What an amazing man....and an amazing life...and Such a fighter....Oh how the Lion will be missed. I am so sad right now I can not write much.All I can say is that I am so grateful that he fought for so many things that matter...and for so many people. I hope he died peacefully....he will be so so missed...in my heart I know he will be with his sister and brothers now. A year ago tonight he shocked us by speaking at the Convention....
Teddy Blasting the GOP for Healthcare...
Teddys' Eulogy for Bobby ....and somehow it fits these times...
And Finally a song for Teddy...Danny Boy...(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Jgma--0WYU)...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And yes Uncle Teddy....we will carry President Obama in our Hearts and we will fight for him and pray for him....and yes we will fight like hell and get your Healthcare Bill passed and we will make sure it is named for you....
HuffingtonPost has really touching tribute page where people are contributing their stories....
Teddy made the world a better place. He made a difference. I'm not sure anyone can fill his shoes. We'll miss him forever.
we will miss him ...4ever...
I am so sad..
we needed to get the HCR done for him..and we must fight on..but I am so so sad of all the fighting that he has seen over the past few weeks..so sad...
I feel kind of lost, even though it was expected. I really hope he didn't watch or hear too much of the heartless townhall idiots, especially the gunslingers who would've reminded him of horrible days. Maybe some family member pulled the plug on Teddy's TV, like he did for his father when Bobby died. Hope so. There is only so much a person can bear.
Chris Matthews said earlier today that secret service were spotted at the Kennedy Compound. He was guessing Obama might be there. This was many hours before we heard Teddy died.
I heard that too..
I hope Obama got to say goodbye- somehow I think he did..
I too am so sad...
I have been crying for hours..
I can measure my life in kennedy moments..
I think many of us can...
and how kind his office was to my son and me in 2004...
and how I sent cards last summer and vicki wrote me back....( they were sailing cards- Hopper)
she even wrote to say he was not going to be at the Convention (found out later he defied drs orders...)
and I am so so sad that his HCR was not done..
and there is no one for his seat...
I wonder would Caroline step into his seat or Vicki?
it just seems so undone...not the way he would have wanted...
he always took care of things...
and was there when someone died..
and now he is gone...
the lion...
we need another lion...
A LIBERAL PASSING
Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy
(February 22, 1932 – August 25, 2009)
Traveling the shadow swept road,
dancing between the darkness and the light
a stranger, known to me, head bowed approaches.
Laughing I ask him; “Where to now?”
With a trembled voice he replies;
“To the land where all men go lay down.”
“Have no fear for passing.
This way all men come,
the wise, the good, and the dumb.
No life can be had ‘cept through this door.”
“I like the blue sky under a light sun,
I would have done more than I had done.
I never paid all my debts,
I pass on this road
sadly with some regrets.”
“Every man passes
this spot remembering
for the last time,
the evil they had done.
Go peacefully and calmly
into the dark of this night.
You lost some battles,
some wars, you won
in the balance though
you never quit the fight.
Pass willingly through this door
Sleep well friend
and consider this place no more.”
The man is passed and it may seem a champion is lost. I think Ted would have told you, that you and I, and them who have care and concern for our fellow man are the lions. His was a voice, a single voice. Remember nurse, nature abhors a vacuum, and someone with a voice will be sucked into that vacuum same as Ted was.
One of a kind. He will be missed.
He can be proud of his life's work- because his brother's lives were cut short, he carried the torch & carried on their shared causes.
I figured he had to have been quite ill to not get up & roar about the Health care debate & how it was being diluted & degraded into rumors of death panels & scare tactics.
Oh how we totally needed him now- to get up & give a speech about how the profiteers are being puppeteers, and trying to skew the truth in order to keep up their profits. Don't be fooled, don't back down.
I hope they name the health bill the Ted Kennedy Health care bill & help put his name & lifes work attached to this necessary civil & human right-- health care.
I hope the politics as usual garbage can be set aside, and they pass a good health care bill in his memory, honor & as recognition of a part of his life's work.
A good & decent man.
Rest in Peace, Ted.
RIP Teddy.. I am sorry the idiots in Congress couldn't get this done for you and now we just have to fight harder in your memory. If this doesn't give them incentive to get it done nothing will.
Thanks for sharing your story, I too have been in tears all morning.. I didn't hear it until I awoke this morning.
annette::
so so sorry...many hugs to you...yeah finding out is so hard, funny, I was so grateful fo Youtube at 2am....just needed to hear him...a year to the day when we heard him at the DNC...quite a year...
We will help them get it done..and yes it must be done...and named for Teddy..
Fran..
I hope and pray that they do get it done...it needs to happen- and no it can not be compromised on......reallysad...
I hope he did not see all the crapola that went on these past few weeks..
Walking man..
what can I say...
what you wrote is beautiful...
you have a way ...
I came on earlier today..
I knew you would leave something here ...
thank you....
Ok, he is gone, I wept more for Jack and John John, but I do mourn the loss of a fighting Irishman Democrat, a guy who would never shy from a fight!!!
Us Irish need to have an Irish Wake (god knows I have attended them in my life)In an Irish wake we drink beer and whiskey and remmeber the good of what we have lost...
1) rejoice he was with us for so long
2) Take Inspiration from his
fighting attitude
3) Think of ALL the lives he has saved
4) Be thankful that the whole Kennedy family has always ALWAYS understood noblese oblige
5) His legacy will be health care
6) THERE ARE MORE KENNEDYS
