IT'S A GAS.....

Soooo Today it was up to 130 dollars /Barrel....( Does anyone else remember that oil was 28 dollars a barrel the Night Before Bush launched his illegal war...???) So how are you all doing with the fuel gauging ? Have you altered habits? Are you filling up less ? Doing the Half Tank Dance ? Have you changed plans and vacations because of it ?

Buy the cheapest gas, but FILL UP, no half-tank. Remember with this kind of inflation, prices will always be higher next week, so you are actually saving money by filling up today. Where will this end, any predictions?

Yes we've made changes. I leave the beast parked whenever I can, use my bike. If we take a longer trip, we use the "sipper" Toyota & not the bigger vehicle that eats more gas.
Last year I was driving an additional 100+ miles a week driving my son to or from work & I had to have him help pay for gas. That did not cover my time, wear & tear etc... just actual fuel at a time when the prices were out of hand. I don't usually do the half tank dance because when I have time to go to the station, I fear if I blink, the price will soar. Not hoarding, just deal with it one tank at a time.
We don't just go for rides this year, like we used to.
The gas situation sucks, and there is no relief in sight.

dk- I will predict we wind up with at or near double digit gas prices. Then the need for alternatives to the gas combustion engine will kick in.

Here it is 3.89 to 4.00.....I don't drive much at all, all splurge trips are gone, and even any needed trips for errands I combine...there are no plans for trips or vacations...or visiting or exploring...and 6-6's Dad's trip from the West is on hold....it has doubled in price...I only do half tank...but that is all I can do for now....

I walk to the grocery store...for all food...I don't use my car anymore...

When i bought my Durango (Yes I know it is an SUV, but I live in Alaska and it is allowed.) I could fill up the tank for about $35.00.

The other day it cost me over $72.00!

I want to buy a hybrid but I am waiting for the technology to improve a little bit, and the cost to come down.

Until then only NECESSARY car rides are going to take place. No joyriding anymore.

we only use the car very rarely- and only for important errands that can not be done on foot...period...and yes, I have an SUV...BUT it is the Only vehicle that 6-6 fits in....and I am looking to get a hybrid .....( he really does not fit in Prius...the car he wants is a Smart Car....)

72$$$$...insane isn't it ???

( I watched the OilMen hearings this week- it is amazing my head did not explode)
