Sunday Thoughts.....

**************************************
"The genius of the United States is not best or most in its executives or legislatures, nor in its ambassadors or authors or colleges, or churches, or parlors, nor even in its newspapers or inventors, but always most in the common people. "
Walt Whitman.....

We have been having Thunderstorms all day...even golfball sized hail...and some intermittent Internet problems...It is cool and green out, feels like the Northwest. I don't have anything to blog tonight...so below I am sharing a beautiful rock photo, my inspiration for my little garden.( I will let you see my rock formations when I have them all done.) So Below there is the Virtual BBQ receipes, and some music. I will be back to political blogging in a couple of days...taking a break from the headache of it. ( that means I am mad at Obama about FISA)....leave me messeges...I will be in and out the next two days....Namaste.

The rock formation is lovely, below. But the above photo is absolutely gorgeous. I haven't seen colors so intense since I quit drugs.

Obama will run you over with a truck to win. The GOP so underestimates him.

Nice photo Enigma and I am not pleased with Obama's stand on Fisa either.

aah..well I am one of the few who is not upset with Obama. Being the pragmatist and seeing the big picture AND being an Independent I see a broken system where, oh dear, candidates need to get votes from beyond the core supporters in order to win. To me, this Fisa issue (which I naturally do not support but hey, there have been so many things going on the last 8yrs I do not support, let me count the ways).. don't pitch hissy fits over this. (speaking in general, not to you E) When in office, Obama can do as he pleases and there will be a LOT to undo for which he needs to have democrats in the house to vote with him. Homeland security..blech! (INS is now part of it, goody for me) Guantanamo (for which the majority of Americans care nothing about OR agree with still after all these years)..torture, extraordinary rendion, and OH YEAH.. an illegal war (for which Obama has taken a stand against and still does)..
well, I'm sure that you can all add a 'few' more. With this ping pong politics of only two parties, you will always have issues like this..so..I've been very unsympathetic to people who've been fuming about in the blogosphere.
I have to tell you E, I know people who are smart (amazingly enough) AND who have a totally different opinion than I do. I'm probably on all accounts MUCH more liberal than a lot of Americans, even those who beat themselves on the chest for being so.. BUT..I'm also a pragmatist and get annoyed about this shitty system all too often. However, like with most things in life that are super annoying, if I can't change it, I'm not going to belabour the issue. It takes masses of people to change this idiotic two party system and that ain't gonna happen.
I'd LOVE for there to be a party for Independents (hmm..the Independent Party, the Party of Independents..hmmm) and it would be (according to stats) pretty well a third division; third dems, third reps, third independents. Two of those could form great alliances/blocs.
Politics (said she who has a poli sci degree, hephem..sorry weird cough that is [g]), is exhilarating, AND frustrating like hell. If it involves more than a 100 people, forget it. And I'm saying that having been on a homeowner's association board for several years. 10% of people do the work, 90% do nothing but only pop up during election year..
if people are that upset over Obama's decision, I feel they've lost sight of the big picture. The big picture also being that he is limited in what he can do or say, esPEcially in an election year. He's taken big risks already, so everyone fell in love. Now, like most lovers, they notice little things they consider flaws and start second guessing; is he really the one I fell in love with?
We all know that that's not the mature kinda 'love'.
So be realistic 'ya'll', chill, and hey, check out your local independents. (in texas, Independent Texas sure would love to hear from ya). But to demand for big changes during election year? In federal/national politics? Sorry, not possible, not practical. Get involved with state politics, AFTER the election. If you stop caring then, then you really cannot complain
alrighty..how's that for writing on an empty stomach? gotta eat and get up kid number 2 to go off to class..
oh and I almost forgot..how lucky you are to have had rain! We wish. We've been having a heat wave since over a month.. phew!

(that explains why I can take the heat, hehe, wink wink nudge nudge SAY NO MORE.. no really, got get your kid ready..)

okay...

