FIRED UP FOR OBAMA......THE MOVEMENT IS SWEEPING THE COUNTRY EVEN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AND NEBRASKA,

*************************************
TONIGHT OBAMA WON....Washington, Nebraska, Louisiana, and Virgin Islands,he won by good percentages 60-67% to her 30's, and he won 90% of the Vote in the Virgin Islands. That is important as many Foreigners are watching in these Island Countries......and he gave an Amazing Incredible Speech in Richmond Virginia....People cheering and chanting and yelling.( I did not expect this from a Black tie Dinner Event in Virginia).
We still have the Maine Caucuses tomorrow....And the Cheasepeake Primaries in 2 days.

Two things to Consider:
(1) Obama has been Winning in Many Red States that McCain has won and Lost in...He can beat McCain...
(2) Someone needs to Assess HIS Support amoung VETS and Retired Military .....That might Explain some Huge Numbers he has had in Some Key Red States....It is a Demographic that No One has ever mentioned...

As long as he keeps focusing on bringing the Troops Home..Ending the War..and Universal Care For ALL- EVEN the VETS....and that he can Beat McCain. To All of those that are working the Obama Trail, thank you for all of your hard work and all of your phone calls and Blogging.....and Keep Giving, Every Little BIT helps.....A Huge Thank You to Everyone that Voted.

I don't know which is more interesting: Mike Huckabee still managing to give McCain a bloody nose, or the prospect of Obama actually winning the Democratic nomination. Not that the latter bothers me -- I've endorsed Obama. But this race just keeps getting stranger and stranger...

Jim...
it was a really interesting night...and watching McCain get "Hucked" was so surreal...And watching the Media trip all over the Shock and Awe of it was even better....and for some reason they have not embraced Obama totally ( my son jokes that now Obama is getting the Edwards treatment...and it is true).....

It definently is the most interesting of times...

I watched the whole Richmond speech last night. Once again, I am blown away by his passion & committment. A natural leader!

Washington State was most interesting to me. He even prevailed in eastern washington, a very conservative & let's face it, racist part of the state. Amazing that the cable news blatherers don't even bother to analyze that. Nor have they done a more in-depth analysis of New Mexico. No, they just keep saying Clinton wins Latinos. And here's something those cable news statistical whizzes could easily analyze: how many people were registered repubs for 2004, but re-registered as democrats (or independents which frees them to vote democratic in primaries) since then? Because as much as the dems are turning out in great numbers for this primary, that would be a VERY interesting statistic to know!

And also folks- it is like been blizzarding on the Eastern side of the State for over a week now...BUT yup he scored in the RED Eastern part of the state- that would be like winning Utah again.....wow....

Obama can beat McCain. What is important is that the SuperDelegates realize that as the Delegate count is very close and the SD's may be the ones picking the nominee!
I am afraid many in the military back Republicans as they believe the lies that they support them and we are the enemy as at least one of my lifer sons believes and you saw what the Retired Colonel is passing around about Obama.

Trouble in Paradise: ) -- Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton has replaced her campaign manager with a longtime adviser, Maggie Williams, the campaign announced Sunday.

Williams served as Clinton's chief of staff when the New York senator was first lady.

Ex-campaign chief Patti Solis Doyle has been reassigned to a senior adviser's job, the Clinton's campaign announced in a memo to its staff.

Sorry Hill, no matter who you fire, YOU are still there. The dirty tricks and nastiness have come back at cha.

You can find the link to my post here: http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/2008/01/every-single-soldier-i-talked-to-would.html#links

So though you are right that it is not getting much coverage, I think we DO know how they will vote.

Fran: thanks for the update...very interesting...is it to save money or ??? Something Happened ? either way...yes, I would say things are bumpy there..I am still worried about Texas and Ohio...

Patriot: Obama would be great against McCain- and he has done well in states that McCain has won and lost...The thing is have you watched the Numbers- the Repug Numbers are WAY down- ie. Kansas- there USED to BE 750,000 Registered Repugs, and How many are there now ? ( they would not say ) but less than 60,000 Voted this time...and Obama won higher than perdictions- that means he had to have gotten Independents and Moderates....people that should have voted for McCain....and probably even some Repugs....The times are a changing...

Sorry enigma, but I thought you would want to know that East Timor President Jose Ramos-Horta was shot early today. Not fatally but deals are still sketchy.
Rebel leader Alfredo Reinado was reportedly killed in return fire.
I put a breaking news on my blog and have been surprised by the number of hits from military servers around the world. I would have thought their sources were better than mine.

jmsjoin said...

I have been watching the numbers and as such I checked out the number of register Democrats, Republicans, and independents to see if it would be doable checking them in case the election was challenged And I don't think so!
This was done in 2000!
47 million Republicans
32 million independents
63 million Democrats
62 million unregistered
I don't know what the changes have been since but I expect a hullabaloo caused by whoever loses!

