NEW Fuel Effecient WONDER....MUST HAVE...

Okay So I have been looking up Scooters, and I know that many of you have been as well....I am very intrigued with VESPAS...and Piaggio makes them, they are a thing of beauty....and very fuel effecient. They even have 3 wheelers ( for those of those that are balance challenged) and they are coming out with a HYPRID 3 Wheeler...I am saving my pennies.... The Hyprid will get 170MPH....yeah.

So I have a Question ??? WHY Can't and aren't we making THESE here En Masse ? Couldn't they use some of the Defunct Car Plants for this ? Jus ' Thinkin...Maybe I will write TBone Pickens with that idea...

Scooter Lust....Enjoy ...

I have been looking at them as well - the downside is they only hold about two gallons of gas, but the upside is you can get pretty far on those two gallons. Okay, so maybe more than two.

Not cheap, but better than a car.

If we make too many, well, do you really think it's fair for SUV owners to be scraping these things off the bottom of their monster?

Hey there..I confess I have an SUV- it was more related to having 6-6....a teenage son that will not stop growing...it is 2n hand and I drive minimallly...even moved near a store so I would drive less...and it is 8 years old now...BUT I hate having it- and that it is not good enough for the EV....etc etc...so down below I posted about a really wonderful Hybrid - that I think 6-6 will fit it- it is Mitzubishi- it is not here YET.....BUT.....

Anyways I am looking at ALL alternatives.....

So Imagine if we did have the scooters here MORE....they would flood the streets like ANTS at a picnic.....making it hard for the big ol' SUV:s even move.....lol

DIVA::::
170 miles is pretty damn good...yahooo...but yeah...and out there you would have such lovely rides....( well, not the hightway...I actually don't know what that would be like).

Some are rated for highway, but you need a motorcycle license. Some are not, and those are the cute ones like the one you pictured. I want one in turquoise with a matching helmut. Or maybe pink. Divas LIKE pink.

yeah...I want periwinkle blue...or maybe more of an Indigo Blue...and I need an African Violet Colored Helmet....

( I could never pick Pink- those colors are reserved for our one and only Diva :-)

One thing I would recommend for *anybody* who is thinking of riding a two-wheeler, whether it's one big enough to require a motorcycle license or not, is to take a MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) safety course. These are available in most places, and are very valuable at keeping your hide on you rather than on the front grill of that Ford Valdez SUV :-).

BTW, you do not need balance to ride a two-wheeler. The wheels act as gyroscopes and keep you upright as long as you are moving. In fact, you have to push on the handlebars to make it do anything *but* stay upright. The only time I've ever fallen over on one of my motorcycles is when at a stop, when the wheels are not moving so are not serving as gyroscopes. As long as you remember to twist the throttle open more if you feel yourself falling over at slow speeds (doesn't seem to make sense, "go faster if I'm falling over?", but you gotta get those gyroscopes moving!), it's really, really, *really* hard to fall on a bike or scooter.

Hey Badtux,
thanks for all the good info and advice....It's really hard to fall- well that is good to know....

I think I am just a little balance challenged ( ask my scratched up Knees and Bike- as old retro fat tired bike....) I have never had a scooter...but I am curious-and then I saw their 3 wheeler clips and was mezmerized....

BUT I would definently take any kind of safety class....yup....

My bet, Enigma, is that your problems with "balance" on a bicycle are exactly the same as the one I mention for the scooter. When you feel like you're starting to fall over you try to slow down -- which is the wrong thing to do. If you feel like you're trying to fall over, either stop -- immediately -- or SPEED UP.

I describe how that works for riding a motorcycle in sand somewhere on my blog. Sand wants to throw a motorcycle down. The only way -- the *ONLY* way -- to make it through the sand when you feel the sand grabbing hold of the bike is to open the throttle even further (i.e. go faster) and yell *BANZAI!*. If you slow down because you *think* you're going to fall, you *will* fall.

In other words, that's the whole secret of "balance" on *any* two-wheeled vehicle -- when it feels wobbly like you're about to fall down, *SPEED UP*. It'll straighten out, I -- and the laws of physics -- guarantee you this.
