Dumbass Of the Week Award goes to Chuck Todd for his "Sacrifice " Question.....

Now just to be fair I should clarify that Chippy Reid and Ed Henry and Jake Tapper also were competing heavily this week....BUT Chuckie really outdid himself with the " Sacrifice" Question.....So in case you missed his Stellar Moment from the President's Press Conference.....( Scroll down to the post on it- I have the Presser posted, and Chuck's "Question" is right in the beginning of the video...)

Chuck"s Question ( and yeah he was serious):::
Chuck Todd : "Why haven't you asked for something specific that the public should be sacrificing to participate in this economic recovery?"

So here's the thing....Atleast in my hood...Everybody has already "sacrificed ", they have "Sacrificed" Jobs, and their Cars and their Homes, and College Kids are putting off College,Christmas Presents, and people have given up Nights Out and Dinners and "Vacations" and NEW Anything.....and gee, it wasn't planned or anything- but I guess they are really "Patriotic"...the Amount of "Sacrificing " is Overwhelming and Heartbreaking...

So Chuckie I know you are wondering WHAT is the prize from the Snippy UnderEmployed Nurse in Cleveland...( I work three part time jobs - only one is nursing...) Well, I was thinking since you are having a hard time Understanding American Sacrifices, I am attending TWO very large Job Fairs in Downtown Cleveland in April and I would love for you to join me...you could meet Some Wonderful Americans and ask Questions.....I think it would really give you a New Perspective...and Hell, if you want, do bring Chip and Ed Henry and Jake Tapper...because all of you are still asking irrelevant senseless questions from the Bush Era....we need you all to be Better Journalists and Stick your heads out of the DC Bubble.....

