CAPITAL HILL SWITCHBOARD CALL AND DEMAND THAT OUR GOVT TAKE A STAND IN SUPPORT OF NON MILITARY GOVT& that $$$$ Billions be withdrawn Immediately.202-224-3121 OR 800-839-5276 Thank you
*****************************
We as a Broken Democracy Need to Pay Close Attention to Pakistan and ask some hard questions about Mr.Bush's ongoing alliance with Mr Musharref, that is suposedly based on the Battle against Terrorists, and yet thousands of Lawyers and Human Right Workers are now Jailed there as "Terrorists", they are being "Charged" as "Terrorists" with "Treason", and face the Death Penalty. Mr.Bush's Cowboy Complacency about this situation is concerning and dangerous, as he continues to support Musharref's Dictatorship under false pretenses.

*****************************
*{This unrest was by her home on early Friday Morning, it will be hard to ascertain What is the Truth of her situation, and WHO is Who...but her followers had perdicted House Arrest or Worse, and they have proved to be right. What will the Other "Democracies' of the World do Next with this Military Dictator at the Helm imprisoning thousands.}*

11:11PM Thursday Night 11.08.07 EST

MSM has not posted or confirmed anything yet ( I guess they are still working on the Breaking OJ news), it was reported Only on BBC News on PBS moments ago, and is not even on their website yet, or any other news sites, so please know that this is News that needs verfication. No American Media has covered yet.India Times ( or the Times of India just updated their website, and she has been placed under House Arrest). I will scurry about and try to learn more. I posted earlier in the week that this is what Many Legal Scholars from the Region were worried about, especially since her house was Overly Guarded. The Strikes and Marches were planned for Noon Friday- and it is already Noon right now- so she would have been arrested before the Strikes were at full strength.I will try to find more, and update in the Comments.

****IMPORTANT UPDATE AT 2AM 11.09.07 Bloggers Please Read****
It has still been difficult to get updates as to the situation in Pakistan, and since it is now afternoon there, it should be time to start getting updates. Although NYT has been asking for Citizen reports and photos, and this is concerning, as there should be ways for them to get information, so this does raise the question as to whether Any Foriegn Journalists have been detained, jailed or dissappeared. ( if this is the case maybe the International Community may take more of an interest). Another aspect of this Situation that has gone under reported on all fronts is that the Students and Universities are indeed very involved with the Demonstrations and Protests, so the Bloggers are indeed very involved with this Battle, and also they are blogging it, and doing a better job than most media. So I am encouraging people to please go and support these Brave Bloggers, and also do got to Google Blogger and look for blogs reporting the Crisis. ALSO very Important, please do go and Download Musharreff's Emergency Proclamation, and READ it, he has definently entered a paranoid Dangerous Arena that allows him to declare ANYONE a Terrorist and an Extremist, neither Bush or the Media has Mentioned or acknowlwedged this Proclamation, and if you work or have connections to MSM please get them to air and read this Proclamation ,it is Hitlerish in it's language. Please do send to Keith O or other Trustworthy Journalists. Please do read the Blogs below, and support the Brave Students and Bloggers and spread their fine reporting.

I will add more blogs as I find them to this list, and please email me with other resources and blogs at enigma4ever@earthlink.net.

Yahoo news has a breaking news item about it from 11-minutes ago. Not much real news though. Buried in a story titled "Pakistan sets Election under US Pressure". House arrest, but she says the protests will go on. In Rawalpindi. Suicide bombers have threatened (or military dressed as suicide bombers, who can say). After the sometimes violent arrests all week, there will probably be more of that. 5K of Bhutto's party have been arrested so far.

Oh no, she was supposed to lead large protests in the very near future, wasn't she? It was going to be her political rally, but in light of everything she decided to protest instead.

Damn. I hate martial law. Please post updates!

The Musharaaf government's attempt to kill her when she first arrived didn't work. So now they've arrested Bhutto.

Ya know, what's really interesting and disgusting about the whole Pakistan situation is the fact that we, US taxpayers are supporting this authoritarian regime.

Newsguy...so sadly true...urgh..She told her followers that no matter what to carry on with the protests today...

Anok: don' worry I will post updates- kind of tricky when there is a Media Blackout here...and there IS NO Media there /outlawed ( hmmm which situation is worse...)

Dk: I have not found any news on the Protests today- but I am sure there will be arrests...many.

It is now 2am, I am still trying to find more info, so far India Times has some ongoing news at their website, but hopefully by morning there will be more, NYT is posting that they need information- that is not a good sign. The Protests were to start at noon- and we need to watch and see if anyone can get footage or stories out from these Protests... or info on her status...

English Aljazeera news is reporting it

    http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/B6E9035D-E91F-4F34-8BF7-816B3B0A139F.htm

Pakistani police have surrounded the Islamabad home of Benazir Bhutto ahead of her planned rally in Rawalpindi against emergency rule.

Sherry Rehman, a Bhutto party spokeswoman, said although the former prime minister was not officially under house arrest, police were blocking all movement in and out.

But "we will not allow any leader to carry out any rally. The law is equal for everybody and anyone violating it will be dealt with accordingly", he said.

CNN has posted in their "latest updates on top stories:
Security forces block roads, surround former Pakistani premier's house

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Dozens of security forces surrounded opposition leader and former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's house Friday and cordoned off nearby streets, hours before a massive rally organized by her Pakistan People's Party (PPP) against the state of emergency was due to start, sources close to Bhutto told CNN.

The sources said police have not served Bhutto an official house arrest notice, but according to local media reports her movements have been limited.

What a mess "humanity" has become.

CNN is now reporting this on their main page 1 am PST:

In addition Friday, the government also took CNN and British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) off air for a second time as part of a media blackout, CNN's Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad reported.

The re-imposition of a blackout on CNN and BBC comes just 24 hours after the ban on the two broadcasters was lifted.

There are fears on both sides that the rally could become violent. Watch what's known about the rally to take place

"Maybe because of that, the home department of the Interior Ministry feel that they wish to make sure that such ghastly incidents are never repeated again." (Read: Don't dare disagree)

Meanwhile, Bhutto spokesman Wajid Hasan in London said that water and electricity has been cut off at the location for the rally. He said the doors to the venue have been welded shut to keep supporters out.

In enforcing the emergency order, Pakistani forces have arrested thousands of opposition leaders, lawyers, and human rights activists. Police told CNN they are working around the clock, enforcing the emergency order during the day and rounding up targeted activists at night.

Five opposition politicians -- including the head of the National Party -- were charged with treason Thursday in Karachi, a government official told CNN.

The crackdowns have focused on Bhutto's political party. Officials said that from Wednesday night into Thursday, police detained more than 400 PPP activists, although party officials put that number much higher.

CNN has a reporter there- I cant remember her name- I am too sleepy- but she is wonderful and does a god job- earlier yesterday she had been giving reports with a cellphone- but then she had a meeting with the current pm, and it became very testy....so I was worried about her... I also have been trying to access Anderson Coopers Blog all eve withput luck- usually when a Crisis is going on other producers and writers use it to get news out- and it has covered everything from Katrina to other Situtations.... I will keep checking back...very odd...

I also did notice that the BBC site was not updated tonight- and that is very unusual as they always update on time....

Thanks Fran.... I think we also should start calling the Capital Switchboard JAM it ...I will post number at the top of post...

Dark Times...time to support others suffering loss of democracy- before we are next...
