Good summation.
Some of the media coverage after the debate was putrid.
I watched NBC. Those guys are such weenies.
Palin is not ready to be President, much less VP
E..I have been having sleep issues this week so last night, I tried the melatonin AND did not watch any tv..I figured I would simmer and stew and undo any sleeping aid just thinking about the ignorant 'faithful' who thinks she's the cat's meow. From reading yours and some others' summary..pah..I would've been 'talking' to the tv if I had so I think I made the right choice. The obama supporters and some Independents might be more convinced than ever to not have those two win in November, but there are so many ignorant people here in this country (no offense but isn't that why we had 8yrs of the same), that i worry big time. The faithful will come out in droves like lemmings and watch out for the throng..I sure hope Obama wins because it's not about the candidates at some point, it's about the voters..what kind of people vote? Sometimes I realize I know so much more than quite a few people around me but then, I blog and read many other people's blogs and learn so much in such little time span. The scary thing is it does not take much time..but that is not what a lot of people are willing to invest..
hope you caught up on your sleep..[s]

The thing that bothers me most about Palin is this cutsey/folksy persona she puts on..... but really she is a pitbull who is anxious to expand her power, deny your rights, and embraces the god-sanctioned war concept. She is dangerous & inexperienced
Biden on the other hand, came off as someone who really knows his stuff. He was able to clarify and respond to much of the Palin propaganda-- my favorite line was *MAVERICK- HE IS NOT" and listed several items that prove that he was not.
Biden was sharp and clear, whereas Palin was working from a set of talking points they *drilled* into her head ~ regardless of what the actual question was.
For me, those lines of "we're winning" and "the surge worked" really bother me. If it worked and we won, why are we still there, fighting, dying, suffering & sending MORE troops?
Saying that statement does not make it true.
Both Palin & McCain cling to those statements....
but the death toll keeps rising.
I hope the Obama camp fires back and says, say what you will, but US soldiers are still doing multiple deployments, and there are deaths in Iraq every day. If that is his definition of success, I'd hate to see a failure.
It drives me crazy - my computer is upstairs, the TeeVee is down. Can't watch and blog at the same time. I managed to get through about 1/2 an hour before my blood pressure said "turn it off if you want to live to November!"
Reading through your liveblogging, I suspect I did the right thing.
Sewmouse:::
All in all we all survived- no one head's exploded...that I know of ;-)
just being able to call her on her moosecrap .....and sum it up..and realize that we all did see it together..techincally she did not answer a single question...
Fran::
sadly - there is no "Winning" and "Victory", those words can not apply when there are people dying and bleeding everyday..and that she has such a poor grasp of that is pathetic...but in the Longterm it is dangerous...very dangerous...She put on her Beauty Queen wink and wave and smile, but she is an empty vessel, plain and simple..
Biden actually did an amazing job.....after watching him for many years on cspan I can honestly say he did an amazing job, very dignified and really clearly answered all the questions ...he was thoughtful and knowledgeable....all we know about Palin is that she can read cue cards...
Ingrid::
we had 8 years of the same because we had 2 Stolen Elections...and yes, there is an ignorance level that is very concerning....and but she is what she is, and I think for the most part the test was , Can She Answer Questions?
and We learned she does not think , she merely spits out talking points....What happens next...we shall see...the Gibson and the Couric Interviews told more about her than we could have ever perdicted...
Dean:::
I did not watch really any post debate coverage- I watched a bit of Rachel and a bit of Keith- but Pat Buchanon nauseates me...I did rewatch the debate to make sure I did not miss anything...but it did not change anything..she is a dangerous woman...Cheney in heels and lipstick...
Fran,
I don't find Palin's attitude to be a positive one. I don't find her "personable".
