Alki Beach , Seattle
****************************************
For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea.”
e. e. cummings
Okay so this Photo is part of my "Great Beaches I have loved and want to share with you" Series.....This is Alki Beach in West Seattle Washington, it is beautiful.( The city in the background is Downtown Seattle, and that is indeed how it looks in Summer). I spent many many days there with my son as he was growing up, it was the perfect place for sandcastles and digging for treasure. In the summer, we used to go there early morn after the Lowest Tides and look for Treasure. At the turn of the Century there was an Amusement Park there, Luna Park, and at the end of the Pier where the Roller Coaster was, there is supposedly much treasure ( or things that Fell of while Coasting). So out we would go with buckets and shovels and High Hopes. One year we went and we found all kinds of goodies, marbles, womens Victorian Combs, even a pipe and some broken dishes. But the Biggest Treasure was found by my son and he held IT in his arms with great pride.....The Rim of an Ancient Victorian Shiney Porcelain Toilet ....( for years it was part of every garden that we ever had).

Speaking of Treasures....
I have new posts up below- mostly Video Treasures.....There is Obama about Phil Gramm's Idiot Out of Touch Statements on the Economy, there is Al Franken speaking about Fixing DC....I have to say maybe the Comics always have the most Wisdom....Real Wisdom, maybe that is why we miss George Carlin ( so there is a little bit of him below too)......There is also a video about the CBS News video about the HUSH Money being paid to the FDA......if you scroll down further there is some Great Cooking and some Other Goodies....
This weekend I will be blogging about FISA, and the Fannie Mae Mess.....but for now it is Friday.....
So the Music is "Hootie and the Blowfish" ( watch this clip- it has a very very young Keith Olbermann in the Intro....it will make you laugh...)
And your Dose of George Carlin Wisdom for the weekend :::
"I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death. "
"I'm not concerned about all hell breaking loose, but that a PART of hell will break loose... it'll be much harder to detect. "
"If God had intended us not to masturbate he would've made our arms shorter. "
"If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little."

Love the beach wonders!! My personal favorites are Cape Cod at the end of P-Town and the 'glass' beach below Fort Brag in Mendocino. We send you two fireflies from here....peace
oh thanks for the Flies...lovely....oh Cape Cod..lovely....I was going to add Cape May at some point..( I am a Beach Fiend...)
I love Cape Cod....ahhhh glass beaches I know I few too....I don't know the one you reference though....
hugs friend....
I would have piped up here as well, but it's depressing -- trapped here 300 miles from any beach.
Cape May, Cape Cod, Sanibel Island, Seal Beach/Long Beach, Big Sur, Key West, BigPine Key. Any beach is good, unless it's covered in Condos or Republicans.
Those in the Caribbean are best for diving and weird underwater life, those in NE for history and scenery, those out west for bikinis. ;-)
DrKnow....
first off ALL beaches are for bikini's .....or surf shorts and bikini tops....or flipflops...see I miss ALL beaches right now...but if I see them and post about them.,..wow , they feel close again....sigh..and yes I LOVE any and ALL beaches.....( so yeah this project is just me being gluttonous....totally ;-)
Of course they are, I'm just stating my observed preferences - I did say best...
Now I'm counting change in the jar in a futile attempt to afford a trip to... any freaking beach.
You devil you...
Love your beach series...thanks for posting the pictures!
I have the video of the librarian being ejected from the venue outside the McCain "town hall" meeting. Her sign simply said, "McCain = Bush."

