearer and Arianna on this. And thank God for Keith Olbermann.

Thank you for your contributions to my blog and your wonderfully kind words.

I believe we will turn things around, and that goodness will prevail. 2008 is going to be a great year. Change is ahead and we must keep our spirits up. The law of attraction really works.

Happy New Year, God Bless you.... Namaste

Enigma, there is an old Mafia saying, "The fish stinks from the head". Everyone knows who is responsible for this. And no one will ever be brought to justice.

I did a post about this too. What a tragedy!

Mary Ellen said...

There are all kinds of speculation flying around today. Now they are saying that it wasn't the bullets that killed her but her fall backwards and hitting the sun roof or something blunt that hit her head with such force. However, they also said there was no autopsy.

I also heard that the police that were surrounding her suddenly disappeared right before the shooting.

I have no doubt it was an inside job. al Qaeda may have done the shooting, but I'll lay odds Musharraf knew it was coming and "helped" them by making sure they had a clean shot.

This is so dirty....very Bushlike.

enigma4ever said...

ME: the spin has been on overdrive this am.....first they said it was the Bullets, then schrapnel, then now they are saying that she fell through the roof...People saw her get kiled, people saw the gunmen, and there are photos in Indian and Asian papers that show people shot in the streets,by where the van was...and also there is footage that you can clearly hear the shots....and she had a gaping wound in the back of her head....well, she may indeed have fell AFTER she was shot, and that would explain some of this, BUT...the gaping wound would not be caused by the hatch on the sunroof- ONLY close range Shooting could cause such a wound....also the doctors at the hospital said that the wounds in her neck caused signifigant blood loss...Will we ever know the truth..???? I doubt it...

Josie: I have always believed that this whole thing stinks...neither Bush nor Musharref showed ANY remorse or sadness about this tragedy....Bush mostly looked miffed, and inconvenienced...thank you for blogging on this too...she was a woman that needs to be remembered....and yes, honored.

Lydia: thanks for your kind words, we do need to focus on Change and moving ahead, but first we need to face some of this ugliness...that is piling up....but if we are brave and face it together and talk about the Reality of the Stink that Josie mentioned...I think we can Overcome this hellish mess....but it will take Courage from all of us....Thank you for blogging with courage.

Mary: ahhh, good wishes to you and yours too...so sad...so sad....

1pm Another update:
the Pakistani Minister said that she"ducked and hit her head"....yeah, that would explain WHY the Back of her head was gushing blood as she fell into the van?????

okay let's keep our Best CSI eyes on this....and listen with our heads and hearts.....WHAT sounds false , well, it probally is....

enigma4ever said...

3pm
Do look at the video they are showing, and in the lower right hand corner you can clearly see a GUN....
and also if you can listen to the tape- you can clearly hear shots....
Also I am stunned the way the Media is covering this event- just towing whatever they are told to say...WHY haven't they had any Forensic Experts on ( geez they brought them out for Anna Nicole.....but not for a such a political figure???)

okay that is my CSI thought for this hour...

Hmmm, if you can't get any real reporting on the bush administration after 7yrs, it may take awhile to figure this out.

Of course, it was obvious something was going to happen after her 1st house arrest.

With the meddling gwb administration, it all figures. Of course, it never should have happened! ; (

enigma4ever said...

Okay...so here is another point, can't they look at the crime scene and find the Killer's body and ID him and HIS gun? ....I know..I think too much..

enigma
I am sick of hearing Al Qaeda invoked everytime they are needed so this mis-agenda can move forward. They say they have proof.
How do we know it wasn't one of them that called in. I keep thinking a Bushco interest is the voice of Al Qaeda. It benefits them and their interests.
I still think it was Musharraf or his interests that killed her. There was no security and their should have been. Knowing Bush is the one that pressed for her to be allowed back I have to wonder about a lot.he could have demanded secuirty is Democracy was the real goal.
It blows me away that we saw the video of the guy with the gun climbing on her vehicle and shooting her from a couple of feet away.
One bullet entered her neck and out her head another in her back and out the front and the doctors were massaging her heart trying to keep her alive, and them foolish idiots have the B's to say xrays showed nothing in her body so we came to the conclusion that she hit her head on the vehicle and it killed her.
That just blows me away! Plus that explosion. plus the guy they say did it worked for them in their own words but of course it drew a blank just like the truth does here.
Her last word was Allah, this will blow totally regardless of what anyone says or does then Bush will have another War to fight and this is all still just beginning. I won't get to deep. I did write about it though but I will only say 2008 Bush has yet to do his greatest damage!

enigma4ever said...

I think the point is that Mushi and Bush are both such weak cowardly figures , and so hated by their own people that they are constantly looking for a Scape Goat....I find it very very interesting that NO one has claimed responsibility....Al Queda always take pride in their "work"...also because they are practiced terrorists, they know that their work is their advertisement of their skills.....in many ways this was not their M.O.......I also find it odd that the other 22 dead at the scene have not been named- were any Body guards ? no...were any other High Ups in the PPP- yes.....and their names should be made public....