Have a good monday....

Ingrid:::
I really appreciate that you took such time and care to express all that ..wow..and so early too...
I understand and I hear you...I too always try to see the larger picture....but I also think I like most Americans, feel on many levels betrayed...and trust is beyond fragile ( of ANY and ALL govt folks and agencies...and if that sounds paranoid or disilluisioned- well that just might be accurate on some levels....) Obama from All that I have read seen and heard- this was a test- and I felt let down....this was his chance to take a REAL stand on our liberties- and since he has taught Constitutional Law for all these years- this is his element...and one of the things when he speaks at rallies has been raised as an issue- actually the illegl spying is what he spoke too...technically...so that is different I guess...anyways....I appreciate your analogy- but the thing is Illegal Spying I take pretty serious...( another story for another day), but since so many of our rights have been so eroded, it makes sense I would be concerned, I mean for 8 years we have watched the DEMS roll over and silently mostly on one Right -Constitutional Right after another....since day 1 of the Patriot Act...I don't view Obama in any way a typical dem...otherwise I would just be waiting for the constant dissappointment...

( about state politics- I have moved so many times under Bush- that I no longer ever get attached to local Politics- read my book and you will understand....BUT National matters to me HUGE....and after working with Obama's Campaign- I was impressed that this is more organized and functional than any operation I have ever seen....so at this point I expect better from him and his people....if that makes any sense).

Larry:::
I know..me too...sigh...

Hope you are sooooo right ;-)

Don't be mad at Obama. Being that the vast majority of his donations are small and from us he has eliminated big money. My concern is what the underhanded Republicans are going to do. The RNC has endles funds, are ruthless, and will not relent their power.
I wrote about it today because the so called flip flopping is on both sides but the cold ruthlessness of McCain must get out everywhere or we are... Oh never mind!
Love your rock formation! Nature is beautiful sometimes a little moving around if pleasant to the eye! Rest!

Patriot:::
I am not worried at all about the Money desision he made about using funds from us....I think that was actually a good decision...I am concerned that he has not take a stand on the FISA issue...it is a huge constitutional issue...but I am trying to wait and see what he does...and see how he responds...I am tired that the DEMS don't stand up for us on this issue ( and getting used to it) I was just hoping that he would be stronger on this issue, although, criminal implications might better be dealt with by the NEXT AG ( ie Edwards ? )

Thanks about the rock formation...I am trying to build on of these ( actually SOME of these in my backyard in my little garden..which hopefully when done I will photo with my phone....)

E, I can understand that as well. But really, how many ways have they been able to check on us anyway? One very tangible and obvious easier way for the powers that be to check on you is to go over your library reading list. It's one of my pet peeves. How convenient that 'the 9/11' masterminds went to A library to take books out on how to make bombs and what else was it again? You'd think (!) that those types of books would be flag-worthy books, but noo, EVERYTHING needs to be archivable. I do not believe that the point of that is to make sure 'they' keep track for possible criminals (ok, terrorists, so much more popular), but really to be a tool for crowd control. If there ever was such an overt, daily noticed Big Brother routine, but like your quote from Carlin says; When you're born, you get a ticket to the freak show. When you're born in America, you get a front-row seat."
it's right in front of everyone's noses but everyone's just going along with it..Kudos to the odd library (like in Madison WI) who does not report those lists..

It is much worse than many know...the Illegal Spying and "eavesdropping" is the least of it....Good People, lawyers and Advocates have been spyed on by our "own" govt...their homes gone through...ransacked...and employers called....and bank accounts checked....This is not about "terra" it is indeed about Control and monitoring the people....And at some point it all must be looked at and turned over..I hope and pray that OUR next Prez, and AG bring back the Constitution....

( and yes, I know about the Library issue as well, when I go to the Library I always ask- do you have a shredder...? I help the library in Ca. buy one...I considered it a Wise Investment...)
