Improved Mental Health Care for Vets, Legislation Proposed by Baucus....
It should be ordered for ALL -so No One has to ask for it ( just like Physicals and regular Medical Care). And this bill should go one step further, it should allow them to seek Outside Help , as there is a Huge need and Not Enough Practioners. It should also offer care to the Families. It must also treat PTSD as an Anxiety Disorder, NOT a Mood Disorder , and NO More Testing of meds on Our Vets. And it must be given to those with Traumatic Brain Injury as well, and there must be monitoring on a continued basis. But atleast the Legislation and Dialogue has begun...Finally. ( Now we just need to get them home).

Outside care is essential, because there is a heavy stigma within the service to go for help.
I saw a PBS special on PTSD.... the military's idea of dealing with it involved group counseling sessions, with a focus on getting comfortable with death, some deep breathing & relaxation .
One soldier was asked when he last considered suicide- he answered "last week", shortly thereafter, he was redeployed to Iraq.
yeah PTSD care needs to improve...and quickly....they too are literally dying for better care...which is soooo wrong..
That's not true in all VA's.. and if the doctor says that's all you have is group.. get the hell away from him. I take my uncle to the VA and I took my dad, he sees his psych doc every time by himself he has NO group appointments. He has done Telemed appointments by never has he done group. Neither did my dad.
