The Killing Fields Are Here, Over 100 VET Suicides Per Week Here, Go to Crooks and Liars and See the Whole Story

I have wondered for quite a while WHAT the Actual VET Suicide rate is, I read the Obits here in Ohio, and I suspected for over 3 years as I lived all over the Country that Something was Wrong. I have said this before, DEAD PEOPLE DON'T LIE, THE ANSWERS ARE ALWAYS IN THE OBITS. The Other HUGE issue attached to this Story is that we have a PTSD problem here in the US.And the VET Suicide rate for 2005 ALONE was more than 125 A WEEK Across the Country......That is over 6500 for that year alone, MORE died here at Home than In Iraq, in that year alone....CBS did their own Investigation, and went state by state tracking the Stats on their Own, the Federal Level failed miserably when questioned for Data and FOIA'd. Watch this story , learn More, Someone 's Live May Depend on it. And Lets See if CNN has enough Balls to bring it to the Debate tonight.
*[Buscho should not just be Impeached, they should indeed be Tried For Crimes Against Humanity]*

****On November18th, I will have a post up about PTSD....and Suicide Signs******

I actually have been tracking the stats in three states as I moved around these past 5 years- Ca, Wa., and Ohio....and when in Downtown Cleveland I have seen enough PTSD I knew that the rates were worrisome- NOW I know HOW worrisome.....

I think CBS is doing the story all week....

I am doing PTSD here tomorrow....( I have done 2 years of Research on this and was trying to get a job working with it.....that is a story for another day)......

Please please watch this story....

My sweet rose, I'm sorry that I have everyone worried about me. I have been sooooooo speechless after my last post with what has happened that I am unable to put anything in words on paper (blog) at all.

I will try to get something up this weekend and apologize for my absence and the worry I have caused everyone.

Thanks for caring and will catch you soon.

God Bless.

PS: Yes your feline looks quite big and also she didn't look to happy about being put on the scales. Fine looking cat though.

Also I tried to reply to your email, however I was having trouble so my email carrier may be having problems. Or the NSA is interfering.

God Bless you.

PT: just click the title, and the story on CBS has the stats,......all of them....totally horrific....( And welcome here- most of the time, if it is an important story I usually link in the title to it, it I link to Music that is a part of the story- this blog is sometimes political and sometimes soulfood....and sometimes just life)....

All the veterans, OUR warriors, deserve a functioning Veterans Administration It is a crime that we have such a weak and inefective administration, perhaps if these vets were embryos or snowflakes they might get the attention they need
shame SHAME on these republicans
pro military, I think NOT

Wow. I'm stunned.

me too..sickened...

I moved to the top again on Friday- it is too important a story , and needs more time to be spread and shared...esp with many VETS coming home for holidays....and yes, some with PTSD...

proudprogressive said...

I am sickened it should be headlines on all the evening news for a week straight or more

Also disturbing is the ploy to call and misdiagnos PTSD and rather call what the people are suffering from a personality disorder, those in the medical field KNOW how eggregious this - as the treatment protocals are vastly different and that also effects how the pts. are treated or NOT treated..all a ploy not to needed care.

My outrage is beyond belief at all of this. And if you really want your stomuch churned see what lenghts on soldier had to go through to get his 100% disability - one look , and even my cat could determine he is 120 % disabled.

Oh man, this country puts on such a show for the troops, blah blah honor honor honor - then SHAFT SHAFT SHAFT.

excellent post E, as usual.

This story, and part two above, make me weep. As a mental health professional, I simply do not have the words to describe my outrage that this is not on the front page of every single paper in this country, every single day.

We send them away, strip them of their individuality, obligate them to do horrible things while denying them the time and space to emotionally and psychologically process their experiences, bring them home, stigmatize their suffering, refuse to fund the necessary treatment interventions, force them to wait in line for the limited services that are available, and then remain silent when they exercise the only option they believe they have left to manage their symptoms.

To me, this is morally unacceptable.

Thannk you to you for keeping these issues alive. We cannot let this conversation be buried by soundbites.

(Oh, and yes! I would love to reciprocate links!)

thanks Liberty....and everything you said is soooo painfully true,....and it is So Unacceptable....( I already put you on the blogroll ;-)

Thank you for highlighting this, Enigma. As far as suicides, I wonder how many more are considered accidental deaths, but when you look at the events leading up to the death, you see a pattern of destructive behavior that began after military combat service. The problem will not just go away by an official military health ruling of "pre-existing condition" vs PTSD. All of us are or will be dealing with this in one way or another.

Really good point DK, and I know here in Middle America- it is a range of myserious deathes- from car fatalities ( single car with tree ? or alcohol), and bodies found with gunshots wounds in Cleveland ( and not labeled homicide). Here they also are hard to track due to homelessness.....horrific...how could we let this happen to these wonderful souls...

Please do read the Mon 11.18.07 PTSD part....
