FRIDAY NIGHT THOUGHTS AND MUSIC.....AND HOMEMADE PIZZA

"Only the Gentle are ever really Strong" James Dean

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
"Dream as if you will live forever,as if you'll die tomorrow." James Dean

I saw James Dean on an old Twilight Zone the other night, I am going to try to rent "East of Eden" this weekend....It is a good movie to watch....A Steinbeck angst filled thought provoking film.....James Dean met Steinbeck....and improvised many of the scenes....he gave the Movie the Reality, and the Humanity that it needed. He is excellent in GIANT and Rebel Without a Cause. Giant came out after he died....He died too young....Greatness Shattered, he died as a legend.

This photo above, it reminds me of my son,my Gentle Giant, I walk into his bedroom and THIS LOOK is what I get...because invariably I am bothering him. I told him that he reminds me of James Dean...He is walking a little taller tonight.....We have been trying to think if we have a "James Dean" actor these days....We have not come up with one, if you have one- let me know. ( We also came up with Audrey Hepburn as another Irreplaceable....). My son did point out that as a Talent, Strong Talent he thinks Heath Ledger might have been close to such a level of talent....but we will never know his level of greatness.

It's hard to think whether we have any actors or actresses of the caliber of the great ones from the old days. In the case of a James Dean (or young Marlon Brando for that matter), the only one that I think might come close is Johnny Depp but in a totally different, more ironic or humorous, way.

I've never watched the whole of East of Eden - I should rent it.

Hey there friend...East of Eden is amazing...it is about a Family , their history and how they effect each other- it is a tear jerker..It is Deep...and Dean brings a depth and pain to it that is amazing...one of his first acting rolls...and he improvised !!...
( and Kazen left the improv parts in it....you can pick them out....)

Johnny Depp is very very talented....and has depth...and range....and maybe even some of the Dean Vulnerability....

good point....

Oh that look -- it is a good teenage man/boy look! Many try, but few can achieve the full depth of rebelliousness, yet a sensitive longing to correct what is wrong with the world.

I was going to say Johnny Depp, but only in certain roles. No telling if James Dean might've branched out the way Depp has. He was one of kind!
