These were the Crowd Estimates given by German TV and officials,200,000 to 500,000. The speech was warmly recieved and cheered, especially when he spoke about ending the War in Iraq. I am still looking for photos and Video, for some reason the Media here has been sparse in posting or sharing.It was a speech about improving World Relations and Unity and Peace.

this is whole speech - 29 minutes.
I have to ask, given McCain complaints about BO reporting, is this getting good coverage in the US?
Aussie media is going hard with it, and I will monitor major foreign TV news tomorrow - we get the packages the day after, but at least we get them.
I should get German DWTV later today, it will be interesting.
Ahhhh Funny you should ask that...here where I swear we have a media Blackout...we barely saw the whole speech- we were shown NO aerials of the crowds and no before and after footage, and no interviews with people there....
And the coverage before and after was limited to Alot of Coverage of McCain's critcism...NONE of the shear damn history of the moment was embraced by coverage here- it was and is so frustating- this is a very big deal....
Obama is trying to salvage and repair OUR world image....that is HUGE..and he speaks of Unity and coming together - after years of Other countries HATING us and Bush- and portesting when Bush would come- that THIS man could be accepted, HEARD and embraced is Beautiful....and he barely has gotten front page coverage all week.....
I ended up today watching the PRE-speech coverage livestreamed on a German TV- the Europeans were covering ALL DAY....there was footage and interviews and it was very inspiring....
American MSM has been dummmed down and propagandized beyond recognitiion...
I thought that might be the case - sadly. Some of the media, like NYT has simply been intimidated by McCain's whining.
The rest of us looking in are trying to figure why the US can't see what we are all seeing. Even the anti BO people here are bemused.
Cart:::
Thank you for letting us know what you are seeing....outside this Media Hellhole...this is pathetic...and it is getting harder and harder to google foreign press...I WANT to KNOW what other peoples and countries are thinking - it is very important- it is critical after WHAT Bush has done....
the way things are filtered and censored we do indeed KNOW about Freedom ...or loss of Freedom of the Press....
McC says he'd like to make a Berlin speech too -- AFTER he's prez. Pathetic! Guess it'd be pretty hard to jam 100's of 1000's into the dairy section of the grocery store! Now McC's saying something about France being on board with the US since Sarkozy. WTH is he implying? That we were right to dis France until Sarkozy cozied up to Bush?
And Cart should know, what we see on MSM news is bits & pieces, here & there. Everytime they show Obama doing/saying anything, they rush out some footage of McC. Today, almost a miracle, they showed the whole Berlin speech ONCE. After that, it is back to bits & pieces. Shheeesh! I remember some of the repub debates that were shown in an almost endless loop, complete & mind-numbingly whole.
So German TV shows support for BO by showing Angela Merkel extending the photo op, showing they are really friends.
The Arab TV supported BO by showing Merkel lecturing him rather stridently.
I would run regular offshore media links if there was any value in it, but I guess democracy by crooked media rules. It is certainly perplexing from the outside looking in.
Cart:::
"perplexing from the outside looking in", guess what....it is REALLY perplexing from the inside trying to see the inside or THE OUTSIDE....
The Media is scared shitless that Obama is really going to win...they were planning for TWO years that this Election Cycle would be Hillary and Rudy...and voila- it did NOT happen..so they are scrambling...
and the Whitehouse does not want DEMS coming in...Bush is soooo scared he won't even say Obama's name or mention him or talk about him....
McCain is not very well liked in Germany. since he's been going to that security conference, they've been exposed to his explosive temper and rudeness.
Now Enigma, you might think Bush does not mention Obama, but..he's been basically, in effect backing him by changing gears on Iran and Iraq leaving McCain to look stupid..
for some interesting commentary on Obama's speech, receptive ones and critical ones, also coming from someone in the crowd listening to obama..go to Booman Tribune..
how's your ehm..sushi?? [winkwink]