Bottem line there is FILM of a GUN at the scene and the footage does also have the Actual gunshots on it....so it is is indeed a Crime Scene. And the photos in the Asian Newspapers clearly show bodies, and body parts, and carnage of others that were also killed with her.

Tonight CNN is sending people there- Anderson Cooper for one ( I don't know if he is working with Nic Robertson) but Somebody needs to ask REAL questions...

And I mean Leadership , not just Media.....A REAL president would ask For a THOROUGH Investigation by International Forensic Experts.....

I also think that Mushi's ability to deal with this situation and HOW he is handling it needs Scrutiny....Immediate.

I also think that all Military aid must be put on hold while this matter is investigated- otherwise suppose that our aid is being sent to a Murderer...

We need People to ask Calm Rational Thoughtful Critical Questions, we should also be offering support for an Investigation- NOT military aid....
( the UN does have Forensic Teams, as does Human Rights Watch)....

This is definently a time when Diplomacy is critical....Do read Frans post over at Ramblings about Edwards- and how he called Musharreff....and also presented some True Leadership....

Christopher said...

Tonight CNN is sending people there- Anderson Cooper for one...

ROFLMAO!

Anderson Cooper? Will he be wearing his $250 John Varvatos shirts?

CNN is so awful now. It's virtually unwatchable.

For me, only Keith Olbermann offers intelligent insight and perspective. Plus, he's pretty damned easy on the eyes! ;-)

enigma4ever said...

Christopher: I know CNN has been awful in recent monthes....but I also watched Anderson last night- and have read his book, and there are some things about him that I do respect ( even when I don't respect CNN)...and that is that he does try to get to the Truth...and ask Hard Questions...Like at Katrina- he was dogged and he did indeed work that story and show journalistic integrity...( Wolf is worthless as a journalist)....Today Nic Robertson asked some really good questions and gave Wolf Fits because he would not jump on the "al Queda " train....

( Now to be honest the person I really really miss at CNN is Arron Brown- but that is a story for another day- but he did know how to ask WHAT and HOW and WHY like a Real Reporter)

Now about Keith...He is the Real Deal...I Know somewhere Edward Murrow toasts him nightly...

But I have to be honest we need more than Keith asking REAL questions on this, because it is going to get bloodier and nastier before it gets any better....and Dan Abrams and David Shuster are also trying to Ask harder questions....
Today David Shuster is on for Tucker ( thank god) and I am hoping that Keith, Dan and David become a very powerful triumverate.....and bring Real Investigative Skills and Journalistic Integrity back to the Media.....

( BTW Ketih is not just nice to look at ....he made Smart Sexy again.....)

thanks.....

It is pointless looking for who pulled the trigger when the US has a history of loading the gun.
I am not saying it is intentional loading but a blindness to polict realities. Time after time US admins support individuals rather than movements or institutions.
The evidence here is that Benazir's PPP (party) is left headless because most of her immediate subordinates are still under house arrest.
If the Bush Admin had been serious they would have demanded the party and other democratic parties in Pakistan had full freedom to perform, not just one individual.
For all that Benazir knew the risk she faced and she faced it bravely, unlike some western leaders.

enigma4ever said...

I think I need to say that NOT all the US pulled the trigger, there are many of us here fighting tooth and nail to save our shredded democracy and trying to bring peace to the world too....now do I think Bush is in any way culpable ? yes. He has been helping prop up a weak cowardly sham of a military dictatorship calling it a "democracy" ( truly an illusion)....and do I think it is wrong for Bush to keep sending Mushi money for his military- yes...and do I think that Bush and Mushi will pull the Al Queda cards at all costs...yes. Not all of PPP were under arrest- some were at the rally- and some were trying to protect the van, the same ones that had been trying to protect her on the stage...

I sadly think that she should not have gone to the Rally this close to the Elections....she did not need to ....But life and death can be made of Should Haves and Would haves....so sad....

Cartledge said...

sorry enigma, I'm normally very careful to discriminate between the government and the people. Of course I don't think the US people are implicated in this.
As to the other issues you raise, well there are some solid debating points in there. I won't go too far though, apart to say: I did distinguish the top echelon of PPP are under house arrest.

Sorry that this is off topic.

My sister passed away this morning in the hospital from her cancer. It was faster than I thought it would be as I just found out Christmas Eve that she was in the hospital.

We were told Wednesday she had about a week to live and they were going to send her home and had already contacted Hospice.

She took a turn for the worse last night and she died this morning.

I may not be around much and wanted to let you know why.

Thank you for being a good friend from the day I first met you. May your new year be the best New Year you have ever had.

and there is much video of the actual scene and the Gunman and Gunshots are on film....( btw in one shot I counted atleast 8 cellphones..so there is indeed footage...)

Her son and her husband were named in her will for her work...

Son's quote
"Democracy is the Best Revenge"...they were very calm in their press conference....
