It is beautiful, but the whole time I'm watching it, I'm thinking, is it real or computer generated? It looks real, but I've NEVER EVER seen anything like it. Like clouds of birds! How do they keep from flying into each other, who are they following?
BTW, E.K. HATES Starlings. They are the mean ones that used to attack him when he jogged in CA.
They are real...and amazing ....how do they not fly into each other?? I have no idea.....
Sorry about EK hating the Starlings- when they attacked did they take hair off his head ? do you think they were just getting goodies for their nests ? ( I have seen them do that....)
It's funny, EK kept telling me these mean birds were attacking him on his jogs. Then we were out walking (I don't jog) one day & the birds swooped down on us. I recognized them as Starlings. I don't know how they act in Europe, but over here, they have become very agressive & territorial, so we must've been near their nest. I don't think they were trying to get our hair, just scare us off. We were more afraid they'd poop on our heads.
Hah, 6-6 thought of The Birds! While I love Hitchcock, that movie always makes me laugh. Even though it had all his usual suspense, it was just so implausible (to me). Give me Rear Window or Vertigo anytime.
This reminded me of an event that happened about seventeen years ago.
I had taken a group of children to play at a school playground on a beautiful summer day. While the children played on the equipment I laid on the grass and stared up at the sky.
I had not noticed it at first but the trees near the playground were completely full of sparrows.
Suddenly they erupted from their perches and literally filled the sky in front of my eyes, and for the next half hour they played chasing games and performed many acts of aerial acrobatics. I just laid there enjoying the free show and thought what a great day it was to simply be alive.
Gryphen....see that sounds so wonderful....I found these videos about the Starlings....I had never seen them...I would love to see them do this...I think it is Magical...Mystical....wondrous...
Absolute Joy....
( if I ever get rich I am going to Rome or Europe to see these massive performances...there are some places there that the starlings show up every year....on schedule....)

ok...6-6 has pointed out that for some this might remind them of the movie the Birds...

Sometimes the simplest things can bring such joy.
