THERE IS ONE OTHER DIFFERANCE IN WEST VIRGINIA THAT MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN MISSED: THE "INTERNETS" ?

So late last night after it was all said and done, 6-6 and I sat dissecting the race and he said something that blew me away...He said " I don't think that it was just the White thing , or the Wright thing, or the Gas thing that gave her edge there" So I said do you think it was Education ? "No He said, I think that it was something else" I said what ??? He said the Internet...He at first wondered How Good is the Cable there, but he said MOST of the Obama Myths have been fairly well dispelled by the Internet.

I wonder if he is right. Maybe the Obama People should include that in their Canvassing.....

okay...
so we looked this up-
there are plenty of Cable comps...
BUT not as much Internet....
( there are about 8 cable comps)

BUT internet- more limited and pricey- and only three...so he might be onto something...

BUT we also looked up Starbucks- and there are only 14...so maybe that is another part of the equation....

my mom and i talk about this quite a bit too. i don't watch the cable news or network news- but she watches network. why? because it's all she has. i can search for answers to her questions- but what about all of the folks who simply get their news from the sound bites and compromised 'news' from the talking heads? there are swaths of america that not only don't get internet- they don't even get cable. i have a feeling that these are the folks voting mccain and hillary. i think 6-6 is right.

oh- and fyi- different sections of the country get different news. mom has a friend in florida who sends newspaper clippings once in awhile. all i can say is- wow. it's like reading a propaganda paper from the right wing. so- it's little wonder hillary wants florida so badly.

BETMO:
The News thing is a real issue...and the Cable or lack or and the Internet... but you are right...what if it all comes down to soundbites....( that would explain why Jeremiah Wright could still be an issue in some places...)

Very interesting comment and it makes sense. For one thing, much of Obama's communications are via the Internet - I get e-mails from his staff at least once a day - and if many of these lower educated, less affluent people are not on the Internet, they are not receiving those communications. It will be a challenge for his staff to figure out another way to reach the non-internet population while still using their talents to successful target those that are computer savvy. They need to do both.
