Friday Night Music and Thoughts....1.25.08
***************************
"Hope begins in the Dark, the Stubborn Hope that if you just Show Up and try to do the Right Thing, the Dawn will come.
You wait, you watch , you work, you don't give up." Anne Lamott
{{{I found two of her books in the trash at the curb, and it is true I will read Anything. Even yes, Books left at the curb. But this woman is interesting, she is concise and reasonable and real. "The Ham of God " ( no it is not a Cookbook), and "Plan B: Further Thoughts on Faith".}}}
**************************
I know many of us will be watching the Primary tomorrow, and I think many of us have Hope for Obama and Edwards that they get the support that both of them deserve in that State. And after watching the Debate the other night, it is also that the bickering won't thwart people from Voting. I view the Vote as a way to Shout at DC, Shout for Change, Shout for the Real People that NEED Change.
Click the title and yes, it is the Song Shout. The lyrics of this song are interesting, about WHY and WHEN we Shout and why it matters....
***************************
It is cold here up by the Great Lakes , very cold. So We have been throwing nuts, and seed out and toast, and peanut butter on fruit. We do what we can for our little neighbors.....they come out in the afternoon sun and gather the snacks and eat with joy.
It you live somewhere cold, do remember the little furry neighbors.
Have a good night....share your coco and be good to each other.
PLEASE PLEASE do go see Pursey and wish her well....as she is closing down her Blog, her wonderful Blog...and please give her lots of love....
Namaste.....

Shout away my friends! I'm with you - change is worth working for right now and it does make a difference who is the President of the US.
And thanks for feeding our little outside friends :)
I was just watching the weather report..and yes it is very cold out your way...it's chilly here as well.....regarding picking up books....have you ever heard of "pass the book"....you leave a book that you have read on a table, lets say at a coffee shop...you leave a little note in it telling who ever picks it up...that you hope they read it....sign and leave it somewhere else for some one else...in your note you also tell them where you are from...some books have been known to travel the world that way...I think that is a great way to pass along a good book and to encourage literacy....
cheers my friend ....hope you have a great weekend....
I think the birds around here hate me. They were happy to pig up my yard all summer, but now when I'm trying to help them out, they have disappeared. Same with the chipmonks & rabbits. Maybe if I went out & SHOUTED at them? Stay warm.
D.K...do you have a CAT in your backyard?
he he
Thomas...
Verrrrry funny....there again...maybe they hitched to my backyard...( I have birds.....all kinds...Mrs Possum, the Raccoon that sleeps on the porch.......the skunk family- thought they recently suffered a loss....and then there is the chipmunks and the squirrels and rabbits.....and there has been a deer sighting at the park up the street- yeah- go figure - urban deer....and then across the street there is a Falcon that sits and looks at my yard......his resturante....)
DK:
I am sorry...I am convinced it is the carrots and Peanut butter and the NUTS that made all the difference....or perhaps your creatures hicthhiked here....what Thomas said is funny...although my cats spend alot of time looking out the window...it is their TV...
RN :::
I love the BOOK idea...wow...that would be great....I am going to have to do that.....( I might do it with the books above - since they are not mine....)
Gary:
We are doing the Best to CHANGE the REGIME...I promise....
Reading everything explains the depth of Enigma!
Larry:
I do read Everything...foriegn papers to Cereal Boxes....it is an addiction:-)
[[ A really good one to have though....words are everywhere.....]]
ah yes ..i feed the Ravens and bunnies , but must do it far far away from the house. I have a hunter cat, who cries pitiously when he comes back inside from the cold, i tell him sorry buddy the mouses are sleeping. Once several yrs ago, we had beautiful flocks of magpies I loved them. One day i heard an absolute riot going on by my "garden" there on the fence was the flock perched and screaming their heads off - upon closer inspection, i saw a fallen comrade, and they have not been back since. To this day i miss them, and never ever - leave out bird food anywhere close to the house. ( i never did do that) but having a hunter cat, who follows his nature..is just a fact of life.
* Before i made the cat door only open if they pull it towards them - i was plagued by his gifts, with gophers the size of rump roasts!! Nothing like looking down and gasping "shouting" out EEEK at surprise like that ! - it was a problem. But the problem is solved. Harmony is restored. Mouth checks are done at the cat door, and "presents" stay outside. Often the prize was brought inside and i ended up doing the mice chasing - y'all know that drill i am sure..lol
What about me? I am a furry neighbor in a cold climate?(My pelt always comes in thicker before a cold snap.)
I am going to try not to stress out as much during tomorrow's primary as I did the last time.
Yeah good luck with that.
Gryphen:
Oh my ....
Hey Friend...what can I get you ? Some peanut butter on crackers ? raisens and fruit? I am making oatmeal Gumdrop Cookies tomorrow- want some of those ?
hmmmm, about tomorrow....hang in there...I am hoping that ALL goes well and that the Will of the People prevails....
Proud Progressive:
Nice to see you...and always good to hear of your life there out west...
ahhh we too get gifts from the Kitty...from inside...but it sounds like you have worked hard to restore harmony....and the critters are probbaly grateful to you for that...and Magpies- are soooo noisy, best to keep them away from the house...
namaste...
I'm currently catless, but there is a mean-looking falcon that has been hanging around the area. maybe that's why all the little critters have become scarce?
PProg, I once stepped on a still-warm gopher body in my bare feet in the dark. Squish! Cat had been outside hunting at night.
Dk:
well well that is lovely ...
nice warm Gopher slippers...
hmmm, about your falcons?
they do enjoy small animals....I think they will even eat rabbits...I don't think they eat small cats or dogs...but...I don't know...
I have a beautiful one that swoops down and dines on our side of the street....his Sitting Spot is on a Dead Branch right across the street....so I can watch him from the bay window in my son's room...
May you and all your snowbound friends both bipedal and quadrapedal have a warm and safe weekend.
Thanks Jamie:
I know you all are pretty cold there in the NW too...stay warm...
enigma
That is definitely a song worth shouting about. Love it! We keep our furry friends well fed here even a couple cats, a coon. and a skunk. I know you guys are pretty cold right now so have some more cocoa, stay warm, and curl up with a good book!
Just want to say I like Anne LaMott's writing. A left-wing Christian is a fairly unusual species indeed.
