The Loss of a Beautiful Lady: Deborah Kerr 1921-2007

************************
*{Click the title: Frank Sinatra singing "MoonRiver"]*
She was beauty, brains and grace set in such a sultry package. My grandmother Flo introduced me to her films and she was so impressive even to a child and an awkward teen. I loved that she embraced her beauty and her intelligence, there are no bimbo roles in her career, not one. I loved her in so many films, The Innocents,The Black Narcissus,Seperate Tables, From Here to Eternity,An Affair to Remember, and The King and I, and the list goes on. ( That beach kiss was melted in my brain for years.) For me I felt like she was family as she looked so much like my grandmother. ( as my grandfather joked as he would take her to see a movie again and again).
*************************

A little about her.She was indeed born in Scotland in 1921 and was originally a dancer. Her acting career took off in her 30's.She was accomplished and beautiful, She was married and had children. In her later years she worked on Clean Air Issues. She died from complications of Parkinsons at 86.

i also really admired her. she was underappreciated, if you ask me.

Is this where the redhead admiration league is meeting?

If I had to choose I would have to say "The King and I" was my favorite. But it was really the actor with no hair that blew me away.

I also very much felt like she was part of my family. There was really no one else like her. My mom had a poster of her in our bathroom for years, "for inspiration", she said.

She was beautiful, smart and an amazing humanitarian!

An affair to remember was not only a wonderful movie but a great "gramma and me" memory. Her and Cary Grant sparked the screen.

She will be missed. Class and beauty in Hollywood today don't even compare.

Dizzy: you are so Right ;-) I got to watch An Affair to remember last night at 3am ( it was on cable-what a gift- it is never on)....WOW did they have Chemistry...

Blue: It was in the wallet...that is so cool...hehe and you could have said that she was a relative ( isn't that why they put photos in the sleeves to give people fictional family members).

Ziem: what you said is true....it is sad that there are not more women like her...she was all class...( I am sitting here racking my brains, I don't know if we even have an actress like that today)

DK: I know she was looked up to by so many...
and I think for many she represented something to look up to...

Gryphen: yup this is where we meet ;-) Hmmmm The King &I...okay I stand corrected.....she did have amazing chemistry with Yul...both can dance together in heaven again...BTW Yul was a great photograher, he used to take photos on the sets during filmings, and there are 2 great books with his photos, and one does have photos of Deborah .....he took amazing candids...

Weezie: I guess she was not considered one of the True Glam Queens of that era...at the time...but she was also making moveies during the Mansfield /Monroe era...that had to hard...and she also was very set on Being the Smart Tough Beauty in films...( I am sure directors) were not always keen on that ?....sigh..we as women do need more like her on the screen as an example for young girls...

Robert: thank you...she was wonderful....

My favorite actress. What a lovely tribute, from one redhead to another :-)

Definitely From Here to Eternity is my favorite. It was so shocking when it first came out. And we all loved The King and I.

I haven't had the news on today or been on the computer much so hadn't heard.
