Oh, and I got my bumper sticker on my car now, so that's good.

Obama edges closer every day. I really hope we can put an end to this debacle and concentrate on McCain so we can get Obama elected.

Okay back to the Derby:

Einstein **** Recapturing the Glory***Golden Balls

my picks...

I don't think she will ever give up but this should be the beginning of the end for Hillary. If Indiana is close and Obama wins NC then SD'S should call an end to this. Once Obama turns his attention on McCain I absolutely expect him to self destruct.

ooops got my races mixed up- Einestein and Golden Balls in the last race before the Derby...

About Hill...I don't know Jim...I just don;t know what it will take....I think she is delusional...as is Bill....

**** so I am still rooting for "recapturing the glory"

An inch or a mile-- he won by 7 votes in the Guam caucus.... but he WON.

Kudos to Guam!

I could NOT believe the 7-vote margin in Guam! With 79% counted, it was 53% Obama. Then whoosh, it ends up 50/50. I wish I could've seen some of those caucuses. I bet it was downright mayhem.

Couldn't watch the K Derby, especially after hearing about the horse Hillary was rooting for. Very sad day for that whole spectacle. I've only been to 2 horse races & 1 greyhound race. I hated it, everything about it, and will never attend one again.

Keeping positive thoughts about Indiana & N Carolina, hoping voters aren't bamboozled (I'm looking for Malcom X's speech about that).

I watch the races, esp the Kentucky derby because of family tradition....long story...but anyways 6-6 and I have always watched....the Derby and Preakness...it was a really strange race...they never reshowed any of the clips or running of it...and after the race Big Brown was really upset right after- before they even announced about 8 Belles- we both noticed that the horse ( Big Brown) was overwrought....that Something upset him....it was really odd...and they did not show the other horses after the race.....and they showed the jockey walking away....and 6-6 and I both said uh-oh....a jockey would never just walk away....

( I don't persay like races....I like horses...esp after 6-6 and I used to take care of them- even a couple of race horses were part of the riding program he was in when he was little....I used to do massage on them- Tellington Touch...and they are so sensitive).

BTW Fran;
A Win is a Win...

DK:::
also a double fracture like that, I have never heard of such a thing....ever....really strange...and NBC handled the whole thing in terrible fashion....it was truly a media circus....( btw Hillary did send Chelsea to the event to bet on THAT horse....6-6 pointed out - "tell me that is not a curse of that woman" and all week Hill was telling people at events that the "filly" was her girl....makes me cringe).

I love horses just as I love all animals.

So the death of Eight Belles fills me with rage because the ankle break and her euthanasia points to the problem of wealthy elites breeding horse from an increasingly small gene pool. This practice weakens the horse and make the horse more prone to injury.

Either stop inbreeding these magnificent animals of ban horse racing altogether.

Fran said...

On the horse topic- it is sad that Eight Belles collapsed with 2 broken ankles & had to be put down. Maybe it is inbreeding, but to be in these high level races, the equilvalent of the Olympics for horses, they must work & train very hard. It seems they too experience inflammation & structural breakdowns moreso than other horses who do not train at this Olympics level of competition.
Barbaro, the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner, wound up with 3 fractured bones in his right hind leg. After multiple surgeries, that leg healed, but he developed complications of laminitis in his left rear leg- a kind of structural breakdown/inflammation combo, that took 5 more surgeries. After that, he developed laminitis in both front legs & he had to be put down.

I remember hearing a Veterinarian saying a horses ability to walk & be mobile is tied to their digestive system functioning, in other words it is a domino effect that severely impacts the health of a horse.

I'm not into the races, but I like a good horse story.

You have to hope these horses died doing what they loved to do - run.

Can't help but wonder if Hillary's support of the filly is an omen or parallel of her own campaign?

jmsjoin said...

That was a shame about 8 Belles. I think people are getting how fragile and high strung race horses are. I never felt safe around them.
Anyway I was bothered yesterday hearing Hillary say she is moving on to Virginia next. She really bothers me!

Patriot:
I think you meant West Virgina and Kentucky...( we should check and see if repugs will be voting in those states)...

Fran:
I love horses...and animals in general...but a double break like that....coumpound fractures ( that means there was bone exposed....and she actually kept trying to get up....so sad...)I would love to know what really happened...went wrong....but I doubt we will know...she came in second...pretty fast thing...and I guess in a way she did die doing what she loved...

Christopher:
my son and I watch- we laugh at the hats...and people being idiots...and we both love the horses...so I hear you....those horses are trained...and inbreeding is a problem....I don't know about this horse or her heritage....just really tragic....so sad...

enigma my sweet rose...

First I too feel sad that Eight Belles had to be put to sleep as it is a very hard thing to have to do. I know.

I also apologize to all horses and other four legged companions and in no way mean to demean you when I say this about Hillary.

Hillary said that Eight Belles was like her, there until the end. So my question is...

If Hillary breaks both her legs when she loses NC and Indiana will her campaign put her to sleep?

God Bless.

PS: Today I brought home another cat. Her name is Princess Pepper and she is Grey and White, kind of a Smokey Grey. She is five years old spayed and front paws declawed.

Sort of on a home visit before adoption. I believe that Baby will get along with PP and will definitely keep her.

God Bless.

Anon:
Oh so wonderful that Baby and Princess will have a home with you...may they get along and enjoy their new home...lovely...

About Hillary...6-6 did also mention maybe she is abit of a curse...that poor horse...such a strange thing..I have never heard of a horse breaking both ankles/legs at once...unreal...so sad...
