John Edwards Leaving the Race......

****************************
There is an announcement that is coming today from John Edwards in New Orleans at 1pm.He is leaving the race. I am truly sad about this, he brought up so many important issues that we all needed to hear and have Americans thinking about. I supported him 2004 before he joined John Kerry, and then again earlier on this year. All of this time I stayed on their email list.My son is who introduced me to Obama, but until that point I really was grateful to have John Edwards in the race. Poverty is something that is rampant in this Country, and should be spoken off with such honesty and clarity.Homeless VETS , 200,000 of them, mostly from the Gulf War and the Iraq War.His Healthcare Plan is as good as Obama's ( parts of it were better). And I will be forever grateful that he always remembered Katrina and the Gulf Coast. The Media gave him such shortshrift that it is Shameful. He showed us WHAT Passion and Dedication are, and that there are Issues worth fighting for, Always. He made us look at America, and realize there are indeed TWO Americas, and that there is always room to fight for People that Matter, this is OUR Country. My son and I will be writing him and his family a Thank You letter.

And to Elizabeth and his family I am so grateful that they gave it their all, that they showed us that Love is a Powerful Uniting Force in these Dark Times. I pray for her, that she has much time with the man that she loves as much as she loves this Country. She reminded us that even people fighting Cancer love this Country, that Life does not end with Cancer.

Namaste.

I like John Edwards and I don't think we've seen the last of him.

I hope and pray that he endorses Obama....and that he is Obama's running mate..((.if he and Obama were a team, their numbers indeed beat Billary... look at the Florida Numbers...))

Amen, Enigma. There goes my vote in AZ as we voted by mail last week. Al Gore was my first choice for president, but he doesn't see the value in his "re-election" bid (he won in 2000). Now that Edwards has dropped out, I don't have a candidate that I really believe in. Besides, if the next president is anything like the Democrats we elected in 2006, there won't be any use in voting this year. Right now I'm so disgusted with politics and politicians, I'm declaring for "none of the above" and just walking away! Sorry about the doom and gloom but it's Dada's fault -- :-).

Prof:
On behalf of my son...I am asking that you atleast give Obama a Chance...he and Edwards had many goals and postions that are very similiar.

I am so sorry that you are feeling disillusioned....I think many of us are feeling lost in the Process.....

Walking Away is what Buscho wants....so please don't do that.....

1pm:
Obama is speaking in Colorado speaking about John and Elizabeth Edwards, he said that the world is grateful to them and their work....they let the World know that ....It was a moving speech- but we merely heard a small snippet....

Sadly MSNBC is so full of themselves they will not let us hear the Obama Speech....it would be nice to hear from and what he was trying to say....but instead we had to listen to Andrea Mitchell and Tweety blathering on.....

I really am sick of how we never get to hear Obama....( it was like that with Edwards too)

It is 1:30PM...
John and Elizabeth are in NOLA at Musicians' Village....he is speaking...looks confident- dressed in jeans, he does not in any way look defeated or even sad...still plenty of fire and passion....he even mentioned my Cleveland devastation in his speech...I am so sad about his battle ending because the Media lacked Courage and Integrity....I hope and pray he knows what a difference he made....

Elizabeth is standing behind him, I can not see her face...I hope that this was a decision that they both are at peace about....

About 300 people are there gathered....supportive...

To Those that are struggling, we will never Forget You...He told this to Homeless that he spoke to them this am...under a bridge at NOLA....

He says he is "suspending" the campaign....

Have no fear, you and 6.6 rest easy! Edwards administers progressive ideas and has said in the past that as long as he was alive and breathing the voice of his supporters would be heard in this campaign.
I believe the man and that means he will be actively supporting and backing Obama or Hillary. I believe absolutely that it will be Obama as he is the person that will most likely unite America and bring back support to average Americans.

I need an explanation. The footage shown here Edwards said he was 'suspending' his campaign.
That doesn't make sense as reinstating it at a later date is clearly not viable.
And why didn't he just ride through to the Super Tuesday?
So a question of language and of a premature jump, regardless of having nothing to lose.
Did his volunteers desert him?

Cart:
I just answered your questions above- but no his volunteers and staff are still very dedicated and indeed by "suspending " his campaign- he leaves room to pay them longer and take care of the staff and help them transistion and find jobs..I think about WHY NOW- it was logistics and timing...still very very sad...

Patriot:
thank you for what you said..and yes, I hope we see more of him when we get Dems in the WHITEHOUSE...and that it is Obama...I have Hope.

Too bad about Edwards. He was the only candidate I didn't have doubts about and felt he truly could deliver the change we need in this country. I am not convinced Obama has the fire in the gut to do what needs to be done and I know HRC is nothing but GOP light.
It is not often an old political dog like me gets excited about a candidate but Edwards was exciting and I think America will be less for him leaving the race. I hate having to settle for a candidate which is where I am now.

For me it was a sad day indeed. E4e, you might want to take a look at an email I received from Edwards that I posted this morning.
