About Squatting in Foreclosed Homes.....

So here in Ohio more and more people have been foreclosed, I am still trying to find the exact numbers....but an interesting issue has come up....Some of the Officials, including a Representative is encouraging that people "squat", yes, stay in their homes....Others are encouraging that the " Title of Ownership" be shown....In our hood there are many empty homes, just empty, abandoned....and at night there are also people sleeping in their cars, and yes, some of the homes are being squatted in.....Is this a solution...maybe...Watch the Videos below and see what you think....

Bill Moyers covered the Mortgage Mess in Cleveland in July 2008, and it is worse now...( 20 Min.)

I like Kaptur's approach- Squat in your home. I share her total frustration that the banks need to be rewriting these loans. Better a long steady cash flow from mortgages, than a foreclosure which means it will COST them money & they take a loss.

Banks are not known for having a heart, so I suspect it will take legislative action of the feds to require the flow of cash be extended to mortgage relief in the form of redoing mortgages.

I do admire in that clip they just say it- we ARE in a depression. Call it what it is.

yeah...like a recession can just keep getting deeper ?

better to just admit that this is bad....then we can atleast try to think of HOW to get things to improve...instead of waiting for the bottem to fall...

but empty houses..???
and people on the street..
it makes no sense..and in our hood- renters have been sent packing- they paid their rent...and they still could....to the bank...

That's why the Cook County Sheriff quit doing foreclosures in Chicago, he found out he was evicting renters instead of homeowners and said he wasn't going to do that.

I think it is just terrible that the banks aren't letting people stay in these homes, the houses just deteriate at a faster rate if they sit empty...and if someone who loves the house stays in it they are going to take care of it rather than take a chance on someone vandalizing it.

Seems like a win win to me...

Jackass shrub people gave away all that money w no strings--- so anything goes, including trying to dump the sub prime mortgage loans. I'd like Obama or Congress to make retroactive rules on the money.
If you want to keep the money you must
keep it in this country
rewrite viable loans- those with steady payment histories.
Mandatory mortgage relief!

who know who really owns the properties at this point....and Where all the money is...there are NO loans here....if you go to the banks there are no fliers sitting around with Loans to try for...really odd....no fliers about school loans, car loans or even home improvement loans...

( I have checked 4 different banks...)

and yes, SOMETHING has to be done for the mortgage relief situation....there are millions of homes still at stake...and families...