Obama was on 60 Minutes tonight sounding good.

enigma4ever said...

He was excellent...sounded very presidential...

He also won a Grammy for his Audio Book..the "Audacity of Hope" ( he already won one for the "Dreams Of My Father")

Michelle Obama is on Larry King tomorrow night....

( BTW It was odd that McCain made NO public appearences all weekend and that he could not fit it in his schedule to be interviewed by 60 minutes this weekend.)

Other News from the AP:
Apparently Hill went and had a Secret Meeting with Edwards this weekend, yesterday - the day of more tears.....Obama already had a meeting scheduled with Edwards tomorrow.....as far as I could find out on the AP article I don't know if he still has a meeting or not...I am sure his BLOG will have Updates....He did very well in the South and in La. and in Heartland States and also is really speaking about VETS and Poverty Issues...I am hoping that Edwards does Endorse him soon....It is needed.. for the good of the party.

Fran said...

Don't know what the specifics re the Hill campaign manager reassignment- but one can only guess it's the numbers-- the ones she is not getting!

Caught the 60 minutes interviews....
Obama said he's not going to stoop to mudslinging innuendo nasty fighting tactics.

Hill got right into the important details... yes America-- she quit drinking diet soda & coffee, drinks tea & eats hot peppers.
Those are the details we NEED to know, when choosing a president at such a critical time.

Wow! So everyone here likes the Irish guy, huh? Brock O'Bama? LOL!

I was an Edwards man and am still undecided. Mags is leaning towards Hill because, well, she thinks Obama should be VP and then run for Pres in '08, when he is "more seasoned".

I am still undecided. I don't see a lot of difference between the two when you really break it down. I don't like many of the sources of funding for either of them. I will, however, vote for who-ever gets the nod. Hell, I'd vote for Goofy before ANY Republi-con.

I am a dyed in the wool Union Activist. As such Domestic issues rank right up there with Iraq for me. The Dept of Labor is just as crucial to me as the Dept. of Defense. There is a war raging here at home, a war against Unionism and the working family in general. It is a war we can't just "get out of". It is a war we must win. John Edwards was the best candidate by far but he was overshadowed by history in the making. I guess I'll vote for whoever offers to put him on the ticket.

d.

D.K. Raed said...

Deud: I'm with you on despair over Edwards; he was my guy. But I don't understand what you said about Obama waiting to run for Pres til '08 (unless you meant 3008) when he is "more seasoned"? He's already plenty seasoned for me! And, while I don't think Edwards is being offered a 3rd party ticket, he IS being heavily courted by both remaining dem candidates. Maybe you're waiting to see which one HE endorses?

jmsjoin said...

enigma
I think the majority of independents will vote Democrat but this is so close in Delegates that I am increasingly oncerned how the super delegates will vote. I want to try something new since Bush and that is having our thoughts and votes count.
I told you Obama was the man and would take care of his end. Peopla are waking up. After hearing the Republicans of late and how we are prosperity and America's enemy they are really concerning me.

Gryphen said...

Is anybody else getting a little tense about this tug of war over the Edwards endorsement?

I understand that Hillary went out to visit him and Obama was scheduled to do so today but has canceled it. That must mean that Edwards has made his decision.

Could it possibly be that Edwards would support Hillary? Is such a thing even possible? They seemed just too far away on the issues in my opinion. As matter of fact I really felt that he disliked her.

You know whenever I talked to anybody who is uncommitted about who to support they almost always say they had originally been an Edwards supporter. Myself included.

But if Edwards does endorse Hillary he will have betrayed everything that I believed about him. He will essentially destroy my trust in him and my faith in this election.

What do you all think?

D.K. Raed said...

Gryphen: until I hear what Edwards has to say, I'm withholding my opinion. It's possible they're not even discussing endorsement. Huffington says the Obama meeting was postponed, not cancelled, and that maybe that was due to too much media attn. An Edwards aide says he has ongoing reservations about Hillary, and that he is much more in line with Obama on issues other than Obama's unmandated health plan.

ps, I think poor Enigma is snowed in. Temps last night MINUS-15F (with the windchill factor)! More snow over the next couple days, too, daytime temps are up to 24F. Leave her warm wishes ...

deuddersun said...

Yeah, you're right DK, I meant to say '16. In any event, Hill is Mags' choice, and like it or not, I respect it. Like I said, I'm still undecided. Well, not actually. I've decided I'll never vote for any Republi-con and at this time, that suits me fine.

d.

D.K. Raed said...

