Saturday Night Music....6.28.08

"Courage is not the towering oak that sees storms come and go; it is the fragile blossom that opens in the snow.”
Alice M. Swaim

I had a bad day...Remember the post I wrote earlier in the week about how BROKEN we are as a Country, especially the Government ? It turns out the IRS is beyond broken...They had the nerve to send me a Bill today for unpaid taxes. ( Yes, earlier this month I blogged how I was going to be getting a rebate in July sometime). Well, another office is very very confused and says I owe them....I don't ...I paid them...But there is nothing worse than getting an IRS envelope, and thinking Yahoooo there will be a check...and instead finding a BILL with Penalties ( yes, FEES...and Thousands of dollars??!?!?!?!, yeah like a single mom makes that kind of money???? I have paid every cent that was owed all these years, I have never ever owed or not paid...so I am beyond furious) I think the fact that my head did not explode is remarkable....And then it stormed all afternoon....I sat and watched crappy movies and drank a liter of Max Diet Pepsi.....and cursed......I have ALL my paperwork...so you KNOW what I will be doing this week, I will be sharing my paperwork AGAIN ( including the cancelled checks)....BIG SIGH.....For tonight...I am going to listen to some music....and try to calm the pulsing sound in my head....Have a good night....

EXTRA EXTRA:::: THE FIRST SNL IS ON TONIGHT, YES THE EPISODE WITH GEORGE CARLIN....

Jody Watley singing "Borderline"....Perfect smokey song for after the storm...

oh nooooo ... well, just keep in mind that a letter notification from the IRS HAS to be answered by the date they've specified (regardless of who is correct about owing what). And (sigh) as you start collecting your records & receipts: do NOT volunteer anything more than what they are specifically asking for. You know you can email me about dealing with them.

It is because I have dealt with FOUR different offices...and they are still having trouble figuring out that I am divorced......idiots...I have given all four offices the correct information......It is that simple....they cashed my checks without ANY problem.....yet they send a bill- unreal....

but to be told I was getting a CHECK and then to open up a HUGE bill....jus about had a heartattack....

beyond Broken..Beyond STUPID....

Yes the Internal Revenue Scam. I got an envelope from the lovely people @ the IRS today. It said "Stimulus Check" in big red letters on the back side of the envelope. Wow! I thought it has arrived just in time for me to turn the whole thing over to--- the mechanic.
Much to my chagrin, it was a letter telling me that I would be getting a stimulus check in the future.

I think it cost them $40 million to send the first letter. I'm sorry but that is so wasteful.
So I don't have a check, just a letter saying there will be a check eventually.

The vehicle repairs will cost the entire check amount & then some.

Did I tell you they had the vehicle for 2 days & when we went to pick it up, they said it is leaking transmission fluid worse then it was when I brought it in?

So they kept it to work on it again on Monday.
I did not want to take it "for a little driving", my luck I'd run it out of transmission fluid & blow uo the engine or fatally toast something.
It was 96 degrees here today.... so I tried to stay out of the scorching heat.

Glad you have all the paperwork to review w the IRS. I wish we could fine THEM for late payment.

Fran::
at this rate ...I don;t know if there will be any payment...but I do KNOW that I owe them NOTHING...and certainly not thousands....I have no faith after all this that there will any effin payment...

they cashed MY check....I owe them nothing...I wish I could fine them for the distress and heart ache they have caused....

wow 96 ....ouch....

Stay cool - if you can....

I did not know your car was acting up...there is nothing worse than a sick car and high heat...ouch....
take care...so sorry I am in such a foul mood....

Wow. I thought I had it bad when I got the notice that my check was going toward my back taxes.

Hang in there. Hopefully they will see the error of their ways after you talk to them.

Oh my lord Enigma! I am so sorry! Once the IRS starts on you right or wrong it is very trying and they are ruthless. I hope everything works out for you and quick!
It took me 11 years to get an issue resolved my ex stuck me with and I had to pay someone to resolve it and it was still major angst! Just relax and best of luck! I am going to listen to that song now so thanks!

