holy cow E..I never saw this post..I posted in 2006 (june I think) on a story Jane did for the New Yorker on the torture memo..it had to do with Alberto Mora (if I remember the name right)..I was part of the early formation of bloggers against torture and still have some good blogger 'buds' from it (rj and mash).. it is now defunct as they changed it to NION or something but I have been lax writing on torture these days..it's not as if it stopped!!

I wish I had found you then..I have blogged about torture and other illegal criminal acts as much as I can since I started this....It is one of the things that I feel very strongly about....along with the illegal spying, the lying us into war....and the loss of Justice across so many levels ( ie Patriot Act and FISA issues)....

I need to start watching Letterman more! There was a point in the interview where he started questioning the motives and morals of the people "at the top" (i.e. Bush, Cheney, etc) that made me cheer --- finally, yes, that's it ---- they are "evil" (to use one of their own words against them), and it's about time someone said it.

This book will definitely go on my library list. We all need to be prepared with facts for when those who broke our country's moral compass are some day taken to task. That they were re-elected and never slapped down [for gods-sake, why not CENSURED, as Russ Feingold tried to do, if you don't have the nuts to IMPEACH] is a travesty.

But still, Bush can tell high school kids that "Merica dudn't torchure" and he actually seems to believe it. Now Cheney on the other hand, you never hear him saying that.
