i am glad you are covering this. i think more people need to realize that 'homeless people' are whole families now. folks living on the streets or in their cars- or tents. and not to be a negative nelly, but i think it's going to get worse before it gets better. i cannot understand why we can't rent them homes that now sit idle- or better yet- rent them their own homes and not kick them out in the first place- until they can make mortgage payments again. makes sense to me.

you hit the nail on the head....WHY could they not stay and rent their own homes....it is better than hoods full of empty homes....
and the apt I rented for many monthes here- and then the landlord got foreclosed- NOW the building - a big old loft building sits empty with pigeons flying in and out of our old apt- and down below on the street are homeless sleeping out front on the grates and out back BOX folks....it breaks my heart....it really does....
I am encouraging people to take photos and videos of Homeless and Tent and Box Cities where they live - I will post here and on My Depression 2009 Blog....I am serious about documenting the damage....
