WELCOME TO A SWELTERING SUNDAY.....

***********************************
It is 98 Degrees.....Humidity is 59%....So that means when you walk outside, it feels like you are wrapped in Sticky Scotch Tape. I watched the Women Softball Team play China on MSNBC, what a classy bunch of ladies....I am hoping to find a Good Movie to watch.....Last night I watched "The Cider House Rules", what an amazing movie, it was not what I thought it was, it covers a broad spectrum of issues,racial tensions, incest, abortion, but it is not a dark movie at all....it is Thoughtful, So I am sitting here ....dripping....melting...I have not found a movie yet, I need a good one...I am reading Flannery O'Connor Stories....She understood Heat...The kind of Heat that makes one Think More....I have been working on Silent Fallout & Watery Lies ( the next three chapters, I think I need to change the Title Back just to Silent Fallout)....It is a perfect day to Think More...Write More...

So the Sun Tea today is Raspberry Tea...with Mint.....Have Some Tea....What is on your Sunday ?....I hope it is a Good One....
I hope a cool breeze finds you...

"Let the Beauty we love be what we do.There are a hundred ways to kneel and kiss the ground". Rumi, a Sufi Poet

"Smooth" Rob Thomas and Carlos Santana.....may as well just embrace the Heat....

We are 85 now, 12% humidity, might make 90 today. We've actually got such a nice breeze, our A/C isn't even on yet! I know I'll be singing a different tune when we hit 115 (although the humidity will still be so low, our heat index is lower than yours)!

"Cider House Rules" was a good movie, but an even better book. You must read it! It is all fleshed out, much stuff not in the movie, especially about Mr Rose, and of course the good (and I do mean good) Doctor.

Love Carlos Santana. He grew up in TJ & never forgets his roots. "Smooth" ... yeah ...

DK:::
gotta read the book- yup...that is what I thought watching the movie...and yeah, the Dr. part interested me....( okay I confess Micheal Caine could be in a movie about how boxes are made, or the history of TP- I would wholeheartedly watch it ;-)

truthfully I was in a Santana mood...but I love this video....the Heat...

E, you will appreciate the doctor and the whole orphanage/clinic. It is much more than the movie implied. Mr. Rose and Rose Rose are also bigger parts of the story. Then there is the whole Maine/New Hampshire Apple industry. All in all, the movie tried, but the book succeeded. Another John Irving book I loved was "A Prayer for Owen Meaney".

I actually never read this book....so odd, I was living in NE when it came out- Vermont- I should have read it..but I didn't....but watching that movie really did make me miss New England...( and I am working on one of the chapters for the book right now- that is about NE..so it makes sense that this was a good movie to watch...)

Anyways, I love Irving and how he writes...So I will be going to the library this week...and I need to order the Scotty book too...

My Sunday involved up close & personal encounters with a laurel hedge ~ that's my blog topic today. Got a lot done this weekend.
Why do weekends go so quickly & the workweek can d-r-a-g on????

I too watched the women softball game and it made me cry for the fearless softball playing girl I was--pitcher and home run champ. I was really fierce good. Then the budding of breasts and school said no more soft ball for you. Those were the bad old days. I couldda been a contenda. Then i got over feeling sorry for the girl that was, and loved every second of the game.

It was just nice to root for them- and they are all so young, but so skilled- for me - it is the oppostie- I so sucked at softball- I was a great hitter, but terrible catcher...( so they would stick me in the out field and pray...and I was the "stork" no one would pick me...)...these girls- when they were talking about what they were studying in school to be vets, drs and some are young moms...that was just very inspiring...Glad you saw them too ;-)
( the Chinese were like watching robots- they had no emotion...was really odd...)

and tonight is the Celtics vs Lakers....not a bad weekend...need a break from politics...and the Heat;-0

Fran:::
dare I say it....you were clearing Brush ???
( sorry- had to do it...)

I was actually outside the whole weekend, not too far from Cleveland-came to Cleveland for a couple of hours yesterday, but mostly walked the trails of East Harbor State Park, which I'd probably only leave periodically for trips to northern Michigan if I had some money...

The Mather is an old friend of mine-almost a touchstone. If I can wander her halls and decks a few times a year, then at least that little corner of the world is still all right.

May that little corner stay intact for you...and always welcome you...Hope it wasn't too warm...down by the Lake it was a bit cooler...take care...