Here was my First Thought after watching the Press Conference- President Obama should stick with Town Hall Meetings- WE the People ask Much Better Realistic Questions .....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thursday Update::::
Thursday 11:30 AM is the Online Town Hall with President Obama, an opportunity for Real Americans to ask important Questions ( do check the Whitehouse Website for the Questions).
Do read this Update From Daily Kos and the Amazing Deluded Self Rationalization of the Presser by Ed Henry.....
That was a stupid question.... but I have to say I was also disappointed about Obama skirting the edge of the elephant in the room (war spending).... he said they need to reform procurement keeping a better watch on gvmnt spending on military supply things-- but missess the big fat obvious issue... the cost of the wars themselves.
I did like Obamas answer to the other reporter-- why did you wait a few days to comment?
“Well, it took us a couple of days because I like to know what I’m talking about before I speak.”
Hooray!!!!!!
WE can kiss pre recorded talking point reruns good-effing-bye....
Stay the course • 9-11 • It's harrrrd work • He he
BLECH!!!!
While I normally like Chuck Todd, that question revealed he has obviously NOT been out among the people. He should definitely go the Cleveland Job Fair! Or maybe interview those living in Tent Cities. Maybe talk to someone putting off medical care or even much needed dental work for themselves or their children because they simply can't afford it even though they know they will probably get sicker & finally end up in the E.R. Or how about the 1/3 of our pension plans that we've sacrificed which will mean more old age poverty? I was really astounded at Chuck's numbness.
ps to Fran, he's saving all that for Friday!
Agreed. Chuck Todd and Ed Henry both made themselves look like stooges.
I think he asked a really bad question at the last press conference, too. I have to search around a little and see if I can find it. Can't remember it right now. Maybe being in the WH press corps is not his best thing.
Well, I kinda thought this job was a little above his head.. and he is proving it more every day. Even the questions he asks Gibbs aren't exactly what I would call smart...lol And Ed Henry.. I have never liked him.. I think he must be on the Fox News fax list of GOP talking points every morning... But then I think most of them are... sure what it seems any more.
As for Fran and the war spending, he really can only answer what they ask.. There were no questions asked about the wars.. NONE.. I really thought that was striking myself.. the closest was the one from the reporter from Stars and Stripes about veterans and procurement which he answered, so I am not sure why that is his fault.. He wasn't making a speech, he was answering questions... I think they are still working on the budget and when they get to the point of going through it.. Orzag and the OMB you will see it cut... but that is my opinion for what it is worth.
DK---He's calling off the wars on Friday- due to budget constraints?????
Now THAT would be a press conference I would love.
Saving what for friday???
These guys don't seem to be able to ask a question without inserting their personal issues into the question.
For example, Todd doesn't want to be tarred with the liberal media brush since he's on MSNBC, so he goes out of his way to ask a question that shows he thinks that he's no bleeding heart.
fran I heard that he's giving a speech on Friday about his plan/exit plan for Afghanistan. Don't know if that includes questions from the press or what.
right now he's doing a town hall & the questions are definitely MUCH better!
Lisa may be right. Chuck was not this dumb during the primaries. So if he doesn't want to be tarred as a liberal, he plays it dumb? That speaks volumes about the conservative impression.
Okay....
wow...
you are have some great insights...the thing about Chuck is that he used to be...dare I say it...a Blogger...and then Tim Russert found him and brought him to DC and he at first just was a whiz covering the Primaries and the numbers and stats....( atleast that is how he told the story when he was interviewed when Russert died..)
I am just dissappointed in him...someone that seemed to have so much "smarts" a year ago...and he asked a really dumb question ( insulting really) and then there is the daily breifings- someone pointed out that he asked Gibbs dumb questions frequently- that is true- that is why I was hoping that he would bring his Best Game to such a big presser....
Sometimes I wonder is he fed questions from somewhere else ???
the silly thing is that Jake Tapper and Chip Reid have already carved the Conservative path for him.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I watched Lara Logan on CBS last night covering the Mexican Drug Cartels and I thought well...nice to see Some Reporters can still think on their feet and ask Smart Questions.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay DK...you have definently peaked my interest...hmmmm, a Plan...that would be good..an EXIT plan even better...
and yeah, the Military Costs are HUGE...and that includes the wars and also the little secret procurement contracts- I think that the Pentagon Budgets and Deals would blow our mind...and remember Obama has promised to make all of that public now...the other place I think HUGE money is being wasted and is never mentioned...
NSA.....and spying on all of us...and then LOL I saw Mueller on the other day saying they dont have enough agents to investigate 100's of corruption Cases- and that it is up 60% in 3 years....((gee maybe the FBI should hold a job fair))...
Anyways so hopefully Obama will go through ALL of the budgets line by line...no more Bush Balancing the budgets on the people...( ie Like last year Bush cut 30 Billion from Teaching Hospitals....that effects Healthcare..)
I have to admit that Obama has worked every second of these first 65 days....and today he is doing the first Online Town Meeting...( the media is barely covering..of course)
I suspect that Chuck's question was an attempt at a "gotcha" question.
For instance - if President Obama had actually suggested something that "ordinary" people could do to help out - the headline screams "Obama Wants Families to Forgo Starbucks Coffee While AIG Execs Get Bonuses"
If he had suggested that the average family had already made great sacrifices, and it was time for the wealthy to do their share, the Wall Street Journal would scream "Robin Hood Obama Wants To Convert US To Socialist State"
Giving any answer to that kind of question is tantamount to answering "When did you stop beating your wife?" type questions.
GOTCHA questions are yellow journalism, IMNSHO
OH, and about job fairs...
WDRV, the classic rock station I listen to at work (because my radio doesn't pick up any other station) has been having "career opportunity" ads for people to work for the CIA!!!!!!!!
Serve Your Country - BE A SPY!!!
LOL Sewmouse...
maybe the CIA just wants to know who is jobhunting...
Let's see,sacrafice, how about our mental stability?
how about our lost prosperity?
or our 201ks
or our sense of well being at the workplace?
or the taxes the rich are STILL not paying
Let's see some freaking sacrifice from those who can REALLY afford it...
