I went back & reread that post. You have amazing recall of the event! I don't remember HOW I heard the news, just that it knocked me over. I couldn't believe it. TV news showed all the people in Central Park singing & lighting candles & I played every Beatles album I had. Did the same thing today, all day. Gosh, 27-yrs ago ...

that was one of the saddest moments of my lives. i was working my way through grad school, and as word came through, we closed down, found an old poster, put it in the window, lit a candle and sang "give peace a chance". i've never quite 'heard' lennon since, only tinges with sadness.

I had just purchased the Double Fantasy album (yes, album dates me, huh?), and I listened to it over and over...along with all of the old Beatles albums I had...I made a vigil to him on my parent's dining room table..

i remember the day , just like i do Kennedy's day, where i was, who i was with all of it. It was different for kennedy i was 5 and all the grown ups were crying. etc. My heart broke when as a young adult some nutjob took out John Lennon of all people. I have many of John's CDs love his philosophies - no wonder the powers that be were afraid of him. "working class hero, I found out, so many great songs..john sinclare. the list goes on and on ..thanks for the tribute E ! And yes we can all IMAGINE - we must imagine. and as larry says - how could one not like to.

OH, what a beautiful post. I had forgotten!

I have been so busy lately, I haven't had time to visit my favorite bloggers. I am popping in to say hello, and stay warm! I would imagine you are cooking some delectable thing today. Soup perhaps? Save me some. I have go to outdoors in the snow, shopping.

Cheers, my friend!

That's a gorgeous photo, as is the one below it. On Saturdays I listen to our local college station. They have a lineup that is so loved here, but yesterday they had a bit of a tribute to John Lennon, starting it off with 'Imagine.' No better start.

Hi Enigma ...

Thank you for this post about Lennon on the anniversary of his tragic demise.

Like most artists, the man was a true visionary who was able to convey his observations about the human condition through keen lyrical expressions which captured the imaginations of all whom he encountered.

Unlike our current Double Fantasy Billary, the duo of Yoko & John will endure forever in people's thoughts.

Peace,
Cosmic

Has it been 27 years ago already?

I hope we can do John proud by speaking out against the policies of this corrupt administration at every opportunity.

I cried. I had been staying with my mother for a few days, and she knew how I was going to take it. She got me out of bed about a half hour before I'd have gotten up, and told me she had something to tell me. I didn't go to school that day, and was in a horrible funk for about a month.

1980 was bad for me. First Bon, and then John.
