To Kill a Mockingbird
Nineteen Eighty Four
The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Grapes of Wrath
Animal Farm
Dune
Brave New World

Of the list those are the ones I have hit all the way through. Several others I started but didn't finish for some reason.

As for the list what about Twain, Hemingway, Conrad, and F Scott Fitzgerald?

The Da Vinci Code? Might as well throw that Tom Clancy goofball in as well.

You are mind-boggling! I had to look very very hard to find ONE that you haven't (yet) read that I have. Found it! "Cold Comfort Farm" (Stella Gibbons) ... I enjoyed it ... offbeat brit humor ...

My hat is off to you, especially for finishing Les Meserables. I have never been able to get past page 100. It defeats me!

ps, any list that doesn't include some Isaac Asimov or Arthur C Clarke or Kurt Vonnegut or Hunter Thompson is incomplete IMO

but there are sooo many good books that are not on this BBC list..( those brits...) yeah no Arthur C Clarke or Vonnegut or Twain...sheeesh
