Hopemongering For Change and the Fierce Urgency of Now...2.1.08

"Change is the Law of Life. And those who look only to the Past or the Present are certain to miss the Future." JFK

"Dogmas of the quiet past are in inadequate to the Stormy Present. The Occasion is piled high with difficulty and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so must we think anew." Abraham Lincoln

"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones the most responsive to change." Charles Darwin

Please Click the Title and there is Beautiful Video Linked to the Title called "Passing of the Flame". It is especially poignant for those of us that remember the 1960's and were inspired by great Heros of that era and see that Dream Alive in Barrack Obama.

Here in the Northeast we did indeed have more storms and snow and wind last night. And in the quiet of the night, more people watched the LA debate and learned more about Both of the Candidates. We learned WHAT Kind of Change they both represent , and we got to hear them speak to Issues. Obama really explained carefully HOW he is different than Hillary, and his goals and what he proposes about the Iraq War and Healthcare. CNN and CSPAN both have been reairing the Debates today, this is good because more people can now become educated. This morning MoveOn.org did endorse Obama this am.

Change is on our Horizon for all of us. It is within Reach, it is Real. Hope is being spread from State to State, we can Embrace it and feel it and spread it.

I will be blogging on HealthCare issues this weekend, that post is down below to explain HOW the two plans put forth are so different. Obama's Plan is actually much closer to Edwards Plan ( even though Hillary keeps saying otherwise). But the Differences are important, and can be explained with clarity and simplicity. I will try to have up that post by Saturday Night. In the Meantime 'From the Left" has great updates on the Obama Campaign. And there is more Good News and info over at Lydia Cornells' Blog.

Pass the Flame. Pass the Hope.

Borg Queen's Campaign Took Rezko Cash

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, a national co-chair of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, banked at least $1,500 in political donations from an indicted Chicago businessman whose past connections to Barack Obama have been used by Clinton to criticize her rival’s judgment and ethics.

City records show Antoin Rezko, chairman of Rezmar Corp. of Chicago, contributed $1,000 to Villaraigosa’s mayoral campaign in May 2001. Those records show Rezko also donated $500 to another Villaraigosa political committee in March 2003.

Asked to confirm whether the mayor received donations from Rezko, spokesman Sean Clegg said “the contributions are currently under review.”

SEIU endorsed Obama today ( they had endorsed Edwards previously).

6Pm Saturday on MTV "Closing Arguments" will air a Forum for Candidates- Obama has agreed to participate.

Enigma,

I looked for a link but I can't find one. I have the MoveOn.Org endorsement up though.

Just a side comment, it was an economist who coined the term 'survival of the fittest'. I don't know why everyone blames Darwin, but the quote you have there makes sense.

Christopher:
SEIU was about 45 minutes ago- SF Chronicle, and Mercury News and NYT just now....I don't know which article you want to use....SF Chronicle is pretty good..

I think Darwin would be thrilled to be quoted or remembered by an economist ;-)

( it really is a Darwin Quote above...)

I'm not so sure CD would have been thrilled by the economic meaning. His hypothesis was fairly benign, the economic principle is really quite brutal.
I don't think CD was really of the 'nature red in tooth and claw' group. And I was delighted to see you quote his real message. Thanks

I mostly meant that his Aclnowledgement of the Fittest was /is appreciated.....by anyone..

( oh great this will now lead to people comparing Hill and Obama to different animals..)

So this morning I watched Ted Kennedy speak out West in LA at Monterey Park, and spoke with Other Hispanic and Latino Representitives and he was Fired Up....

The phrase that one of the reps used ( and I am sorry cspan did not give us the Name- )
" Con gran dieso y enthusiaso"

He spoke of how Obama was inspiring, and filling their hearts with Desire and Enthusiasm....of remembering the Excitement of Bobby Kennedy in the 60's....Ted looked visibly moved...It was a very mixed crowd....older folks , students and Old 60's folk all grown up....and yes, a very large hispanic crowd...

Lovely words Enigma.

I look forward to your health care plan explanation, as you know I hurt my brain trying to keep up with that part of the debate.

enigma4ever said...

I hurt my head Listening to it....yup I am trying to have it up tomorrow eve- I worked on it all day....( snow/ice crap weather always helps my writing...)

enigma4ever said...

Christopher,
I moved this post back to the top...I too could not take the WOLF photo...it was worse than the Annie C photo Jolly Roger posted tonight...

Larry said...

Wolf Blitzer and CNN suck nearly as much as Fox.

enigma4ever said...

Larry...
maybe there are having a Competition...at this Point...Wolf, Tweety are definently due for some Special Awards...the Fox Honors...

Larry said...

I wish they would get rid of Scarborough and Tucker "bowtie" Carlson.

They are even more dreadful than Wolfie.

enigma4ever said...

Oh I forgot to mention Tucker...I guess that is because I consider him irrevelant.....

Joe Scarborough...interesting Micha is making him calm downa and Holding him responsible for what falls out of his mouth----that is a first..

( and Billy Geist is actually smart...and Joe "acquired " him from Tucker- and Tucker has been floundering ever since...)

In 2004 Election cycle- we were still coping with Crossfire...and Novacula ( ugh)....Paul Begala and Carville ( Clinton wonder children....) are still off and on interviewed but they were around and more omnipresent voice back in 2004.....

( Pat Buchanon still gets on my nerves...and Bob Bennett also at CNN...and there are NO Intelligent Women on CNN...Donna Brazille is still at CNN- but she is Clinton Camp....)

And Dean is rarely intereviewed....

the whole set up needs to be REDONE....new Voices and Fresh Perspective....
Without Keith we would have Nothing...

I read another blogger who votes on tuesday & said they were undecided. Hills health plan was swaying that voter to her side potentially. I'm gonna send her to your site to read the medical details. One argument I made was that Hill was quick to vote Yes on the Kyle Lieberman bill- re war in Iran. She still does not admit that her Iraq vote to go to war was wrong, but you'd think she would have learned a lesson to not take lightly the concept of going into (yet) another war. We already are engaged in 2 wars- Afghanistan & Iraq.
How is this related to healthcare, you might ask-- if you are spending billions on war, that is money NOT being spent on domestic needs, like healthcare. Plus themental health of our country-- do we really want to be the world's war mongers? Ripping families apart, causing death & destruction, soldiers who suffer the lifelong scars of war? It is all related.
My .02 cents.

enigma4ever said...

Oh Fran- what a great 2 cents...and yes, do indeed send your friend here....the Health Post is up....( I tried to make it uncomplicated...Hill['s Plan treats healthcare like Car Insurance- there is a world of Difference between Hill's plan and His Plan...Obama's plan is closer to Edwards and really embraces Universal Care for ALL- that need it and want it- and those that have Care and Insurance that want to stay with their plan can...."mandatory insurance- where the INSURANCE COMPANIES STILL CONTROL THE RATES IS NOT GOING TO HELP ANYONE..."

If we are Paying Billions , dumping into the sands of Iraq...and then there is NOT money to take care of the VETS and the Health of OUR OWN PEOPLE....there is NO MONEY for education, no Money for Infrastructure, No Money for WE THE PEOPLE....