Sub teacher::
hey there friend..I have it too..it is down further- I think last week- but thanks-I will come visit anyways ;-)
Maui::
I have been doing this Beach Series...I think it is breaking hearts and mending souls ( atleast mine :-)
ahhhh so selfish of me....BUT I think the Cape will be next....
DrKnow:::
I am putting you in Charge of Bikini Specifications -LOL.....I will have two Jars- one for Beach...and one for Bikini's....( since I am on a Whining Diet - should be no problem ;-) hmmm , I wonder how long it would take me to Bike to a beach.....( ekkkkgads that would be quite a site...)
That is a cool picture. I'm hoping I can get some of my local beaches this weekend if the weather cooperates.
Don't forget about IndyMac's implosion, E. There's a lot of Indy customers who have every reason to whine this weekend.
testing..
RJ:::
I am very worried about the Indy Mac situation , as well as the Freddie situation- this is serious times- screw Gramm and McSame for not realizing how bad things are....Whining my ass...idiots...see post below about them...we all need to pay attention and look out for each other- Gramm is out of touch....ignorant or arrogant- either way- dangerous to not recognize what trouble we are in.....
Any beach photos or stories - share away...
We will have to see what happens....take care out there....
I still like the surfing beaches best. Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Moonlight Beach (all near San Diego). For a good hiking around beach, Torry Pines in La Jolla. Oh I've been to higher class beaches (The Hotel Del in Coronado -- it's haunted w/ghosts of King Edward & Wallis Simpson), but I miss the kitch of Dirty Dan's Surf Shack. Even though I don't surf (aaacckkk no, I won't go in any water where I can't see the bottom), I like to watch 'em. Thanks for the beach memories!
Love the ocean and low tide discoveries living and inanimate, sunrises, sunsets, it is hard to say which is more beautiful and tranquil that the mountains woods it is all invigorating. I was going to talk about indy mac and the rest then Iran but it is all part of the whole manufactured perfect storm. Relax and take care!
Patriot and DK:::
thanks...beaches and things that heal....sometimes they are more needed than a political post that causes just more heartburn....sigh....have a good night...
Okay:::MN news....
So Where is the Great Turd??? who did not show up to his Congressional Invite? ( yeah- he sent a note....) He was in Crimea and before that he was in Sweden...so my question is WHO does he work for - and who is paying for him to be this great world traveler?? jus ' sayin'
Meanwhile cspan aired twice the Jesse Helms Funeral....cough...choke....sputter...
take care ...have a good rest of the night...
My favorite beaches are mostly on the western Houghton Peninsula of Michigan. The place is so underpopulated that the beaches (usually at the bottom of sharp drops) are pristine, lonely, and spectacular.
(1) I've been catching up on my Watergate Summer reading. Most concerned about the librarian being threatened by arrest for bringing in a sign reading "McCain=Bush" and nothing else. I don't know how widespread this video is, but I hope it gets big hit numbers--perhaps incorporated into an ad someday.
(2) One can never quote too much of George Carlin. Of course, he's one who is often misquoted. (I know yours are genuine, though.)
(3) The Gramm statement was a lob just waiting to get spiked.
Formatted these timely songs in HTML, so I thought I'd throw 'em your way:
Tonio K. - The Funky Western Civilization
Elvis Costello - Chelsea
The Boomtown Rats - Someone's Looking at You
Joe Jackson - Real Men
Peter Gabriel - Biko
DR.KNOW:
ahhhh I bet you were at Crooks and Liars- there was a BEST Five thing there tonight- of the Eighties...I LOVE all those songs....thank you....( I have not heard the Boomtown rats in a LONG time...)and I love BIKO...hope all is well down your way....take care..
XDELL::::
ahhh the Librarian , I read at Huffpost they are going to start marketing the "McCain=Bush", putting it on Tshirts and coffee mugs...) she blogged it over at Huffpost, and I will check and see how many hits it gets...
Jolly:::
I don't know the beaches of Michigan, but I would love to ....they sound amazing...and I love the sound of how quiet and desolate they are...
I think that should have been shill, not shull -- canadin pharmacy, indeed...
Yes, E4E, you are right about C&L LNMC, but it's been pretty dead around there the last couple of times I've looked. Here is another appropriate for our times entry:
Joe Jackson - Right and Wrong
G'Nite!
Tonio K. - We Walk On
DrKnow::::
Thanks for the Joe tune....yeah, C&L is dead..so I have not been hanging there much either...( I eradicated Mr Canadian Drug Man....I don't need spam on my blog....yuck..)
Have a good day..get some sleep....
Having lived in Seattle for a while myself, I can appreciate the beauty of this photo very deeply. It is a beautiful place, interesting and vibrant.