Okay, everyone, I have words from ENIGMA! She has no internet connection & with the bad weather, it could easily be Thursday before she can blog again. She is not jumping ship on you guys! She read the thread here & wanted me to pass along some of her thoughts. Here they are (remember these are ENIGMA's words):

"first, to Deudd: there are differences between Obama and Hillary. Obama is focused on vets & vet care (see pgs 50-51 of his new policy bluebook, online on his website). Also, re: sources of funding, Obama's campaign is built on $10-20 once or twice a month from a lot of small contributors, NOT big money $$$. There's much more, which you will notice if you watch an entire Obama speech."

**********

Now, on to Edwards. ENIGMA had lots to say, so once again, her words:

"Edwards had scheduled a meeting w/Obama today, but it was postponed due to helicopters surveilling the Edwards' home all day & no one knew who they were exactly, if they were media or what. It wouldn't be right to disrupt the Edwards family life like that. It was "southern hospitality" for Edwards to invite these discussions in his home (which is also his office). But, he can always talk to Obama on the phone; in fact, they have said they have had phone conversations.

"Hillary is pumping this because it would look good to working class people to think she was working w/Edwards. But note that she snuck there in supposed secret, then leaked it (looks desperate, just to stay in the news, she drives the news cycle).

"Edwards has always focused on message & issues & how candidates get their money. One of the things that attracted us to him all along was his sense of integrity. We shouldn't be mistrusting our original beliefs now.

"Some Edwards staffers (at least 39) have already transferred to Obama's campaign. Obama has won in every single 'red' state that McCain has won or lost in the primaries. Hillary should stop saying Obama only appeals to black voters. This is rude and wrong, especially when the stats show he has MASS appeal. Remember Hillary met Mark Penn during her Wal-Mart years."

**********

Now you know ENIGMA had things to say about recent Hillary's campaign shake-up, so in her words:

"Read in Huffington about Maggie Williams (one article called 'Who is Maggie Williams' but there are others). She is a longtime Hillary aide, known for dealing with Hillary's messes. She's always there during Hill's bad times. She was Hill's front woman during Whitewater, Travelgate, Vince Foster, Monica, etc. This says something about what is going on.

"And Patty Solis Doyle just cleared out her desk sometime in the night & was gone?!? No public stmnt from her, just a goodbye to her fellow workers on the campaign. Maybe it was an issue of conscience? And she is replaced with a long-trusted insider who has dealt with clinton 'issues' many times before."

**********

In conclusion, ENIGMA said:

"STAY POSITIVE, HAVE HOPE!
Watch the Virginia vote tomorrow!"

**********

She sounded very sorry & frustrated to be having such bad weather that her internet connection is spotty now. Hopefully, we'll see her back in action Thursday! In the meantime, I'm sending her warm wishes that this storm & internet trouble will be over soon.

[note: transcription errors are mine; our phone connection was not great, almost felt like a call from Iceland. I'm sure Enigma won't fail to correct if I've unintentionally misrepresented anything. I really tried my best to be a good secretary!]

Cartledge said...

Great job red - ahhh the other red. I'll stop before I get into trouble here...

Christopher said...

The MSM says Edwards is "torn" between Hillary and Obama.

Really? Torn? Ah, how can Edwards be torn when Hillary is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the military, industrial complex and insurance?

If Edwards comes out and endorses Hillary then as far as I'm concerned, his populist shtick is as fake as Pam Anderson's tits and he's just another crooked politician jockeying for a cabinet job in a Hillary administration.

Just keeping it real.............

X. Dell said...

It's certainly shaping up to be an interesting race. I haven't rally seen this many people so excited about an election of any kind. It will probably go all the way to the Convention.

Gryphen said...

Of course Enigma, and many of you, are right.

I should know better then to rise to the MSM bait. I guess it just speaks to my innate fear that I am going to be disappointed in something, or somebody, that I strongly believe in.

But I do agree with Christoper that IF Edwards did endorse Hillary it would mean we had all been fooled. And I don't think I would get over that very easily.

But for now let's follow Enigma's advice and keep a good thought.

Can we do it?

Why YES WE CAN!

D.K. Raed said...

Thanks, Cart. No trouble on my end.

Christopher: I'm waiting to hear what Edwards himself, not the MSM, has to say. These "meetings" might not be about endorsement at all. And hey, I thought Pammy had all the silicon removed yrs ago?

x.dell: we are an excitable group with much to be excited about!

D.K. Raed said...

Gryph: It would be an empty feeling, for sure, but I would want to know details (mainly for refutation). In the meantime, YES WE CAN stay positive!

John Edwards' campaign website has a blog that is officially shutting down tomorrow 2/12/08. You can still log on & post how you feel about him & hillary vs obama, if you do it quickly.

D.K. Raed said...

BTW, does anyone else think John Edwards' shutting down his campaign blog tomorrow 2/12 means there will be some kind of announcement tomorrow? hmmm ...