She is snide, condescending, self-righteous and entitled. That near-permanent sneer she wears when talking is off-putting to say the least. And I know this sounds silly and superficial, but that voice, with her dropping "g"s and her poor grammar, wears me down. And how she slathered it on thick when things weren't going well for her...oh my
I don't merely think she is unintelligent; I think she is malevolent. One of the most uncomfortable moments last night was when she talked about Biden's wife being in heaven/going to heaven because she is a teacher. I think most of us knew she was talking about his current wife, but the fact that his first wife died, along with a child, that comment was extremely distasteful at least, but, in my opinion, it was deliberate. She wanted to throw him off his game. Malevolence.
Obama and Biden are serious (AND personable) people for serious times. I was very propd of our ticket last night, and very disgusted that ANYONE thought Palin won last night. She told Biden and Ifill to their faces that she wasn't going to answer their questions.
I think it's rare to say this about someone we've never met, and I am uncomfortable saying it, but I hate her. I hate her for her actions and what she stands for, what she is versus what she wants people to see, and I hate her for once again showing us that a third of our population is mindless enough to buy this crap without question - at a time when we absolutely do not need it.
AAaaarrrgggh.
Thanks again Enigma for last night!
You Go Enigma!!! Those 11 postmortems would make a great scary Halloween costume! But, we gotta work a moose in there somewhere. :)
So even with someone telling her what to say via the ear piece, she couldn't answer any questions.
Peace.
Hey all...
yeah...pretty amazing..still shaking my head..well, we know she can walk and chew gum and listening to a prompter in her ear...yeah...
We have to keep the Talking Caribou Barbie from the Oval Office....
Thanks for the summary of all the post-mortems, and your list of takeaways. I totally agree, she was completely rehearsed and I love Jackie's use of the term "malevolent." She is indeed, it is a good desription.
Jackie's description was pretty damned accurate...we have to fight to keep this wretched fake wench out of the WH or anywhere near it...
If ya can work a tiara, sash, heels and wand without breaking stride, an ear piece ain't nutt-in!
I loved Jackie's observation of Palin and how the 'low information voters' will see her. She will easily sweep up what I like to call the 'zombie voters' as they already think the Democrats are evil and want so desperately to believe her "Gosh darn it, oh shucks" persona. I saw a McCain/Palin yard sign earlier in the week, and I had to strongly remind myself that it's wrong to go on private property and steal yard signs regardless of the candidate. *hangs head in shame*
I spent some time last night reading praise of her performance. I live in a small city in a Reddy-McRed state so I find it best to prepare myself for the Palin-lovefest before I leave the house. I also read the criticisms as that is like getting vaccinated so you don't catch the disease. *chuckles*
I've seen the movie (the debate) and later today I will read the book (the transcript). I like to read transcripts as some things are really obvious in print and not so much in video. Also, I was playing Palin bingo last night and Mr. Hairball was screaming "GET HER, GET HER, GET HER!!!" at Biden a lot of the time. Between those two, I'm sure I missed something.
Oh I want to see the transcript too...yeah...
69 Million people watched...yup..that is alot of people...hope they are thinking people...
Jackie-- I totally agree with what you said- and I personally don;t find Palin endearing at all. But she plays that cutesy, eye winkin', I'm an outsider crap, with the down home, simple gal mask on....
Some people eat that up.
I spit it out & gag..... but she does play that card.
I call it the Annie Oakley persona
If I were a talented artist I would create a box of cereal called same old shit, with red starburst add ons--
new improved, refreshed, more better..... while selling the same old shit. Actually maybe worse than Bush, but certainly not better.
I don't think McCain has much time left, and a Palin president Ugh!
*snorts* Fran, your cereal box idea needs to be a SNL skit!
Fran...and Hairball ...ahem....
go up to the Friday Funnies Post..a little present for you....enjoy ;-)
Awesome idea Fran! I wonder how many people would buy that cereal, you think?
I knew you didn't like Palin, I am just so angry that you are right - that anyone (so many people!) finds this fraud likeable.
You guys are all so funny. Thanks for that. Keeping things light for a few moments every day helps me to not lose my mind with all this. (Gardening helps, too, if you can believe it. You can't argue with a tomato.)
Cheers.