I once worked for a professional gambler who's entire "legitimate" business ventures were all fronts for his real business which was illegal high stakes poker games. He was unusual in every way. I might have to write a story about him. We were the same height. I weighed 115 lbs, he weighed 300+ lbs. Carrying all that weight made him hot, all the time. So during our work day (keeping those fronts in good fronty order and shifting large sums of cash from bank to bank), when we were working in his "office"-- the entire downstairs of his house in Denver, he went around in his tidy-whites all the time. And since his belly was so enormous, his muffin-top spilled over enough that only from the back could you tell he was wearing anything. He looked like a Sumo wrestler. Often he would have me serve lunch to him while he soaked in a cool tub--something like an old walrus in a too small tank. That is how he conducted his portion of his IRS audit. Very disconcerting for his auditor. In the end, he owed a couple of hundred bucks. I always thought of him as an oddity, like moving art of a very strange sort. This american jewish sumo gambler, tank on wheels. His nudity never bother me. Never interested me either, except when he was getting audited. Are you ready to try it naked?

enigma4ever said...

Utah:::
Ahh, I think I will skip the naked part- thank you...well, he sounds like a real charmer that your worked for....hmm, mobile art....your descripion is just lovely ;-)

Patriot::
I am sure it will work out, now that they gave me heart failure....idiots...it will just be bureaucratic crapola...summer wasted...and again NO REBATE....

RJ:::
I don't know you, but nice to meet you and thank you for the nice support...I really appreciate it....( ouch sorry about Back taxes....)

Renegade:::
hmm, new music..I am going to look her up on Youtube...lovely...

Hi E~ I was curious about why you did not respond to my imprompteau survery about if I should tyr to resurrect my 14 year old vehicle, or replace it. I bet that e mail must have go ne to the ether in one of thise big storms you have been having.
No big deal!
No one has a crystal ball to determine futures of things mechanical, but the consensus amongst fellow bloggers was try to resurrect it. Maybe get another 25k miles on it & by then more happening mileage vehicles, or even electric will be more available.

The hope is now they can reseat the transmission gasket or something-- they worked on it for 2 days, and made the leak worse. they had pulled the transmission & thought they had it repaired. But no.

Make back up copies of all your IRS ppwk so they don't lose something again. I'm guessing they did not count on ou having all your ppwk together... so good for you.

Find out of you need an appointment so they don't waste much more of your time.

The only thing worse than a government agency with that much authority is a government agency with that much authority that doesn't know what it's doing.

Hang in there. You'll get your refund.

Daniel said...

Governments...spooky aren't they? They can 'do things' if they're so minded, make your life miserable.

The people who work in Gov. Depts. are usually tarred with the one brush. They probably go to Church and vote Republican. And they think only in black and white, no rainbow hues for them.

Power corrupts. Give a person a badge or a gun and you've got trouble on your hands.

Hang in there, Enigma. If George drops some nukes on Iran the IRS will be the last of your worries.

Enigma, so sorry to hear of your IRS letter - SO annoying! And bummer about the storms too. We've been having weird weather too.

Best of luck dealing with the government idiots.

Billie Greenwood said...

And when the f-ers finally catch on that they screwed up, they'll send you a letter saying "Congratulations, your tax return is approved as submitted." Just like nothing happened they were responsible for.

Wishing you strength in the process, enigma.

Sounds like you can't win for losing when the IRS is supposed to send you money but sends you a bill instead.

enigma4ever said...

Larry:::
I would say I am confused- but really it is them...sigh....

Border:::
thank you....I am sure after much patience and hard work and me showing them my papers Over and Over it will somehow be resolved.....and I might still have my head intact....

Maui:::
thanks...the more good energy the better....idiots....ahhhh yes...

torrance:::
They are amazing...and incompetent...I will just have to find some good music to get through this....and keep humming...

Daniel:::
I hope and pray that King George is not going to do Something Stupid....and yes, I know I will get through this....sooner or later....

xdell:::
at this point I will just be glad to get this resolved...and I doubt there will be any refund....because they just can't get it straight...

Fran:::
hmm, about the car- I have one rule- summmer time- and a transmission TRADE...be done with it....I have had terrible luck with cars- so that is my only advice.....about the IRS....as long as my head does not explode...that will be fine....

Thanks one and all for the nice thoughts, support and good energy....

namaste...
